LET'S SEE THE AUTHENTIC WAY "WRITER" STARTED HER STORY:

Reese exited the shower, rubbing a towel vigorously over his damp hair and padding naked across the cool tile and onto the thick, sumptuous carpet in the bedroom of the hotel suite. Casting his eyes around, he searched for his shirt and pants in the piles of clothes strewn across the floor and on top of the armchair near the window.

Chelsea, one of the two young women in the bed, rolled in his direction, her dark brown skin making a striking contrast against the starkness of the white sheets. She brushed long hair out of her face and squinted at him.

You’re leaving?” Her hoarse voice was filled with disappointment.

Reese nodded. “Afraid so. Much as I’d like to stick around, I’ve got to get out of here. It’s almost noon, and I have plans.” He didn’t have plans. He was just ready to go after a long night and late morning.

He tossed the damp towel on a chair by the window and pulled on his underwear, a pair of washed-out jeans, and the dress shirt he’d worn the night before to a party that started in one of the other suites. After lots of flirting, he’d booked a room for Chelsea and her brunette friend, who was still fast asleep on the other pillow, one lovely breast and nipple revealed by the lowered linens. It had been a good night indeed.

He sat on the end of the bed and started putting on his shoes.

Chelsea crawled over and draped an arm over his shoulder. “When will I see you again?”

“Not for a while. You go back to New York tomorrow, don’t you?”

He met her at a friend’s book launch and signing, and they hooked up that night. From their conversation the next day, it was a revenge tactic against her on-again/off-again boyfriend, with whom she was currently off. When they spotted each other at last night’s party, she’d told him she and her boyfriend were done for good and had been more than willing to take another tumble in the sheets. He’d been pleasantly surprised when she invited a friend along.

“I do. When are you back in New York?” she asked.

“Don’t know. But when I am, I’ll be sure to call you.” Reese stood and rolled up his shirtsleeves to his elbows. “The two of you are welcome to stay as long as you like. Have lunch on me before you leave. Good seeing you again.”

She pouted, but he ignored her and patted his pants pockets to make sure he had his wallet and phone and headed toward the door.“Bye. See you next time,” she called.

He didn’t respond because he didn’t know if there really would be a next time. Having sex was not the same as starting a relationship, and unless they ran into each other again, he wouldn’t call her and was fairly certain she wouldn’t call him, either. In the end, the way their night ended suited them both just fine.

Reese took the elevator to the first floor and walked over to the registration desk. After waiting in line for a few minutes, he approached the young woman behind the counter.

He gave her the suite number and added, “I have two guests who are still in the room. They can stay as long as they need to, and anything they want can be billed to the card on file.”

“No problem, Mr. Brooks. Did you enjoy your stay?”“It was excellent,” he said, flashing his first smile of the morning.

“We do hope you’ll join us again,” she said, blushing and lowering her gaze.

“I’m sure I will.”

He walked away and stepped onto the sidewalk, squinting into the glare of the summer sun. He pulled out his phone to call a car when a flash of yellow and blue down the street at The Winthrop Hotel caught his eye, but the woman disappeared behind a column.

He gaped when she reappeared. Were his eyes deceiving him? No. It was Nina Winthrop. His girl was back. His baby. He’d missed her like crazy. The bright day suddenly became brighter.

What are you doing here at my hotel?”

“Actually, I went to a party at the Ritz last night and stayed overnight to…to sleep off my buzz. I saw you as I was leaving.”

One of her eyebrows shot toward the edge of the head wrap. She knew him well enough to know that was a BS answer. “So, what’s her name? Or their names?” she asked.

“There you go, thinking the worst of me, as usual.”

“But I’m right, aren’t I? I see nothing’s changed.”

It bothered him that she thought he remained unchanged when, in reality, he was simply killing time with other women until he won her back."

When will these authors realize that women are not stupid and that this kind of disgusting shit is not sexy ???? PLEASE JUST STOP WRITING THIS GARBAGE!

Oh Let's see why the couple broke up years ago:

"They spent the better part of their senior year together and remained a couple during their first two semesters of college. But they attended universities in different up with other women was great. While his boys were having the time of their lives with pretty coeds they’d met at parties or elsewhere on campus, he had to be satisfied with phone sex from his girlfriend hundreds of miles away. It was tough, and her conversations about marriage and kids only fueled his unrest.

She was so sure about what she wanted and had her future all planned. While the furthest in the future he’d thought about was jumping in the shower and jerking off until he could see her again. Rather than cheat, the summer before their sophomore year, he told her he wanted to break things off. But that wasn’t the worst of it.

The following week, he and a bunch of friends flew to the Hamptons. While there, a girl he barely knew but who had made several passes at him—Kelly Strong—arrived at the beach, tooseveral passes at him—Kelly Strong—arrived at the beach, too.

If he’d known what was to come, he wouldn’t have done what he did when Kelly showed up at his door. To this day, his biggest regret was opening that damn door.

She was gorgeous and sexy and lookedhim up and down with a seductive smile. “Hi, Reese.”

“What are you doing here?”

She shrugged. “Just being neighborly. Mind if I come in?”

Horny from a night of flirting back and forth at the fire on the beach, that was all it took for him to widen the door and let her in. He was back to doing as he pleased, being a playboy.

Two days later, he returned to Atlanta, and Nina showed up unexpectedly when he had a few friends over for a party while his mother was out of town. The minute he saw her, he recognized the grave mistake he’d made. He let his hormones make a decision that solely belonged to his heart and head. He realized he had a great relationship, someone who cared about him, checked up on him, and, in general, looked out for him. He decided they could work through the distance.

Then Kelly showed up, and the bomb dropped. Kelly and Nina were enemies, and within one hour of Kelly’s arrival, she told Nina everything, and apparently in vivid detail.

Nina confronted him in his bedroom, and that’s when his sentence without her began. The begging, the pleading, the fight that ensued had torn him apart from the inside out. He’d done everything to hold onto her, including deny that anything happened with Kelly and finally ended by forcing himself on top of Nina on the bed so she couldn’t get away."

What I still don't understand is what "Deeper than love" means to the author. Can't keep his cock in his pants and because of that dumped his "great love" so he can fuck all the women around?! Yep, God save me from such a deeeeeeep love! And from what we saw he didn't learn the lesson, did he? If this review had not been so long I would tell about the other betrayal that happens in the book, but I've already wasted a lot of my time with this crap. Soooo much for some originality !!

....OK Nina really got on my last nerve going back and forth with Reese....and that damn mother Gloria, what kind of mother was she...making million dollar deals, arranging her adult daughter's wedding, she was just a mess! Gloria was just a greedy individual and she tried to ruin her oldest daughter's relationship & marriage, but Lindsey understood the type of mother they have....Finally, Nina caught on...although it was at the very last minute and almost too late.

The author was doing the most with the last two books. Especially with Deeper Than Love. I did not enjoy this book as much as I did the others but, that's only because, Reese and Nina spent more time apart than they spent together. No one wants to see the main characters torn apart that much. Reese spent more than half of the book trying to convince Nina to give him another chance. When they finally did get back together, they got six chapters of reunion bliss before Nina's conniving azz mama ruined it. I was not a fan of Nina’s. She was extremely too hot and cold towards Reese for me. When she found out Gloria pretty much brokered her into an arranged marriage without her knowledge, she was still going to marry Andy! And, when she and Reese were arguing, she all but told him she was marrying Andy just to hurt him. Yeah by the end of this book, I couldn’t stand Nina. When he interrupted their wedding, I was screaming, “Don’t do it Reese!” That heffa didn’t deserve him. This book was loaded with drama. When I tell y’all it was giving me all the Madea’s Family Reunion feels. Nina, Lindsey, and Gloria were definitely channeling their inner Lisa, Vanessa, and Victoria. Deeper Than Love is my least favorite book in the Brooks Family series. Nina and Reese had to fight too hard to get to their HEA. Generally when a series end, I’m usually sad but I was too happy for this one to wrap up.

Separation ten years.
During separation both been with others.

When it starts the Hero gets out of bed from spending the night with two women, as he leaving the hotel he sees the heroine again.

The Hero thinks..
'It bothered him that she thought he remained unchanged when, in reality, he was simply killing time with other women until he won her back.'
When they meet back up the heroine has a boyfriend.
The Hero and heroine see each other as friends but it felt to me like emotional cheating on her boyfriend.
She thinks 'She’d always thought of cheating as the sexual joining of two bodies, but could dirty thoughts be considered cheating? If she wanted a man who wasn’t her boyfriend, if she were wet simply from touching him, did that count as cheating, too?'

When her and her fiance take an official break, she has sex with the Hero and starts a relationship with him. She admits herself that she doesn't think her fiance thinks it involves having sex with other people.

It's an interracial story though there isn't a huge mention of it.
It's also a billionaire story, both families are rich so money is no issue.

I wanted to give it less than three stars as the heroine I thought behaved very badly, she was like the old mills and boon heroines who couldn't resist once the Hero touched or even looked at her.
But it is well written.

Page turner!

Once I started reading I couldn’t stop until I was finished. The passion and excitement between Reese and Nina is incomparable! Taking a page from his parents history of a fifteen year separation before getting back together, Reese know as that Nina is the only one for him. Fantastic read!

Another enjoyable Brooks romance. Will Reese be able to convince Nina that he's a better man and that he ONLY desires her in his life and in his bed? Or will he mess up again and send her into the arms of the other man that wants to marry her...HMMM?! An entertaining and engaging read. Hope this isn't the end of the Brooks family series.

I ... :X
I FEEL like I missed big chunks of this audiobook?
But also like :X even when I KNOW I was really paying attention there were a lot of O_o pivots and I was like "... what?" So :X Maybe I didn't miss anything?

but erring on the side of caution [and being kind to this book ... I'm not rating it...]

:\ it just ... and maybe some of it was colored by me DNFing book 4 - but also maybe I slogged through this way more because I felt guilty for DNF'd the other book because...

This book is a lot.
Everyone is kinda ... the worst.

The book opens with Reese having a threesome with 2 women "just to pass the time" - even though supposedly he's MADLY IN LOVE WITH Nina.
And then Nina is ... a mess -and I get being hurt by Reese, and then you have the curveball other information at the end - but what bothers me is she's all "YOU DECEIVED ME" to him - but then is totally fine with her fiance deceiving her? O_o

[Actually it seems more like .... Nina's biggest problem with Reese is that he broke up with her a decade ago- and then slept with a random girl he never knew but turned out to be her "worst enemy" - like ... how was he supposed to know?]

But really - Reese apparently ... I mean IDEK he's a man whore.
He also does love Nina and treats her well, but otherwise he's a manchild. He's "only" 29 ... which - actually is pretty on point for being a man child [unfortunately] but like ...

These people.
[I actually half expected Nina's fiance to sleep with the girl she hated in HS during their break ... "break"] -I felt Nina was kinda the worst cuz she picks right up with Reese on the break bu then is all "I'm going to marry dude!" and ... literally I've been thinking for a few hours and I THINK the fiance's name is Andy? Andy .. Von Trapp? O_o
Which.
>.>

But like - it got to be so much/too much.

And her INSANELY toxic mom. And it was SO obvious her fiance was shady and he kept negging her.
A lot of it just felt pointless/that it was thrown in there to create drama and drag shit out.

:\
Reese and Nina re also only together for like 5-10% of the book.
I actually AM kinda mad I read this.
I don't want to rate it one star but ... if I could I'd rate it 1.25 :|
D- - .... -
yeah. I was going to rate it 2 stars but ... it wasn't "okay" it was "i did not like it."

:\

And I'd liked so many other Delaney Diamond books.
:X not sure if I should keep trying more ... but I probably will. So there is that at least.

Yes definitely deeper than love!

From the beginning something felt off with Nina's mother because she was pushing for a marriage of Nina and Andy just a bit too hard. Things started adding up when Nina told Reese that although her deceased father provided for her mother in his will it was never enough for her mother. Nina realized finally that Andy was not interested in marrying her out of love and at the last minute made the right decision with some serious pushing from Reese. I like Reese and Nina together rather than Andy and Nina because Andy always presented as having a hidden agenda. In my opinion Andy neither respected nor supported Nina. Instead of boosting her confidence, Andy took every opportunity to make her believe she was inadequate. A marriage between Nina and Andy would have only made her mother, Andy and Andy's father happy. I believe that had Nina married Andy, father and son would have wrest Nina's company from her and treated her to a life of misery!!!! I so loved this story and found myself wanting to slap both Andy and Nina's mother but since I am not prone to violence, I had to let that desire go 😊! Delaney I was not disappointed with Reese and Nina' story. The only disappointment is that this is the last Brooks story. Reading the Brooks family stories keep me connected to their cousins the Johnson family from Seattle. I loved the story though it ends my time with this family. Thank you Delaney!!!!

Once again, we are hanging out with the Brooks family. Black millionaires/billionaires and they are just as shallow and unreal as ever.
In this story as the other ones. None of these characters in any of these series feel like real people. They feel manufactured/fake. The endless descriptions of wealth come across as contrived and annoying. Like we get it, they’re rich, but what else is there? Everyone is annoying and exhausting as usual.
We’re introduced to Nina and Reese in this ridiculous story. Nina is immature and stupid af. I wish she’d been given more agency and more common sense. She’s like a teenager. Nina is whiny, boring and basic af. Her is so indecisive about Andy and Reese and it’s not a hard decision. We don’t really get a sense of who she actually is or what she actually wants. Andy should’ve been a hard pass because no self-respecting black woman would date a biracial white, presenting men who insists that she straightens her natural hair all the time.
Reese was a good choice but only because the book forces you to believe he is but he’s actually not. Nina needs to grow up first.
Also we’re supposed to believe she’s able to run an entire company that she just started working at because she’s an heir??? I’m not convinced. Aren’t you supposed to go to school for that? Totally ridiculous. Both Nina and Reese should’ve been presented as more mature, complex and human like.

Love the Brooks Family!

Confession: this current political climate has me sick to death of billionaires. And sometimes, billionaire romances get on my nerves. But I absolutely, without a doubt, love the Brooks Family, and their cousins, the Johnson Family. They’re all billionaires, but Delaney Diamond has breathed so much life into them, that it’s hard not to love them. And even though she is over the top, Sylvie is my absolute favorite. I love her!

I’ve been waiting to meet and learn more about the elusive Nina Winthrop, and she didn’t disappoint. How she didn’t see who Andy was boggles the mind, but I’m glad she broke free of that guy. And Reese. He loved him some Nina, which was adorable.
I really enjoyed their story.

Hoping this is not the last we see of the Brooks and the Johnsons. But if it is, I know that Ms. Diamond has more interesting characters to introduce us to. Looking forward to meeting them.

Second chance at love

As the Brooks Family series come to an end. The story of Reese and Nina, is one we all must reconcile. Is love enough? Is it better to play it safe? What we do know is where deceptive practices are involved love will not conquer it nor will playing it safe.

With this story Delaney was able to capture what it means to fight for love. Reese recognized the errors of his past and sought to fight until the very end to amend past wrongs. Nina conflicted by the pain of the past had to see for herself that being with Andy wasn't a sure bet.

In this story you see passion and purpose. Redemption and resolution. You root for the happily ever after because in it all we all want our hearts desire.

Second Chance At Love

I really can't stand parents like Gloria who are so money hungry and try to manipulate their kids to live how they want them to live. Gloria was so shady to enter into the agreement with Corbin in the event that Andy and Nina married. Gloria knew that Reese was going to propose to Nina and that's why she showed those pictures to Nina even though she knew that nothing happened. I think that Andy knew about the agreement between Gloria and his dad Corbin and that he was going to try to take Nina's company from her. I'm glad that Reese shut Andy and Nina's wedding all the way down and that Malik had his back. I'm glad that Reese and Nina got their HEA.

This book wasn’t what I expected. I felt so many of their issues could have been resolved if they had just communicated with each other. Reese was persistent but in an aggressive way. Nina just seemed like she was confused through this whole book and I just wanted her to make up her mind and stick with it. I did feel the book was very relatable because we’ve all been in a situation where we love someone with all we have but we just don’t trust them to not break our heart again. Overall, I liked the story, I just would have preferred a different storyline.

Such a disappointment.
DD writes well but ultimately this book was pretty horrible. The hypocrisy, loose morality and entitlement of the characters… (not to mention some downright stupidity and flimsiness of the heroine) made it impossible to actually root for this couple.
Characters aren’t supposed to be perfect but geez do they have to be utterly unlikable and amoral for no reason?
A shame this fell so short. I’d love to say there was potential but I couldn’t find it.

Lov sometimes is not enough. Reese seriously messed up at age 19 and realized his error too late. I thought Nina was done with him but prayed she'd give them another chance. Unfortunately, too many others, like Nina's mother, wanted them to stay apart and for their own selfish reasons. Nina and Reese also didn't help their cause by continuing to keep doing stupid things. My emotions were on a never-ending rollercoaster the entire book. A definite page turning good book!

I enjoyed this book! Great chemistry between Nina and Reese.
At first I didn’t like Reese, but soon, I got to be on his side, rooting for him to win back Nina.
This book has all the cheesy drama that makes a lovely romance novel— family meddling, jealous exes, and wedding crashing.
I love drama.

I just love the Brooks Family. The love, unity, support and kindness that they have about themselves puts them in a catalog all by themselves. Reese and Nina had a love that was so great that they never stopped loving one another after ten years. That's a great love.

Love it 👏🏾👏🏾

Most mothers wants their daughters to marry for love, but Gloria was one selfish woman, Lindsay did the right thing, and let her sister know what’s up. My boy Reese, right to follow his heart and get his woman, and leave’s Andy their, looking like fool he is. Is Nina pregnant? Hope so!!!

Excellent read

Excellent read, I enjoyed the characters and storyline. Reese and Nina were teenaged lovers, who reconnected after ten years. They had to overcome misunderstandings and manipulation to realize they never stopped loving each other. I recommend this book.

Quick Thoughts: This was the most weak installment of the series, which otherwise was super enjoyable. I couldn't connect with the heroine who I found a bit annoying. The storyline with the mother was also frustrating.
