Falling in love with the goodie-goodie in school was never post to happen. Watching her in the color guard all summer long on the field during football practice makes me want her no matter what. She's the type of girl the preppy girls pick on but she's truly a beautiful girl. She keeps me at arm’s length no matter what I do. She’s convinced I’m just another stupid jock who likes to party too much and play games on and off the field. Convincing the prettiest girl in school to give me a chance forever changes the courses of our lives. No matter what she says or does, we are destined to fall in love and our destiny will forever change my world in the end as nothing will ever be the same again.
I get wanting to sell your books but to fake your own death and then come back with no remorse for hurting so many and taking their money. Shame on you
Author pretended to die by self on her social media and then announced she actually didn’t and it was a lie. Let’s not support the person who laughs at suicide and treats mental illness as a fun popularising thing.
Fantastic book full of emotions. For a young lad who was destined for trouble he is saved by Hope. Their love was real and it is portrayed very well. Cant wait for next book!
Narrated by Jeremy Frazier He’s a voice over actor who began in narrating in 2005. This is an unabridged short story and book 1 in the Finding Me duet. This is my first listen by Jeremy. It’s a good performance. Jeremy doesn’t go above and beyond. I appreciate the effort he put into his performance. Jeremy does a good job performing the male character. Although, I always struggle listening to men perform female voices. I listened at 2.2x speed. Losing Hope was written by Susan Meachen. This is the third audiobook I’ve listened to that was written by her. Unfortunately, her writing style and voice doesn’t hold my interest. Im not finding myself immersed in the characters lives. The words don’t move me the way I need them to.
Hope is the main female character and Dale is the main male character. Dale is the popular guy in school who plays football. Hope is the good girl who stays clear of the popular crowd. Losing Hope is about Dale wanting to gain the attention of Hope. He aims fir friendship in the hopes that it becomes more. It’s a cute young adult contemporary romance between high school teenagers. It’s an easy read. The story is a day to day telling of these two main characters lives. I must admit the minute details do not propel this story forward. Susan covered all the typical milestone moments that happen during junior and senior year, but it was redundant with the constant comments regarding past mistakes and not ruining their future. Susan overdramatized some scenes, but it’s too be expected when writing about the high school years. Susan wrote Dale’s character with that matter of fact quality. Unfortunately, I never connected with these characters due to the lack of emotions.
Dale has moved around a lot in his lifetime. Before his junior year, he had been to twelve different schools. The one thing that allowed for him to connect to anyone was football. He was a star football player. And he was determined to connect to his new school and develop friendships during the last two years of school. Then he sees Hope.
Hope is a good Christian girl. She has never dated anyone before. She is unaware of what happens with that process and has never opened herself up to the possibility. Until Dale. There is something about him. And he is persistent.
What they have, is a love that will stand the test of time. But it is young, and they will have issues along the way. Until one fateful day. A good read. A tough read.
Title: Losing Hope Book One in Finding Me Duet Author: Susan Meachen Reviewer: Lorraine Leatham - Rainey Day Book Reviews Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Susan Meachen has done it again. Get ready with the tissues and settle in. Dale certainly wasn’t planning on falling for a girl who doesn’t date. Hope has seen how all the jocks behave and doesn't want any part of him or them. Dale will stop at nothing to change her mind. Even if it means just being friends. Take a chance and follow Dale on a journey that you will not forget.
Heartbreaking. everything is perfect, until the irreparable happens. the title says it all, but the story between them is so beautiful that even if you know something bad is going to happen, it doesn't help making it any less sad when it does. book 2 promises us a happy ending, so i will definitely read it to see this beautiful hearted guy live again. the narrator has a sweet tone that fits the MC and he story perfectly. I received a free copy of this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
The reading binge of these books has led me to realize they are so generic I don't even think my local Dollar General would carry them. I'm going to have to redact my statement of saying these are Dollar General books because even Dollar General books don't give me a character named Hope who saves a broken hearted main character.
It's a sad man who meets a woman with an ironic name book and I'm just not here for it. At least there wasn't too much fixation on grief, but it still has that vibe that she's been putting into each book.
Dale and his family moved around all the time and the only thing that Dale had every time was football. One day his family went to his grandparents farm and when they started to talk about following the next big job Dale asked to stay with his grandparents instead and the next thing he knew was finding the love of his life Hope. Can they keep their love or will they lose it before high school is done. This book will make you cry
If it was possible, the entire extent of this review would be a gif of someone ripping my heart out and setting it on fire. I mean, I’m not shocked. It’s right in the title, but come on!! Reading this has brought to mind, all the empty things people say to you when you’ve lost someone that means so much. Yes they’re mostly true things, but they don’t mean anything when you’re buried in grief. I’m grieving with Dale.
This was a very touching and loving story that will be sure to leave you wanting more. I had to read this in bits because of the emotions I was feeling while reading it. It was so nice have the warm fuzzy when it was the happy parts, the parts that real;y does give you hope for the couple, the story....even maybe hope for whatever is going on in you life. I cant wait to read the next part to see how it turns out.
I knew by the name of the title I should have expected it, but i didn't see it coming at all! Be prepared for this one, it can certainly be a tear jerker at times. I listened to this book on audible and thought the narrator did a great job. I enjoyed him changing voices when he was narrating a different character. Book was well written and the story line kept me hooked- definitely planning on reading the next book!
I loved this book. The characters are engaging and well developed with plenty of chemistry that will leave you reeling by tragedy. The storyline flows smoothly page to page and had me turning the pages as fast as I could read the words.

Oh my heart! Let me just say first off.....grab the tissues. This one made me cry! I loved Dale and Hope....they were new and funny and so very right for each other. They were opposites, but so compatible at the same time. You want to read this story, I promise.
Let me just say this book grabbed my attention from the first page. Susan Meachen has another winner on her hands! You will want to have some tissues close by because your emotions will be completely out of your control. I have loved all of the books by this author and I love this one too!!
Dale didn’t know what to expect when coming home to TN. He sure didn’t expect to want to stay or that he would find romance or some could say true love. A page turner until the end. I can’t wait for book 2 in this series to see where Dale will end up next.
It was a well written book with romantic and sad twist. Had to cry at the end (and I never ever cry!!) it was so so sad. Two young souls destined for each other and that..... so so bitter sweet. Really don't know if I can read the second one. It was great but to heavy for me. If you like stories with deep characters and you don't hate cliffhangers you need to read this.
I thought the book read like a contemporary lit. It did read a bit slow as a result. Small town pacing for small town life. It does hang in a cliffhanger. I think you can guess what happens when you read the title of book 2.
The book is a good romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry. The story is an enjoyable tearjerker read.

A beautiful story loaded with emotions. This story is a perfect modern day romance where you feel for the couple. Solid plot with memorable characters. #Waiting4Book2
A really great story, such raw powerful story. The characters are intense with deep meaningful connections. Yet another great story by one of my one click authors.
I enjoyed Hope & Dale's story. This was a new author for me. Good characters. It was a warm, fuzzy read. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book! It is a real tear jerker full of intensity, suspense and romance. Dale’s Faith is immensely tested in this book after losing Hope in an accident. Will Dale believe again? Will he ever find faith in falling in love ever again? If you like an ugly cry book this is it. My emotions were all over the place. I highly recommend this book. Take a chance and follow Dale on his journey, you won’t regret it
Susan Meachen has done it again. Well written page turner. Dale wasn’t planning on falling for the one girl who doesn’t date but life has other plans. Hope has seen how the jocks behave and wants no part of it or him. Dale will do anything to change her mind even if it just means being her friend. Dale hopes she will see that destiny has other plans for them. Will Hope believe he’s sincere? Or keep him at arms length? I definitely recommend this book. Losing Hope will pull at your heart strings and show you God always has a plan for all of us.
