It all began with murder and magic. A spell to warn the world. A curse to mark the champion. Everyone in the Seven Isles felt it – Alexander most of all.
When he loses his brother to an assassin’s arrow, Alexander discovers that his family descends from an ancient and royal bloodline – a line bound by a curse to stand against the coming darkness.
Pursued by minions of an ancient evil, Alexander reluctantly finds himself at the center of a war that was supposed to have ended millennia ago. To survive, he must recover the legendary Thinblade and claim his throne.
Failure will kill him. Success will transform him. The Seven Isles hangs in the balance. Trouble is, the sword’s been lost for ages and the enemy is closing in.
Thinblade is the first book in The Sovereign of the Seven Isles, a sprawling epic fantasy adventure. If you like fast paced action, world-shaking magic, and a hero worthy of the title, you’re going to love the Seven Isles.
Since my childhood, I've been passionate about fantasy. After reading many stories of epic struggle set in worlds of magic, I've decided to create a world of my own. The Seven Isles is the result.
I have read the first 4 books in this series. This is a must read. Will keep you reading till the last page Mr. Wells you have out done you self. Looking forward to the next book in series. If you love dragons, magic, and adventure you will enjoy this series.
Extremely well written !! For all fans of Epic sword & sorcery this is a rare jewel. I was riveted to the pages wanting more and more, not wanting to put this novel down.
Well written adventurous, war no matter real or written in books. Man always wants more than what they have to rule the world. Sad really. Hope peace will be found within these pages.
I have got to admit that this chance read proved to be entertaining, the character's are well rounded and the story moves along at a good pace, keeping you interested. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
This writer is obviously a fan of several other well-known authors since you can see sections and names taken from other works. It didn't start badly but by the end, if you can call it that, you just want it to be over. The protagonists are not really likeable as far as becoming concerned with their well-being. The main antagonist is barely in any of the books other than by name and proxy. The amount of repetitive dangers and obstacles gets to be boring to the point you simply skip sections of the book skimming for something to move the story along. The numbers used for the armies are massive especially for a society at the level this is supposed to be. And even though the main character has ways to not only move troops but communicate over long distance easily he never uses the obvious. After long hours trudging through these books not one thing is resolved by the end. Every one of the storylines Is left open ended with zero resolutions. I guess to hopefully sell the next edition of stories. Wish I had passed on this series as it was less than fun to read especially with nothing finished in the end.
This series started very strong. The writing is solid. World building is very good. The plot is slightly on the weak side, but that’s not a deal breaker. What IS a deal breaker is that the characters in this first four novel set feel like they regress and become more formulaic and inane as the series progresses. The author seems to have a slightly misogynistic, idealized authoritarian worldview. He has the main character use terms like “commanded” instead of requested. Also, the author uses tired tropes like different females / love interests getting kidnapped and needing to be rescued. And don’t get me started on the MC referring to his bonded familiar by a stupid pet name instead of using her actual name! I don’t think I counted more than 4 instances when the main character used her name like someone would for an actual sentient being. All in all, this series is like looking at Corvette, only to realize it’s got a Chevette motor!
This book is full of women, stupid, treacherous and just plain annoying. Likewise the Reishi Lord became burdened by his Love for Isabel and started behaving like a total fool. Having said that there are some good battles and scenes of war to enjoy, at third hand, and the very irritation kept me keen to read to the end. Now straight on to the next instalment
Exciting, nerve-racking and quite difficult to put down.
No one recommended this I was going through the library and chose it I go by the number of stars it has this one had quite a few. I like fantasy I like magic. I like this genre.
Couldn't put it down. Lots of villains, heros, heroines. And to think this magical world came from a young mind from Eastern Oregon. Magical from the start
The overall development of the characters and the numerous changes to the many stories are outstanding. Buying the four box set was an excellent procedure. I can't wait to read the remaining books.
A great read, it captures your imagination and doesn’t let go
Fans of Terry Goodkind and David Eddings won’t be disappointed with this series. Mr. Wells is a masterful storyteller and this series is well deserving of a five star rating. Mr. Well keep ‘‘em coming.
Great story line, interesting read but too much padding/ redundancy. Language sometimes changes from old to modern English. Still loved the story which made me continue reading
A thrilling page turner that will keep you reading. Darkness versus light with magic creatures of all types. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action. I look forward to the next one.
This set of books take you into the lives of Alexander and Abigail. It is based around the fight between good and evil. It is set in a world of fantasy and has been an easy and enjoyable read.
Thanks Mr Wells, its been a long time since I've enjoyed any read as much as this. Adventure, Magic, Love... (And not trashy love, but pure and clean). I'll read this yearly as I do with the few grand tales I've "bonded" with over my many years. Thank you again.
