This is a manuscript of poems I wrote sequentially in the twenty six months after my son took his own life. He was a beautiful, wonderful human being. This is something you never come over. I hope that others might find some comfort in knowing they are not alone in their grief.

After
By
Daniel Hettenbach

Review:
I love reading poems. This time, I got my hands on Daniel Hettenbach's book "After". This book has a collection of poems which the author has written sequentially after his son took his own life.

Parents love their kids more than anything else in the world. Losing a child is something a parent could never get over. In his poem 'I know i had a heart', Daniel has expressed his pain. He has written that his heart is gone with his son. Also, it will never heal. The emotions expressed in these poems are very deep.

i know i had a heart
because it's gone.
half of you tore away
and you'd know it
by the pain of it.
the itching and searing
of a thing that will never heal
a defeating agony that
won't give up.

There are many parents who have lost their kids. They could understand the pain behind each word well. Those who are in grief would know through this book that they're not alone. These poems will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The title of the book is suitable and the language used in this book is lucid. Even if you aren't an avid poetry reader, you could follow these poems easily.

𝑻𝒊𝒕𝒍𝒆: After

𝑴𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘:
"After" written by the author Daniel Hettenbach is a collection of poems. This book was written by the author after his son took his own life. The moment I read this sentence, I felt so much pain. I couldn't imagine how tough it has been for Daniel and his family to bear this loss.

Daniel has expressed his situation in the form of poems. Every day Daniel misses his son. He spends his days in pain and loss. He has mentioned that he will wait forever for his son. This book tells the other readers that if they have faced a tragedy in life, it's okay to grieve for your loved ones. Also, you are not alone in your grief journey.

I strongly recommend this book to all teenagers or adults. Before taking their life, children should think about what will happen to their parents after them. No parents want to outlive their child. So, a child should never think about the suicide. I wish God would give strength to those who have to bear the loss of their loved one.

BOOK REVIEW: After. by Daniel Hettenbach

Recently I got my hands on the book After. It's a poetry book written by Daniel Hettenbach. This book is a collection of sad emotions of grief. Daniel who has lost his son couldn't bear his loss and he has been in pain since then. It has been years but Daniel doesn't think that he could heal.

I wish no parent would have to see the day when their children would end his/her own life. There is pain in Daniel's words and the readers would be able to feel it. These poems are heartbreaking but they also give strength to the ones who are in pain too. It would make them feel that ugly things happen with all of us in life and we can grieve at our own pace.

I wish happiness to those who are in pain right now. I hope one day there will be healing. This is a great poetry book. The author is true with his feelings in this book and he has shared about his days and life after losing his son. The book is written well. I appreciate the author for sharing his journey with us. Go for this book without any second thoughts.
