Men of Meadowfall #2

Omega Teacher's Baby

Rate this book
an alternate cover edition can be found here

Divorced and shamed for his infertility, Professor Dale Kinney has spent the past ten years proving his worth: by building a solid research lab in his field. With his tenure two years away, everything's finally going right... except he also has a secret.

Dale has a crush on his student—Greg Hastings. Sweet, straight-A alpha, and also the college president's son. Greg has been asking Dale out for coffee since semester began. And it's been taking all of Dale's self-control to turn him down.

Four years ago, Greg lost his best friend in a fire. At eighteen, he'd had ambitious plans: build a home, drive fast cars, live his life. At twenty-two, he's lost his courage to believe. How can he be there for an omega when he couldn't save his best friend? How can he promise anyone a future? The only things keeping him afloat—college basketball, and the cute, awkward professor in his classes, who sneaks glances at Greg when he thinks Greg isn't looking.

When Greg stumbles on Professor Kinney in heat, the spark between them explodes into an inferno. And despite countless failed attempts at pregnancy... Dale conceives. Dale refuses to abort the child. Greg refuses to abandon this omega. With the pregnancy an increasingly difficult secret to keep, will their slow-burning love cauterize their wounds, or burn them down?

Omega Teacher's Baby is a steamy 100,000-word May/Dec Teacher/Student romance, with paper cranes, rabbit onesies and a young alpha who wants to stay by his omega no matter what. There is no cheating, no cliffhangers, but definitely a happily ever after.

I think this may have just bumped Wizard by the Sea out of my favorite book by this author spot! I LOVED this story so, so, so much!

Of course, I am reminded of Leta Blake's Slow Heat when first starting to read this - teacher/student relationship, human ABO world, age gap of 20 years, you name it. But this stands as being unique on its own at the same time. I LOVED the scent markers and bonding elements (I wish more ABO 'verse stories had that incorporated actually) and I love how important that is in this series.

Dale is an omega teacher hoping to reach tenure at the college he works at. For the past couple months, one of his students, Greg, has been asking him for coffee - but surely he can't really be seriously interested in an old, infertile omega, right? Not when Greg is the star athlete, son of the dean of college, and has such a promising future ahead of him, right?

I loved Greg's steadfastness in his wanting and then love for Dale. He's not afraid or ashamed of it, and he just knows that Dale is IT for him, despite the age difference and knowing his past. I LOVED that. And I loved how he just knew he would take care of Dale and the baby. UGH I loved him. Dale had been treated horribly by his ex-husband and his family, so he is understandably weary when he comes to Greg, and he has that whole, "I'm going to make this decision for your own good, you're better off without me" mentality that just made my heart break around the 77-85% part of the story, But it's so beautiful, and it's so wonderful at the end, and I just LOVED IT.

CANNOT wait for the next book in the series! If you want some human, non-shifter ABO with KNOTTING and scent-marking and bonding, and mpreg, and wonderfulness, you must read this story! Very easy to stand alone since Felix and Kade just make a brief appearance.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Oh dear. The plot of this book is not an unusual trope, but the characters inside - good grief.

Both MCs are morons, and while I can excuse the younger one for being and acting dumb, the other is supposedly 42 years old and a college professor, and acts like he hasn't got two brain cells to rub together. He knows having a relationship with his student is wrong, and he can get fired for it. But he does it anyway. In his office. ON CAMPUS! IN HIS OFFICE!! Because he's an omega in heat, and all rationale is out the window, when he's near his alpha, don't you know.

The younger of them lives in an apartment paid for by his parents, WHO HAVE A KEY and can thus enter ANY TIME without warning. And yet, he feels it's perfectly okay to have SEX WITH HIS PROFESSOR on his couch, without any thought to if Daddy might walk in on them.

And obviously, the apparently infertile omega isn't infertile after all, and oops, he's now pregnant with HIS STUDENT'S BABY! More dumbfuckery ensues.

JFC.

The only reason this has two stars is because the writing style isn't half bad. But please give your characters brains.

🔆3.5 stars rounded up!🔆

Overall, this was a good first time reading this author for me. I was having trouble looking for something to read and thought "How about some mpreg?" and mpreg can be a hit or miss, easy - miss more than hit, usually - but overall I'd say this was a hit for me for this new to me author.

The writing was good, the story structure was good, the characters were interesting, story was interesting.

I liked Greg a lot, he was my favorite of the two. Greg is the 22 year old Alpha who is Dale's student, who gets him pregnant.

Dale is the 42 year old Omega professor who Greg pursues and who totally has a big 'ol crush on Greg.

Dale was, for the most part, likable. After awhile his constant "we shouldn't be doing this" "you're my student" "this is wrong" "we should stop this" - both saying and thinking it - got tiresome and annoying. But with just that, overall I would have this story probably 4.5 stars. Because despite how annoying that was, Dale was still giving into his desires with Greg, he and Greg still had sweet, romantic moments, as well as sexy moments, so it wasn't that much of a deterrent to my overall enjoyment of the story up to a certain point.

But around 77%, things went to shit, and Dale annoyed the fuck out of me and just pissed me off, until about 90% when he finally gets his head out of his ass.

Look, okay, the main story is that Greg is the son of the president of the university that Greg goes to and Dale works at. Now Greg's father is an asshole, who has a specific future for Greg in mind that he wants Greg to follow, and not only does he disapprove because Dale is Greg's professor - which is the only understandable part - but he looks down on Dale and looks down on him and threatens to make things difficult if Greg and Dale continue to see each other, and so on.

So to a certain extent, I understand why Dale does what he does. But the way he goes about it? Absolutely pisses me off.

It was all TOO much. And if the rest of the book hadn't been so good enjoyable, I probably would have rated this book 1 or 2 stars just for this stretch of the book alone. It was such bullshit, so contrived, so stupid and eye-roll inducing.

And Dale? Doesn't really face any consequences for his idiocy. Greg doesn't call him out on his shit, not Dale's friends, no one. And then they just go on to have the baby and be happy and all that, which was nice on it's own, no doubt, but with what had just happened, I wish Dale had faced just a little more consequences, at least a little more ire for his stupidity and bullshit.

So that is why I gave this 3.5 stars instead of more, even though for the majority of this book, I was enjoying it a lot and loving the characters and their relationship and the story and all that. Which is why I also rounded up instead of down. Because for the most part, I enjoyed this and I think my rating should reflect that.

But if the rest of the book hadn't held up? This book would have gotten quite a few stars less just because of the bullshit that happens for 13% of this book near the end. It put such a damper on a really enjoyable book.

So would I recommend this? Hmm....before 77%, I would have said hell yes, if you're into mpreg. Now, I'm not sure. I'd leave it up to you guys.

I can say that this is good, it has hot sex scenes, good chemistry, good romance between these two for the most part. And the majority of this book IS good, IS enjoyable for sure.

But that stretch of the book is just...so rage inducing, that I almost don't want to recommend this. And Dale's "he deserves better" over and over and over again CONSTANTLY up until that bad stretch is really annoying.

So....while I'm rounding up to 4 stars with this, if what I put under the spoiler section sounds like it would piss you off a lot like it did me, then no, I wouldn't recommend this. IF you think you could live through reading it and don't think it would piss you off a ton, then I'd say I recommend this.

Because overall, I found this author to be a good writer, and that's hard to come by with published mpreg stories, I think. But also...this author wrote that nonsensical, stupid, ridiculous, rage inducing stretch of the book. SO.....it's really up to you.

In the end, I had a lot of mixed emotions when it came to this. It was well done overall, but also fell into the trap of angst for angst's sake with not much of the character's motivations making much sense. So...yeah.

A mixed bag, in the end.

I was looking for a fluffy, light-hearted read and I found it in Omega Teacher's Baby
I loved the age gap, I loved the fact that the Alpha (Greg) was the younger of the two. If the Alpha was older, then it would have been a bit uncomfortable, as the older man (Dale) is the Alpha's Professor.
The story was told so Greg was clearly the aggressor in the relationship. Dale has such poor self-esteem because of a past emotionally/verbally relationship. He repeatedly states he's not worthy of love. The problem with this story is he states this OVER and OVER again.
If I had a dollar for every time Dale stated he wasn't worthy, or "we shouldn't do this", or "you're my student/I'm your professor"....I could afford to buy all the books in my TBR list.
I can see Dale haven't self-esteem issues, but truly...he was soooo whiny I really couldn't see what Greg saw in him. It really wasn't expressed what the attraction was for Greg.

Despite all this, the story kept my attention to the end, I was rooting for them (for some reason). I think a lot of it was Greg, and how mature and sweet he was and how much he really supported Dale. The book fulfilled it's purpose, which was to get me out of a funk.

Omega Teacher's Baby is the second book in the Men of Meadowfall series by Anna Wineheart. I first read about Professor Dale Kinney and Greg Hastings in a short story called Teacher in Heat during a professor/student short story promotion event through instafreebie. I fell in love with both characters and wanted to know what happened to them after their first taboo encounter. And it was like the author heard my cry for more because she took the story I loved and made it into a full-length novel and answered all of my questions about what happened and if they got their happy ending. And all I have to say is the book was hot, hot, hot. It pushed all of my happy buttons with some of my favorite tropes. I have always loved the taboo teacher/student books and then to throw in an older/younger theme as well. And not the typical older/younger theme where the alpha is the older and the omega is the younger but the other way around which was a great treat and made it even more taboo and gave it a cougar vibe. I loved the book, and I can't wait to read more books by Anna Wineheart. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I bought a copy because I loved it that much.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, so of course I had to download the second book in the series as soon as it was available. And...I didn't really like it.

I guess part of the problem is that this story has some tropes that I'm just not a fan of generally. The whole mpreg thing is kind of odd to me; I mean, no shame in anyone's game, but that just isn't something that I see in a book's description and think "OMG MUST READ GIMME GIMME GIMME." But, like I said, I did enjoy the first book in the series, and that had mpreg in it, so I was definitely willing to give the trope another go.

I'm also not a fan of age gap romances most of the time. There have been some that have really captivated me, but those stories had other reasons (fantastic writing, engaging plot, amazing characters, etc), and the age gap thing just kind of faded into the background for me. Once again, I am not trying to say that this trope sucks or anyone who enjoys it should be ashamed or whatever - it just isn't something that I particularly enjoy.

There's a definite age gap here - Dale is 20 years older than Greg. Theoretically. Except he doesn't really come across that way as a character. Dale has been hurt, so I get that he's kind of sheltered himself away from the world and this might have stunted his emotional maturity a bit. I also understand that he's an omega, which affects things (more on that later). But, honestly, for being Greg's college professor (and, believe me, there is no way that you won't remember that, because Dale brings it up at least a zillion times in the story), he doesn't seem that much more mature than Greg. Twenty years is a big gap, and there's a lot of life experience in there, but it just didn't come across that way.

Anyway. Dale's been told that he's practically infertile. He was divorced because of his infertility, which is apparently a big shame in this society, and he's dedicated himself to chemistry and his professional work. But he has the hots for Greg, not only a student in his class but the college's president's son, and Greg is pursuing him something fierce.

I think a lot of people who like the age gap dynamic might be a bit disappointed in this one, simply because there isn't really an emotional gap between the two characters. Also, the older character is usually portrayed as more worldly/experienced/dominant in these kinds of stories, and Dale is, well, not any of these things, really. I guess one could argue that it's trying to subvert the trope a bit or whatever, but I really don't see it that way, and that comes across more as a happy accident than anything else.

The dynamics in this world...I don't really like them. I know that at least part of the point of a/b/o fiction is that omegas are generally weaker and need protecting and all of this bullshit, but it just wasn't working for me here. Dale was treated like absolute garbage because of his infertility, and was essentially tossed aside as a productive member of society simply because he couldn't have children. Furthermore, omegas are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to professional goals, as well.

And that brings me to the second thing that really made this book unenjoyable for me.

Apparently there was also a third thing that really bothered me, but I didn't bother to write it down in my notebook, and I can't remember what it is. LOL If I remember that, I'll come back to rant. ;)

I did enjoy that there were lesbian couples in this world - apparently no one really cares who is gay/straight/bi etc, you're just supposed to pair off according to your alpha/beta/omega status. But that did leave me with a question or two.

Altogether, this really wasn't an enjoyable book for me.

Professor Dale Kinney, a 42 year old omega, is being pursued by his 22 year old chemistry student, Alpha Greg Hastings, son of the college president, Bernard Hastings.

This was a bit of an annoying read for me. I wanted to shake Dale to make him understand his own worth and self esteem. And that was exactly what Greg tried to do.
In spite of all Bernard's actions to push his son towards a marriage of status, Greg holds firm and chooses his omega mate, Dale.

Overall, this was a sweet read with likeable characters and an even sweeter HEA.

An age-gap May/December romance (non shifter) between an Omega and Alpha. Anna Wineheart has weaved a gut wrenching, heartwarming story around two flawed characters that fit together like to lost puzzle pieces.

Dale Kinney is a shamed, divorced Omega trying to live his life with the so called knowledge that he is infertile. And Greg Hastings who is a young Alpha who feels unworthy of his Alpha status because of the loss of his best friend.

The HEA that Dale and Greg get is well deserved for these two. The struggles that they had to indure were well worth the HEA. This book will have you going through so many emotions. Highly recommend. Can't wait for the next book in The Men of Meadowfall series.

I received an ARC for my honest opinion of Omega Teacher's Baby (Men of Meadowfall Book 2).

I love me a good age-gap romance, paranormal or not, so this blurb hooked me in. This non-shifter story has likable characters each with their own distinct voice, good UST, nice chemistry throughout and centres on an older omega with fertility issues. It has an interesting take on scent marking I've never come across in Omegaverse books before, but it also include a pet peeve of mine; characters smelling like plants. Hibiscus, aspen, birch, pine, lily.. and mentioned far too often for my personal liking. The story seems proofread but not professionally edited. In my opinion it is a bit long and character development arc backtracks several times. Could be nicely improved if edited to a shorter length and had fewer repetitive elements.

I'll start off with the rating 2.5 stars.

This was overall a good story. It had a decent story like and the characters were somewhat developed. Dale and Greg are two worlds apart. Greg is an alpha who comes from money, but remains thumbed underneath his father's power. Dale is a shamed omega who was divorced because of his infertility. He is a professor at the university where Greg's father is president. Greg and Dale have been dancing around the attraction for as long as either of them can remember. As an unmated omega Dale has to hide his scent and pretend to be claimed by an alpha to keep Greg away from him. When the alpha Dale uses pulls a move to make her own life happen, the one time Dale goes without a strong enough mark, the restraint between him and Greg crumbles.

So, Greg and Dale sleep together and Dale unwittingly falls pregnant. This is not exactly a fated mates story, but it is very much an insta-love/attraction. I suppose what helps is that technically it's more attraction than love that gets them in each other's pants. Dale's issues with relationships from his past experience have him on the more cautious side of being in love.

The story itself is good, but the writing leaves something to be desired. Wineheart has a LOT of dialoug and is very much lacking in her complex writing of detail. We're told a good chunk of the story. The most consistently strong part is the smut. We're told a lot of how the emotion between the two characters develops. We don't see it. I said this was an insta-attraction, and it because the push to their relationship development is shallow and is supported only by the pregnancy and them sleeping together in random increments. The baby was a circumstance of the story. I didn't feel like it was as core of the story as it should have been because the affects on Dale were very limited. You could almost forget he was supposed to be pregnant about 75% of the time.

And speaking to the characters themselves. Dale's dad was a jerk. He was also another circumstance that should have had more emphasis than it did, although I will say it got better towards the end. But Dale, he's supposed to be 42 years old. First, on the cover he doesn't look at all 40 anything, barely 30. In the story he doesn't act like it either. There's no apparent correlation between his character's personality, age and experience as there should be. Greg played his part a little bit better as the young, impulsive, alpha. While he wasn't overly obnoxious he had his annoying aspects which I chalk up to his young age as an alpha with heavy responsibility.

I think the story needs to be revised and edited for me to give it a higher rating. This was a freely given, honest ARC review.

So damn good.
Another winner from Anna Wineheart: I utterly adored this story; seeing Dale and Greg finally reach their HEA was immensely satisfying.

I'm usually not the biggest fan of teacher/student relationships, because they make me feel very uneasy, but the author managed to handle Greg and Dale's relationship perfectly.
I think it helps that, although Dale's the teacher and the older one, he's actually not in a position of power. Greg, on the other hand, he's got status and money and powerful connections, and that helped me feel much better about the somewhat unethical, unconventional affair they both decide to pursue.

Anyway, that said, I loved this to absolute bits. The story was gut-wrenching and angsty, and I spent half of the time wishing I could jump into the book to whisk Dale away from all the heartbreak and pain he goes through. I really, really felt for him. He was a fabulous lead.
Greg was his perfect match: he's got enough confidence for the both of them, and I LOVED how protective and possessive he got over both Dale and their child. It was endearing and charming and ugh, I just loved their relationship so much. Plus, I adored the steamy bits so much more in this one: it's the usual knotty omegaverse fun deliciousness, but there's also a touch of breeding kink (and a bit of public sex *winks* gotta love the forbidden relationship trope).
AND the side characters were fantastic: June was such a good friend. I loved her.

I'm so happy I decided to give this series, and this author, a chance. I'm still not sure if I'll be reading all of the novels in the Meadowfall universe, but I'll definitely be jumping into book three ASAP.

This series is set in another universe where there is no discrimination due to sexuality, men/men, women/women, men/ omen whatever configuration is accepted and both men and women can have babies. But there is another level of discrimination going on here only omegas can have babies and only alphas can give them babies. Also alphas are top of the social ladder and omegas are lower. Betas are somewhere in between and can only mate with other betas and must adopt if they want children. Anyone can aspire to any job but it takes omegas longer to get tenure or permanent status in jobs. Unmated omegas are seen as less valuable, and infertility a stigma to some and divorce is a real faux pas.
In this story the fact that our professor is an omega finds him waiting an extra 2 years to earn his tenure, he’s also divorced because he did not conceive in three years and his alpha got their marriage annulled. Then along comes his new alpha not only is he twenty years younger, reckless, but he is the college president’s son. The college president is wrapped in status and his colleges success that he finds his sons choice of omega unacceptable and of course it breaks a major rule at the college Professors cannot sleep with students. It’s a long hard road for our mates to make it to the altar. But never fear there is a happy ending.

This one was sweet, very heavy on the "oh he needs to do better than my old self", and full of love.

Dale was an older omega who had really bad self esteem. Greg was a young college person who did not think there would be a future because his best friend died in a tragic fire.

One day, while in the famous Meadowfall College, Dale goes into heat and the alpha does what all mc alphas do, he sexes up Dale and a babby was made.

The college is run by Greg's dad and is Dale's boss, so they do what all couples do, they sneak around. We all know that the sneaking around never works out. Dear old dad finds out and the older omega dumps the alpha so that he can find a better omega.

Then comes the time that they do not see each other yet yearn for the other. There was major yearing going on yall.

But the best part was that the alpha saves the omega by stopping a truck with his porsche. I am not a car person but I cannot see that little sports car stopping a truck. Maybe it could happen, but in my mind that's doubtful.

I am gonna leave this review on both 1.5 and 2 since its the same book.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved these two in Anna’s short and was excited to read a more in depth story about them. Dale is such a sweetheart except he tries to keep it hidden underneath his professional exterior. Greg knows he doesn’t want the same thing as the other alpha’s his age but his doubts make it hard for him to fully commit to a future of any kind.

I loved both of the characters, they were both broken in different ways and really needed each other to mend themselves. Their relationship gave them the opportunity to really see what is important in life and decide what they really want for the future. I love that this had a slight connection to the first book in the series but doesn’t require it to enjoy this story.

Kinks aside, and you know this book hit the spot for me, this has been a pleasant surprise. The book was well written, and I appreciate how the author craft emotion into her plot. Everything felt natural, rather force.

However, there are part of the book that I feel need some trimming. Like the rehashing of why they shouldn't be together, it's was frequent enough that I felt it was right on the line of being redundant.

Aside for this, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I especially like the the crane concept - it was sweet.

Anna Wineheart grabbed my heart again with her fabulous new book, “Omega Teacher’s Baby”, the second book in the “Men of Meadowfall” series. I love all her books; she’s a great writer. What I like was that Anna starts us out with the thrill of the forbidden romance early.

Professor Dale Kinney taught chemistry at Meadowfall College and has a huge crush on Meadowfall Lion’s star basketball player, Greg Hastings. The twenty-two year old Alpha student had his own crush on Dale. He’d asked the professor out for coffee many times with Dale always refusing.

First of all a teacher doesn’t date their students, it’s a perfect way to be fired. Plus, Greg was the first born son of his employer, the president of the college, Bernard Hastings. Greg’s father would be furious if he knew of their affair.

Dale’s forty-two so the twenty years difference in age was like a thorn in Dale’s side. Dale was the pessimist, not just about his age but other things as well where Greg was the optimist in the relationship. Be prepare for a lot of hot sex between these two men, they can get your heart rate up; plus Dale gets knocked up.

What I liked most about the storyline is it started out with Dale pregnant near the beginning, so you could get to know what a wonderful Alpha Greg is to Dale. Dale’s problem was he fought against the relationship right from the start. I love Greg’s character. Greg was the total opposite from Dale’s first Alpha he was married to. I’m not going into the whys about Dale’s divorce, it’s better to read it. But Dale never felt he deserved happiness.

Greg adored Dale, but even Greg had his own ghost that haunted his thoughts. It’s the guilt when he couldn’t save his best friend from a cabin fire while camping. The two boys were still teenagers, but the connection was deep between them. Greg’s father just brushed it off and told his son to move on. So, it’s been something Greg found hard to talk about.

Greg also to deal with his pretentious father’s demands for Greg to find an omega to bond with; but Greg already had his bondmate picked out and now his omega was pregnant; all the more Dale was his. Dale gives in after Greg’s constant upbeat feelings about them as a couple, so Greg moved in for a trail. It was the happiness time in Dale and Greg’s lives.

Both men go through heartache after Greg’s father discovers their relationship. Dale fired on the spot and Dale to Greg it was over for good even though he was pregnant he’d find another job. The separation was hurtful and full of heartache.

The writing is emotional that at some points I cried I was so caught up in the story. The hurt wasn’t one sided, both the men suffered, with Dale saying it was over Greg still couldn’t let go of his omega. Boy did my heart ached for these two men and I wondered if either one of them could ever escape their ghosts from their past relationships. It was pretty intense.

Ms.. Wineheart’s writing was beautifully romantic, even with the intense emotions. All of the characters I got to know in the book, I could picture them and I felt their anger, shock, or whatever other emotions were involved.

You won’t go wrong in reading this wonderful book by Anna Wineheart. I give her five huge stars! And I’ll tell you, I’m looking forward to any of her next books coming out. Great read and I highly recommend it.

OMG, this one got a solid 5 *'s from me, just for the feels it gave me! That ending was perfection. But can I just say that I wanted to smack some sense into Dale a few times? Arggh. Quit acting like such an omega, dude! All joking aside, this is a sizzling May/December romance. It's interesting because the older one of the pair is the omega, which gave it a whole other dimension. I adore the alpha in this. I just want to scoop him up and take him home! He's just so...earnest! I'm in love with this book, even if Dale did tick me off...many times. Worth the read ;)

I waited too long to review this. The gist is, this wasn’t my favorite at first because the romance felt lacking between the two of them in the early half because Dale was so against feelings basically. They are both kind of sad dingdongs. The ending was kind of wild.

Dale was too weak and whiney. He did not grow as a character. He quickly became tiresome.

I expected to LOVE this book, I was certain it would be my favorite. However, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. My main issue I think was I never really believed the main two actually loved each other. It seemed like Dale was feeling like he was out of time and wanted someone to take care of him. It seemed like Greg felt lost and felt like Dale needed him and that seemed like a good enough job.

Greg is a 22 year old student (with a lifetime of career and sexual experience) who is an alpha. Dale is a 42 year old professor (so basically he’ll be dead in a year or two of old age) who is an omega.

I was a bit confused by the cover. That’s not how Dale is described. Even in the next book he’s described as “The man was an omega, maybe in his forties, his long auburn hair weaved into intricate French braids. With the narrow glasses perched on his nose.”

One day I would LOVE an age gap romance where the person who bottoms is older and doesn’t have a huge complex about it and constantly need their much younger top to reassure them. Today is not that day. Dale is emotionally the youngest of the cast, even though he has a good 20+ years on most of the other characters because he’s the character that can get pregnant. Not my favorite.

However, I still just ADORE how long the individual books of this series are. I can already tell I’ll devour them. I love a fun and angsty book that’s longer (honestly my favorite is 600+ pages of goodness, but those are rare).

It’s implied that Greg is whatever the a/b/o version of bisexual is (he wanted to go with another alpha to prom and his dad disapproved), which I LOVE. I’m always in favor of queering stuff up even in a fantasy way! It’s also implied that June could have gotten Dale pregnant and I really super want a sapphic a/b/o book!

There are a few grammar/syntax errors, or just odd phrasing. There’s also quite a bit of repeating similar phrases throughout the book, sometimes only a paragraph or two apart. There’s also a LOT of recapping, even if it’s something that just happened a couple pages ago, so it feels very repetitive at times. It’s not hugely painful, but it is frequent, and I skimmed several times.

I had to lol in a kind of scandalized way when Greg’s dad and leader of the college used the school’s professors to compile a list of omegas in their classes so that Greg’s dad could choose a “superior” one and pimp them out to his son. Just oh my god. The lawsuits. But then he’s a rich cis white guy, so equal odds no one would bat an eyelash.

The book was also really harsh at times with Penny, the omega woman who Greg’s dad wanted him to marry. They called her a bitch several times when all she did was accidentally walk in on Greg and Dale fucking at school AND she kept their secret. It wasn’t a cute look for the MCs. Eventually they got over it but yikes.

I’m sad I didn’t love this as much as I expected. I had a lot of fun with the first book and this one has several tropes I usually love but didn’t so much here. I’m hoping the next book will be more enjoyable to me.

***I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book***

This is the first book that I've read in this series and I have to say it was different. The storyline is one that I haven't read before where the older man in the relationship is an omega not the alpha. The dynamics of the relationship really do change when the younger man is the alpha and also a college student and the "other" man is his professor.

Greg wants his chemistry professor while his professor wants Greg as well which is taboo. Dale Kinney is a lonely unbonded omega being pursued by Greg. He knows he shouldn't want a student like he does since he's a 42 yr old, infertile, and broken omega and his feelings terrify him. His past failures have convinced him that even if he were younger he is still unworthy. Greg is also haunted by a past failure that he can't move on from when his best friend dies tragically in a fire. Greg is the college president's son so that makes him doubly off limits but he keeps pushing Dale until he finally caves. Their first heated coupling has serious consequences for the two men. Greg wants to rush his fences where Dale wants to be invisible to everyone except his alpha. Everyday they're together they each fall more in love all though Dale still suffers the insecurities from his past. When Gregs father stumbles upon the two and their secret Dale loses his job as a professor and the two are torn apart.

The two men have any number of questions they each need to find the answers to. Is the 20 year difference in their ages really a factor to their relationship? Can Dale get past what he feels are his many failings? Can Greg let go of the past and look to a future Dale? Can these two men go out into the world as a couple regardless of the judgmental attitudes of others that they might have to face? Can the three become a true family with a bright and happy future? Read this poignant slightly unusual love story for yourself and enjoy.

This is a new to me author and I read a short story of the Omega Teacher's Baby in the "Sweet and Spicy Stories Vol 2", which contained mostly sample chapters from a number of authors. I enjoyed what I'd read and was pleased to find it was a full story. This is Book 2 in the Men of Meadowfall series and it read well as a standalone.

This is a May-December omegaverse/non-shifter mpreg story. Dale is 42, a Professor teaching Chemistry and is an omega. Having been divorced by his former Alpha for being infertile, he seems set on the path of academia. Greg is 22, son of the Principle of the University, basketball captain and Alpha, with his sights on Dale. After an explosive bonding, Dale finds he is pregnant and Greg steps up to be his Omega's Alpha, but the journey is not a smooth one....

This was a page-turner. Both characters have baggage - Greg lost his BFF in a fire and this plays heavily on his avoidance of planning for the future, but his responsibility to protect Dale is front and centre as he battles with his feelings. This is much to the annoyance of his Father who wants him to settle with an appropriate omega of good breeding and age. Dale's sudden transition from a teacher to having an unreachable dream - a child, hit me with the feels. Seriously, the yo-yo thoughts and rollercoaster emotions, especially around the age gap between him and Greg was a constant thread until a near fatal event brings it all to a head.

There was plenty of sweetness and fluff - the baby romper suits and especially the box of paper cranes just made me a pile of *goo*. I loved the age difference and the characters were well defined with their responsibilities, attitudes and outlook on life. There was plenty of knotting, marking and a couple of OMFG moments! The story ends on a strong HFN and left me with a contented *sigh* Enjoyable read.

3.5 stars rounded up. This was pretty dang good. I wasn't convinced in the beginning if Dale and Greg would be good for each other and I doubted their sincerity. But what really turned this around for me was something very small but extremely important when establishing couples in a romance novel: actually showing the scenes where the couple gets to know each other so that they can connect mentally and emotionally.

Little moments like Dale showing Greg how to make paper cranes and explaining their importance can really give the couple a firm foundation in the story. If those little moments aren't there in a romance book, I'm usually left wondering how genuine the characters really are in their affections for one another because I wasn't given the chance to see their foundation being laid out. A lot of authors tend to tell the audience about these moments after the fact rather than show those moments as they happen. So it was very refreshing to finally have a romance where the author showed me how they fell for each other rather than just telling me about it.

I will say, though, that this book is pretty damn similar to another in this series called "Omega Teacher's Secret", (which I actually read before this one) in that the omega is a teacher and the alpha is a student/ the son of the omega's boss at the college. Also, the omega works in the chemistry department, so June is once again involved in helping him with her scent. And the alpha here also has a loss in his past that he blames on himself--- also involving fire! Despite those factors, both books are pretty good on their own, but I would HIGHLY recommend that you space out the readings by at least a few months so that you can properly enjoy the stories for themselves. If you read them too close together, you might not be able to separate them in your head enough to appreciate them.

This book was alright. I liked that Dale was a bit insecure and that Greg was too. They weren't really a typical alpha/omega pairing and I enjoyed the different dynamics that were brought out in this story. Greg has a lot of growing up to do, that's for sure, but he is only 22 so I'm okay with his immaturity. To a point. Him stepping up to be with Dale is the best part of him and I really love that he's willing despite being scared and unprepared for what life with a baby means.

Dale is vulnerable because of his age, his past, his insecurities, and because of how much of the consequences he will face because of his position and everything that he is. When things blow up in their faces I ache for Dale because of just how high the cost is on his end. I don't know that I enjoy where he's forced to go with his career. I also don't see his confidence fully restored by the end but there is definite progress so I'm glad that Greg could help to build him up after Charles brought him so low.

It seems like there is a whole world of information about alphas and omegas and their hierarchy that I'm just supposed to know about even though it's only vaguely explained. The story could also have been condensed quite a bit. It felt like the halfway mark would never arrive, it dragged really badly. Once things picked up it was one bad thing after another and a lot of heartache before the conclusion came. The car vs. truck thing felt really out of place and I felt like something else should have been used as a carrier for the announcement and reunion. Other than that, the story had some good points with the characters actually feeling like they should be together despite what was against them. 2.5 stars.
