This is book 5 in the series although you can read them separately, reading in order puts things in perspective. This is a story of two people who don't want to give up their lives to just fit in, but to work together as partners.
Livvie and Lonnie are two likeable people who have a lot to work out. Livvie is making good on that, learning to think and plan ahead. Lonnie has a ways to go. I haven't read much about bull riding, but didn't realize how the sport had evolved and the dangers of TBI. Livvie's parents are a bit better than Lonnie's, but I would have loved a final scene with them admitting that her investment was not an impulsive crazy decision. I really admire Livvie for going after what she wants.
This is book five in the series, but the author has written each book as a stand-alone, which is the way it should be. I didn't feel at all lost and those who have read the previous books will enjoy seeing those characters again.
Such a beautiful story about love, danger and caring for others. It was so touching when Livvy took in some abandoned kittens and then when one of them had a kidney problem, I was on edge for the kitten to pull through. Also, the danger of Lonnie's bull riding - when Paulo died, it was easy to see how high a risk of severe injury and death rodeo has. It stressed the hell out of Livvy but things worked out beautifully for them.
This book starts like any other rodeo book, but that’s where the semblance ends. It’s boy meets girl, girl doesn’t want boy.etc. It’s all the rest that makes this a good book. You wonder how it will end, then surprised at how it does. All in all,a good read and I hope you’ll enjoy it.
