It's the first Naughty Little Book and is a standalone with all the steam and feels you're looking for, along with an emotional HEA.
After 26 years in Corporate leadership at a Fortune 500, I discovered people within the organization lacked integrity. I’d always known deep in my soul that I was trying to fit a square peg in to a round hole since I’m the typical creative type. I miss my staff but I don’t miss the corporate world. It’s been said that the Universe will let you know if something isn’t right for you. The first time, it will hit you with a pebble. Then a brick. Then a boulder. Let’s just say that I got flattened. When my fifteen pound toy dog, Nigel, was threatened, I knew it was time to say goodbye. It’s true. Here’s what I found within the first thirty days of being free. Writing stories from my heart that readers love means more to me than working myself in to an early grave for people who only care about their bottom line. My heart has never been more full and my soul has never been more satisfied. I’ve never worked so hard in my life but it doesn’t even feel like work. It’s worth it. All of it. Because it’s about the joy that’s found within the journey. The highs and the lows because I get to write stories for all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, enjoying and recommending the stories that I write. When you share my work with others, nothing is more rewarding. Your word of mouth is my very best friend … that, and your reviews. There is nothing more important to me than all of you. I love to hear from my readers and answer all communications personally. Dove is trying to finish up her degree and she needs a sample to finish up. She goes into the woods and before she knows it she has crossed onto private property. She tries to be quick but she hears a weird noise that scares her and she ends up falling over and getting hurt. Gray is used to the solitude but when his dog goes crazy while heir out he goes and finds a woman on the ground. He checks on her and she wakes up. She is startle by his size and asks if his Paul Bunyan. Gray is upset to find her on his land without permission but things change and once they are back at his place he learns why she's there. Things heat up between them when they realize she's stranded because of the weather. Will Gray claim Dove as his? What will happen once she has to leave?
This is an amazing story that will draw you in from the first chapter and leave you wanting more with the last. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Gray lives off the land, as did his father and the father before him. He rejects technology, preferring to live with his hound dog, Hank, and to inhale the beauty of the forest. Dove is finishing her doctorate in botany, studying the aspens of Northern Minnesota and their effect on the forest ecosystem. Thinking to herself as she walks out the door toward the northland, how exciting it will be to study a particular tree in the forest. She has no idea what awaits her as she nears Shadow Falls. Chopped is the perfect title for this book since Gray spends his days chopping wood in order to live comfortably and Dove is devastated by the chopping of the forests and the aspens that she so carefully researches. Dove and Gray come to understand, as they spend time together, trapped in the storm, some things have another way of presenting a possibility for them! The pace is perfect and the ending is nicely done. Another winner for Colleen Charles!
Dove is a botanist pursuing her doctorate. Gray is a lumberjack who lives in isolation, weary of heartache. One day she wanders unto his private property while looking for an illusive tree specimen. She is injured and rescued this giant specimen of a man. Will this chance meeting lead to them taking a chance at love with each other? I love Gray’s vulnerability. Both main characters feel that they are unwanted. But in each other they see only the best. Can this mountain man and city girl find a compromise that suits them both? This is a wonderful, romantic story that is emotional, witty and funny. The intimacy is sincere and progresses steadily to a satisfying ending. Kudos to them both for going after what they want! 5 stars I purchased a copy of the steamy novella Chopped (Taboo Tales Book 1) by Colleen Charles and this review was given freely. A story of longing for love, family, and of living a simplistic life. Easy flowing with vivid descriptions, this novella is the perfect blend of sweet caring and steamy passion. Mountain man Gray enjoys living the solitary life of the pioneers on his family land unfettered by technology until heiress and graduate botany student Dove stumbles onto his land looking for the elusive Minnesota Dark Aspen to finish her doctorate degree at the College of Northern Minnesota.
Gray is a rugged, reclusive man who lives off his land, and who wants nothing to do with society. Dove is a quiet, nerdy botanist trying to finish her doctorate degree. They meet when she trespasses onto his property and falls and he helps her. What Gray didn't anticipate was falling for her... Unfortunately, she lives in the city and he's not ready to give up his reclusiveness! A great read to see how they work it out!
I loved Chopped! Dove is a bookish doctorate student hunting for rare leaves when she stumbles upon her very own "Grayzzly Adams." He's a mammoth of a man, hot AF, and the woman of his dreams has just intruded onto his land. The flames burn bright between these two, but can they find a way to make it work? This sexy book was steamy and so highly entertaining! I think this might just be my favorite book from this author!
Loved Dove and Gray. Nerdy Botatnist meets Quiet mountain man. Dove is finishing her PhD and is looking for a particular tree. She ends up trespassing onto Gray’s territory. She gets injured and Gray rescues her. They form an instant attraction. She gets stuck there due to bad weather and she falls for him. She eventually leaves. Gray decides he wants her back and gets her. It was a cute story with the right amount of steam. Can’t wait to read the next one.
He is off the grid, totally self sufficient living on the land his ancestors owned. Dove ready to graduate with her Doctorate in biology, except she needs the leaf of a dark Aspen. Which is on private property. Good story, first in a series of what the author terms taboo. I'm not sure what was taboo in this story, but was a good start to the series. I read this through the KU program.
A well written and enjoyable easy read. The book is about Gray & Dove who are opposites in every way and a chance meeting after Dove injures herself whilst trespassing on Gray’s land trying to find an Aspen leaf which is needed for her final paper to become a doctor and botanist.
Their lives are very different but can their attraction and the chemistry be enough bring them together?
I am a huge fan of Colleen Charles and can’t recommend her books enough.
She's looking for a rare tree to finish her thesis and it's on his property. Instant attractiona on both ,but neither thinks the other is interested.a bad storm comes she has to stay a few days. He's a real mountain man with not alot of luxuries. She leaves,he talks to his sister and he goes to her graduation and told her about what he had done to compromise if them being together.
I absolutely loved this story! It was fantastic! I loved Gray and Dove! They were made for each other. Dove was just what Gray needed. She had him opening up to a few changes. Chopped was a well written story with amazing characters! It was a sweet, hot, steamy love story that I loved! I can’t wait for the next book from Colleen!
I loved reading about his botanical PhD student who inadvertently trespasses onto the private property of a man that like to live in seclusion. She falls and before he can get her back to the safety of his cabin a powerful storm erupts. The storm washes out the road so she has no way back to town which is 20 miles away.
I thought that this taboo treat was absolutely delicious. The story line is entertaining, intense and over-the-top in the best way possible. I loved Dove and Gray. Both characters were immensely likable and as a couple they were easy to root for. Hot Lumberjack + Smart Nerdy Girl = one steamy, swoon worthy romance!!! By my own volition I am posting a sincere review.
For a very short book this one had remarkably solid character development and chemistry. Of course it’s the ‘we’re stuck here together’ and there was a little insta lust and then love, but again, it was short and a romance so what other choice was there? I’m going to look into more of this author’s books.
This is a interesting story. Grey is a mountain man that lives off the land. he finds dove on his property and wants to make her his. When they find out they have a lot in common? what will end up happening between them?

Amazing short story, steamy and brilliant, dove and gray’s love story couldn’t be better written, lumberjack and a geek who not only stole each other’s hearts but mine too, fantastic first book for the series, can’t wait to read the next book
I love this book! I love the forest Colleen created. I so enjoyed Grey as my lumberjack book boyfriend. Dove was the perfect woman for Grey. I experienced this story with them and enjoyed every part. You should enjoy this wonderful story!
Loved this book! I really do think that this is the best book Ms Charles has written so far. But all of her books are excellent! The relationship between Gray and Dove unfolds so perfectly as they get to know each other better. Totally recommend!
A great book by Colleen yet again. Love love the chemistry between Grey and Dove. A story with ups and downs. Love is never easy and love at first sight when you have resigned yourself that it's never going to happen . There is always a bump in the road
Gray and Dove are such amazing characters! I loved every moment of the book and wished it had been longer. I especially appreciate when authors write strong intelligent women with an interest in sciences. Well done yet again Ms. Charles!
A fascinating and excellent tale that I enjoyed reading. Dove and Gray experience may emotions, lots of action and plenty of hot chemistry. This tale is well written and I highly recommend it as well worth buying to read.
I'm not normally into books like this. The alpha male being out doorsey and all that but this book totally surprised me. I enjoyed the characters and the story. The chemistry between characters was good and the narration was on point, bringing the author's story to life.
I really enjoyed this book, Gray is such a great character! I found the story to be refreshing and the romance to be sizzling hot! Looking forward to more of this series!
I loved the characters and the story line in this book. It was very short since it was a novella. However, it packed a huge punch 👊in a small amount of pages.
