Every shifter needs a mate, but spirit shifters need four.

Raised by human traffickers, I learned from an early age that the one person I can trust is myself. Rescued and brought to Thornbriar Academy, I've only traded one kind of imprisonment for another.

When a scorching hot jaguar shifter and a scandalously hunky water shifter take me in, I start to believe I've found a home and a pack. Until I discover a devastating secret that just might get me- and them- killed.

Found is the first book in this reverse harem paranormal romance series. Expect a tough as nails innocent, bullies, shifters, and love in this new adult romance.

Read other books by this author in the future: yes

This is a quite short book. It was an entertaining, fast read and I enjoyed it. So I rated it 3.5 because it is more than an okay 3 stars book but did not get me hooked like a 4 star book normally does.
Again the FMC is raised under weird conditions. She was kidnaped and raised by people who steal kids for human trafficking. But she is rescued and put into a school, where she learns all about the shifter world and makes friends the first time. Hailey struggling through this new world is entertaining. And there is bound to be drama.
I am finishing this review and start reading the next part! ;)

One con in the afterword

The afterword said “ can Hailey give up her precious freedom for love?”. That made me sick- can’t she have both? Can’t she be free? She’s been literally held for her whole life, please please please give the girl a life! I’m really hating the theme of 1 month from trapped to love with possible mates for eternity with no “freedom”. No life experiences like our main character has been dreaming about during her dark captivity. Let her dance, travel, experience the sea, the world. Tying her down again but making her happy about it because “love” is a cheap ploy and a horrible plot. She can have both, so write like it. The foreshadowing of happy domestic bliss as if it’s the only thing a girl could possibly want and freedom dreams out the window is depressing and has played out in really life for generations. Write better, please break out of this trope.

Found was SO much beter than I was expecting. That's not to say I started this off thinking I'd hate the book. I just like to go into everything assuming it may be .. okay at best... so my expectations aren't crushed, haha. Found is a novella-length paranormal / shifter, fated mates, reverse harem romance. There's SOME spicy scenes, but not enough.

Our FMC Hailey is a victim of human trafficking. She has been stuck at a "girl's school" called Hastings for a good portion of her life. Her treatment there was horrible to say the least. She was not treated nicely, she had no love or anything to look forward to either. She was eventually "recruited" by a man named Mr. Reed who told her about Thornbriar Academy and took her there. Hailey initially thought this was just another place holding her hostage literally.
Hailey has always been a little different ... she's had dreams about "being" different creatures such as mermaids, wolves, etc. And she's always felt different. Mr. Reed educates her about shifters, and that SHE is a shifter as well.
At Thornbriar, she meets her soon-t0-be harem of men. The harem all knows each other and consider themselves a "pack." All of the men are different types of shifters, and they all have some sort of feelings for Hailey, but most of them are in denial as their "brother" Talon has staked claim to Hailey immediately.

The men are all unique. The character development in this book is amazing, especially considering how short the book is in length! This is definitely a VERY slow-burn book, and at times, Hailey drove me nuts. She is so quick to push everyone away due to her trauma, which makes perfect sense, but still. These men are dying to love her and protect her, and she's ....refusing it all.

She loses her "v card" to one of the pack brothers.... not the one that has "claimed her" either... but rather to the well-known "womanizer." She chose it, but I still hated that for her.

There's a big secret that Hailey is hiding about herself, even from the men... and she's worried that she will be a danger to them.
Found ends on a cliffhanger of sorts. And i've ALREADY started Bound.

Wasn’t my cup of tea.

It wasn’t that the characters lacked interesting histories, but they were so meh. I didn’t really like any of the characters and the instant attraction and mate bonds really didn’t take long to come up. I was more interested in the fleeting mentions of the other spirit shifter who was after Hailey.

Thornbriar Academy is an interesting location, but so far it has been pretty bland and there has been no action, just jealous girl crap.

If you are looking for a different take on shifters, this is the book for you. I loved what Cali has done with the spirit shifters, and her take on the shifter world.

The female lead Hailey has not had an easy life, being kidnapped as a kid. Raised cruely by human traffickers, Hailey has always had something extra. More strength, healing, and in her dreams is where she knows she is different. Who dreams about being a mermaid? Who dreams of wolves? One day approaching her 18th bday, she has learned that she is to be sold. After all being 18 and a virgin will fetch a high price. Rescued in the nick of time, she begins a journey of discovery on who and what she is.

I just really enjoyed Found. Hailey is a tough character that does what she can to survive. She has so much to learn about herself and what she is. Terrin, Adrian, and Sciro are a perfect match for her. They are different in their own ways, not to mention different supernaturals. The guys have a kind of possessiveness that I love to see in my male leads. But they do have a ways to go. Overall this is a great first look into the Thornbriar Academy series and I honestly cannot wait to see what Bound brings.

My Thoughts:
Short and sweet read.

There isn't much of a plot. Just an introduction to this world and the main characters and a big cliffhanger ending. However, it does have great story telling quality, now am hooked! The thing is, reverse harem is not my genre. But I was already halfway through this book before I realised that it is a reverse harem! And then again, I am kind of partial towards cat shifters and Terrin is a jaguar shifter... That speaks of the character development that is solid! Speaking of which... The good news is, the heroine is not too stupid to live. The bad news is, at 177 pages long (print ed.), the book is too freaking short!

Empirical Evaluation:
Story telling quality = 4.5
Character development = 4
Story itself = 4
Writing Style = 4.5
Ending = 3
World building = 5
Cover art = 3
Pace = 4.5
Plot = 1.5

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5

I loved this book! It had many twists and turns that kept me up reading LATE into the night. While the book foreshadowed certain events to come, they were still shocking and exciting to come upon! I can't wait to get the next book!

I received this book as an advanced reader, and I'm leaving an honest review in return. I truly enjoyed reading this story by Ms. Mann. Her ability to introduce the reader to Hailey's history, The Thornbriar Academy, and Hailey's love interests is beautifully woven into the story. I can see many potential plots for the future. I love the different personalities between her love interests as well. I can't wait to see how their relationships continue to grow. My only criticism is that I feel like the story could have been longer. There were a couple of areas that I felt could have been more detailed. Beyond that, Found was an Excellent read, and I am very excited to see what works Ms. Mann comes out with in the future, especially with this series.

This was such a captivating book with a new take on shifters! The backgrounds for each character were very interesting and really gave the reader insight as to why they act or behave a certain way. Each of the guys was different and broken in his own way. Hailey is also a strong main character that is battling her past. I love how she doesn't want to be caged in and just wants to enjoy the freedom that she has never experienced before. Over the years she has learned to trust only herself, but it is getting harder to do so when Terrin, Sciro, and Adrian treat her so well (when they aren't fighting their feelings and trying to ignore her). Brenton is a whole other situation, but I have a feeling he is going to come around pretty quickly. I'm excited to see how things evolve in the next book!

Loveeee

New twist on shifters. I really loved this book. The main character Hailey is a badass but a little broken. Shes trying to find her way after being released from a hell hole of a situation. This is definitely an interesting twist on shifters. I really loved reading something a little different. I would say this is probably medium burn. Loveee the boys and their on again off again possessiveness. I really liked how the relationships developed throughout the book. The author really paints a good picture of each character and their background. Multiple POVs definitely helps. Overall I would definitely recommend this book!!!

I absolutely loved this book! I love how the author gave us a look into Hailey’s background, it really helps the reader understand why she does what she does throughout the book. I found this take on shifters to be really captivating. It isnt like any other book I have read and I loved that! I also enjoyed getting to know the guys that she met along the way. Each of them is so different but loyal to each other. Overall I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book! I would definitely recommend this book!

Hailey is a fierce character that you will love. Her will to fight and survive a difficult upbringing will give you a roller-coaster of emotions. I really liked the characters and the types of shifters. After reading found, you'll have so many questions that you'll be wanting answered. I fell in love with the academy style that cali created and I'm so excited for book 2. The scenes were interesting, intriguing and hot. The emotions were there to keep you invested into the story and you will not be disappointed with this read. Loved it. Well done Cali!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was engaging, entertaining, and just a plain good read. This is Cali Mann's first book, and I thought it was a great effort, she has a thorough grasp on her subject, and her world building is great. It will be very interesting to see how she blossoms in her writing in the future, as she grows, you will see her books and the scope of her writing blossom too. This was an entertaining book, was it perfect? No. There are no perfect books, but I really cannot wait to read more.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

So, this is my first book from this author and it did not disappoint! I had no idea what to expect and I was blown away. The story is really interesting and imaginative. I love Hailey, she is really brave. I am wondering if there is more to Noah Reed and who is Kaiden. I am on team #whychoose right now and I am eagerly awaiting for the next book.

I received a free ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review. This book was pretty dang good, my only complaint is that it was too short and I wanted more! Hailey, coming from a twisted past, is a pretty bad a** main character! I can’t wait to see where the next book takes her!

Found

I really enjoyed this book. There wasn't excessive world building but enough that you had an idea of what was happening. I really liked that there wasn't insta-love even though it was a pretty fast burn. The fmc doesn't just go along with being in a relationship and you can see the turmoil around the building relationships between the fmc and her men. I did receive a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review

I loved this book. Hailey is awesome. She's been held down her whole life and she's not taking anything off anyone. Her life, her choices from here on out. But she's got a problem....She's a spirit shifter, and those never are allowed to live. And now she's mated to 2 men. There's bound to be nothing but trouble from here on.

Fantastic story and plot build. Love the characters

I’m curious

Alright, while this is an academy reverse Harem, and certainly fit the parameters of it, it was still more entertaining as some I’ve read recently. A bit fast in places, and jumps in plot and time got to me, not to mention the brewing emotions amongst the guys that feels like it lacks a foundation.... but it was still a decent read. And since it’s on KU, I’ll be following it.

First person, multiple POV, Cliffhanger, NA, medium burn RH
MMMMF(m?)
Character age range 18+
Rating = R (sexual content towards end)

Pros:
- I enjoyed the combination of elements with shifters.
- The Academy seems interesting.
- In intrigued as to how the guys will navigate their feelings.
- Brenton.... He’s my favorite, and the only one who didn’t get a POV (sadly)

Cons:
- Info dumps.
- Time skips.
- Characters are immature, due to age or flaws is unknown.
- Details are given without explanation or understanding.
- Too Fast at times.

A good fast paced read! You'll enjoy it.

The book has a rich world of characters. You'll fall in love with them the m oi re you read.

Hailey's dream is freedom. She was kidnapped as a young child and held in captivity for years. Change scene to the academy, where she is not permitted to leave the grounds. Again, she feels a lack of freedom and tries to escape. However, life is always complex and plans can go awry. She starts to care for more than one guy on campus. On top of that she's holding a secret, one that her first prison called her a freak for being, but the academy may just kill her.

I chose to take off a star because in the midst of her freedom, you'd think she'd ask or think to ask to help for those left at the house and sex traffic ring.

Fast paced

This is a fast paced book and almost too short. It kept my attention and I could have read it all in one day if I had started earlier.
It’s about a girl whose been locked up for most of her life. When she gets out of one prison, she feels like she’s been put into another. The second one is an academy for shifters who are going to be turning for the first time and learning how to control themselves from hurting anybody.
She’s learning who she is and finding friends who just so happen to be all guys. What’s keeping my attention is how she’s going to handle her shifter and will people want her dead once they find out what kind of shifter she is? And has she doomed her new friends/mates.

Good start

Hailey is unique and strong. She is wanting true connection and freedom after 10 years of being a captive. There are a lot of secrets though and it just might get her killed. I think she will have 4 mates.... the three friends and her lab partner. One for each shift. The guys are kind of immature and do things to hurt her but I guess they are all broken in different ways.

OMG Hailey is so great I loved her character alot. she hasn't had a great life but things seem to be turning around when she goes to Thornbriar Academy although not in the way she would have thought. Terrin a Earth Jaguar shifter, Adrian a water shifter , and Sciro a Vampire air shifter are a great set of men for her. So different but still perfect all the same. I can't wait for book 2 I wonder why I Kaiden is though and am curious about Brenton also.

Fierce and Vulnerable Hailey

I love supernatural academy stories and this did not disappoint. It has mystery, love, and shifters, along with baddies. Also other paranormal type creatures.
