In My Heart From Inside we meet Cameron and Andy, a happy married couple who has everything, except a baby. Because they can’t get pregnant they decide to have a in vitro fertilization. When the baby is born they find out that because of a mistake at the clinic, they had the baby from another couple, Avery and Graham.
I won’t tell more, no spoilers here. But you can imagine how emotional this story is, I don’t have kids of my own and even like that I could relate to these characters, they’re so well written, the story is so good that I couldn’t put it down. This author is amazing, her writing style, the plot and the characters make this book unique and amazing.
If you don’t know @aviva_writes, check her profile. I’ve recently reviewed her other book, and both had the same effect on me: I couldn’t put them down, even though they’re completely different stories.

Before we talk about the book I want to tell you how I found out about it.
Me and the author (Aviva) met on Instagram, of course we were talking about books and, she asked me if I was interested to get a free copy of her book as an advanced copy. Of course I was trilled and I said yes right away.
My only mistake was to start reading at work during my lunch break. I couldn't put it down. I'm not a mother myself so I probably can't relate that much but I do have a godson which I love very much and if I think about how much I love him I feel I can relate just a little to the love that this two women feel. Cameron and Every find out about them not being the biological mother in different ways and it's really interesting to see both reactions. This is not a good guy bad guy situation. Some part of you would love for both of them to get what they want but you know it's not possible. The characters are so well written and so relatable that you wish you could enter the book and give them a hug . What happened to baby Amelia was heartbreaking.
This book was definitely a page turner and it kind of left me with an emptiness that only a good one does. To Aviva: have you tought about a second book?
I give this book a 10, will definitely read something else from the same author.

My Heart From Inside is the second novel by Aviva Gat. The book revolves around two couples who undergo the treatment of IVF but end up gestating their non-biological child. The story has three narratives, one of Cameron, another of Avery and the third narrative is of Sydney, the woman who unknowingly exchanged the embryo of the prior two women. Aviva takes you deep inside the life of each family and its members. The IVF process is explained in great detail. But for me, the highlights were the courtroom scenes, where both the Plaintiffs and the defendant's side make thought-provoking statements. And you end up asking this question to yourself. What makes you a mother? Is it your egg, a genetic link, or keeping it in your womb for the gestation time or in cases of adoption, giving a child a safe and happy home. A beautiful book coming from a very personal space engulfs you in its beautiful layer. A must pick for anyone who loves a great story.

I received a free digital ARC of this book from the author for review.

This story is vastly different from Gat's family story, but equally enticing. From the first page, you are drawn in. It took me no time at all to devour. Additionally, this story is absolutely heartwrenching! Tears welled up many times while reading.

Sometimes things felt a little rushed in plot, but suspense was well built. I definitely sympathized with the secondary family more so, Avery and Graham, not Cameron and Andy. It seemed horrible what C & A were doing. It felt so wrong, especially in how they cared so little for Baby X once learning she wasn't theirs. It baffles me that they wouldn't keep in touch. It also baffles me that Cameron couldn't communicate well with Andy, who was renowned for his patience and kindness.

For me, the use of varying perspectives was good storytelling, as it pertained to the two main women, but not to Sydney. Sydney was extraneous and unnecessary for the story. It felt like she wasn't a fully developed character, but took up too much page space. Her entire storyline, outside of the one mention of her flustering during the second implantation, was completely unnecessary.

I would have liked the trial to have been more inclusive of evidence. It felt like it was very rushed in its delivery. The build-up of the opening statements seemed to fizzle in the few witness testimonies. I think more could have been written about the trial and perhaps jurors perspectives could have been more intriguing than Sydney's.

Overall, this book was enjoyable to read, but could perhaps use a little more editing. The suspense was amazingly woven into the story and emotions were shown in depth. Looking forward to another book by Gat!

We join Cameron and Andy Stevens as they go through IVF to conceive a much longed for baby.
But when their daughter is born, her record shows she has a different blood type to them, making it impossible that she is theirs.
They only want one thing - to find out who has their baby and switch them back.
.
We also follow the story of Avery and Graham Stephens who, after having two boys, have been unsuccessfully trying for another baby for several years and turn to IVF.
Five weeks after having their daughter, Amelia, they receive a phone call from their fertility clinic, calling them in for DNA tests.
The tests reveal they are a 0% match to their daughter, but a 99% match to the other baby implanted the same day.
But they want to keep Amelia, regardless of her genetics.
.
The story is set with chapters alternating between each couple from the beginning of the IVF process onwards, and also from a point of view of one of the mothers in present time.
.
A beautiful and heartbreaking book, written with so much feeling, detailing the IVF procedures, how the mistake happened in the clinic and the court battle that follows.
.
Will the jury decide that the babies should be with their genetic parents, or the ones who birthed them and at what price can the families hope for happiness?
.
I loved this book and wanted to know, right from the start, how it was going to end and couldn't wait to see how they came to their conclusion.

Had a bit of insomnia so I downloaded the kindle version of this book around 2am. Around 6:30 the sun rose to meet the tears streaming down my face as I finished it. I laughed I cried. I mostly cried. As a mother my heart shattered. I felt the hurt of both Mother’s in this story and find myself questioning what I would in this situation. The twists and turns in this story made it a page turner while the pain and decisions the families face tug at your heart. I look forward to future books from this incredibly talented author. 5/5 stars.

Beautifully written novel!
Loved this book! this book really sucked me in right the beginning. I got so immersed in the story, I kept thinking about what I would do if I were one of the characters. I really liked the writing, the way the author describes things really helps you picture it in your head. The ending was also a huge surprise, and I usually don't get surprised by endings. I highly recommend this book and I will read everything this author writes

What I Loved: The way this book made me think I knew what I would do, then change my mind, and re-think, and re-think again. I was torn between two perspectives and I agreed with both of them.
How I Felt: I felt such sadness for each of the families. Their situations were unthinkable, yet understandable, keeping me up at night trying to find out what happened. Finishing the last page of this book, I felt such a love for this book. The author was able to write this story with such a realistic view, I felt like I was right there with each family.
To Read or Not To Read: A definite must-read. It's a thought-provoking book, which had me having dinner conversations over what I would do!

The story takes us through the IVF (in vitro fertilization) process for two women, Cameron and Avery. We follow their elation and joy at finding out they are pregnant, their struggles with morning sickness and tired bodies while pregnant, and their birth stories. Then, the unthinkable happens, Cameron and her husband Andy, realize their daughter has a blood type that does not match theirs. This baby is not their genetic child. Tests confirm Cameron has carried Avery's genetic baby, while Avery carried Cameron's.
What now? What would you do? I kept asking myself these questions throughout the entire book. Avery and her husband had their baby a few weeks early and have started to bond with their child, while Cameron and Andy discover the problem soon after birth, choosing to keep the baby at a distance until they can switch babies. This turns out to be harder than Cameron and Andy would have thought, as Avery and Graham would like to keep the baby they have.
This book takes you on a roller coaster of emotions and keeps you wondering what will happen next. It is a book that I recommend to everyone!

After several failed attempts to conceive a child, Cameron and Andy turn to in vitro fertilization, and Cameron, finally, gets pregnant. They can’t wait to welcome their first newborn, but when their baby daughter is born, it turns out she has a different blood type and is not genetically related to Cameron and Andy. An awful mistake was made in the clinic, and another couple, who went through IVF and also became newly parents, has a child who genetically belongs to Cameron and Andy. When the mix up is discovered, a heated court battle ensues.
.
When Aviva Gat kindly offered me to read her new novel, I had no idea what it is about, but the minute I saw the cover, I instantly realized it’s about motherhood. I don’t have any children yet and have only general idea about what it is like to be a mother, that, of course, can’t be compared to real experience and emotions of women who have become moms. So I was almost sure I wouldn’t be interested in the book and most likely wouldn’t enjoy it, but, luckily, I was mistaken.
.
The story gripped me from the first pages, and though, as I said, I’ve never been pregnant, I could feel Cameron and Avery's joy and excitement about their pregnancies, and their anxiety when the tragic mistake was revealed. I think this is the first time when my heart beat so fast while reading a book, and when I sympathized characters so strongly. I had no idea what to expect next, and I admired greatly the way Gat finished her book. It was a really good and logical ending.
.
My Heart from Inside is one of the best books I’ve read this year, and I know it’ll stay in my memory for a very long time.

This is the authors second book, having read the first book, I jumped at the chance of reading her second novel.

This book is so beautifully written. I was completely hooked right from the start. I loved the story and really felt for both women. My heart was completely torn for Cameron and for Avery, what a difficult situation to be in. It really pulled on my heart strings in certain parts of the story. You could really feel the characters pain and sadness in their situation. I felt for both mothers, Cameron for wanting the baby that was genetically hers but Avery for not wanting to give up the baby she had just given birth to. What would you do in that situation? I just felt for both women and couldn't even imagine what it would be like to go through a situation like this.

Such an emotional read but an amazing book. The ending made me cry and couldn't believe what happens at the end, if the difficulty and pain of conceiving a child, finding out that genetically the baby you've carried isn't yours, what else could happen to one mother? I won't write any spoilers but I highly recommend, I just didn't want to finish the book and read the extra chapter off the authors website. I can't wait to see what Aviva writes next!
*Please note I was gifted this book to read and write a review*

I had the privilege to read Aviva Gat’s debut novel “My Family’s Struggle” so when this book came my way I automatically said yes.

Aviva has a way of writing that totally immerses you into the story. The characters are fully developed and all details are pointed out. You feel like you know these characters on a personal level. Saying that it makes it very difficult to choose a side- you empathise with both couples and even until the end you are in limbo.

The story is not a normal one for me, but it is a fantastic story nonetheless. It is a tale of two couples that are struggling to get pregnant. They both opt for IVF and they go to the same doctor. Along the line there is a terrible accident and it changes both couples lives forever. (I’m not saying anymore bc I hate spoilers!)

This is a work of fiction but it is a real issue for so many. It’s an interesting look into the world and gives great insight into what goes on for couples going through IVF. It does bring up issues that make you wonder “what if” and “is it possible”.

This was a smooth read for me, there were a few squirmy bits in the hospital (but I can’t handle anything medical!) There are some twists and turns that make you think one thing but turn out completely different.

There is heartbreak but silver linings as well. All in all a great read and I am so happy to have been a part of it!

From the book, "No one else ever knew the strength of my love for you. After all you're the only one who knows the sound of my heart from the inside."

What a heart-wrenching story!

Two couples undergoing IVF have their embryos switched due to negligence on the day of implantation. What follows is an intense court battle over the babies. It leaves you asking yourself questions. What would you do if you were one of these couples? Is your child the one you are genetically related to or the one you carried for nine months?

Both of the couples in the story have unexplained infertility and the author, with her own experience, did a good job showcasing the feelings of the women as they go through the process. I was very interested in the legal battle and the strategies of both sides. The courtroom scenes were intense. I read this book in one sitting wanting to know the jury's verdict, but even more, wanting to know how the families would cope with the verdict. The epilogue gave good closure to the story as I was having a hard time connecting with several of the characters. If you want a heartfelt read, I recommend this book! Thank you to the author for an e copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second book I’ve read written by Aviva Gat. I’m writing this a couple of days after I finished reading the book, because I had to let it all sink before I could form an opinion about it. But I’m still undecided. My Heart From The Inside is a total different book than the author’s debut, My Family’s Survival.

It’s a book about two women getting pregnant through IVF. The clinic messed up though and they transferred the Stevens’ embryo into mama Stephens’ uterus and the other way around. What followed was a case in court with one couple wanting to keep the baby they’ve carried for nine months and have bonded with in the first few weeks versus a couple wanting to raise their own biological child.

This book skips a lot in time, but it’s not messy. When reading the chapters about Avery, I totally admired her for her big heart. When reading the chapters about Cameron I totally rooted for her (as I tend to see things black and white). The chapters in the current time had me anxious. I was afraid it would end up a certain way, but the book had me pleasantly surprised! Another thing I really, really loved, was the extra chapter on the website. It gave me closure. It gave me a satisfying feeling having read this book. I definitely recommend this book!

Andy and Cameron have a perfect life except for one thing - they want a baby more than anything. Unable to conceive, they use IVF, she has an easy pregnancy, and now they have a perfect daughter. Except that this is not their genetic child. A mix-up at the IVF clinic occurred, and another couple has their daughter. Avery and Graham had a rocky start to their marriage, but they've survived and have a great life except for one thing - Avery would really like to have a daughter. After a rocky pregnancy and a tough early delivery, they have a beautiful baby girl. And she's not their genetic child. Andy and Cam sue to get their daughter back. I boohooed when the verdict came back (no spoiler here), tears of joy for one couple, of pain for the other. This was an amazing book that grabbed me from the beginning. The portraits of the two couple were incredible - both very different but both desperately wanting a child.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

In this compelling story we have two couples who have used IVF to get pregnant. Due to a clinical error the embryos were switched at implantation and each woman brought to term the others baby. What would you do in this situation? Would you want your genetically correct child or the one who spent nine months in your womb learning your heart from the inside? This beautifully written novel explores this dilemma in vivid detail as the courtroom drama plays out. At times heart-wrenching and at others heart-warming the author uses her life experiences to infuse a truth to the storytelling making it wholly believable. With a few twists and turns and suspense galore, this fast paced novel is sure to draw you in and not let up until it's satisfying conclusion. I read this in one setting but am sure it will linger in my thoughts for some time. I highly recommend this thoughtfully told story.

Thanks to the author for sending me a copy to read, review and enjoy.

I really loved Aviva´s first book - My Familly´s Survival (holocaust topic) but I wasn´t  sure about the new one - it has completely different topic. Why I was hesitating? It´s great! I enjoyed reading even if it made me cry. What a story! There should be warning for mothers ...

Cameron and Andy went through IVF for their first baby, Avery and Graham for their third. The first couple found out that the blood type of their daughter couldn´t match theirs and inquired switching babies. Sounds like simple story but believe me, it´s not and it will tear you apart.

Can´t wait for another book by Aviva!

I really enjoyed this book. As a mother, I felt that I sided with one couple over the other, but could see both points of view.
I know the struggle of conceiving a child, and when you finally get to carry a baby for nine months, you make a connection. I didn’t like how standoffish Andy was when he learned the baby was not biologically his baby, and I felt he treated Cameron unfairly for trying to be a mother. Avery and Graham were wonderful parents throughout, never doubting their love.
The ending was very surprising, major tears streamed down my cheeks trying to make it through. But I was glad there was a happy ending.

I could not put this book down! The story reminded me so much of one of my all-time favorite authors, Jodi Piccoult. A very difficult and emotional topic, IVF. After two women go through IVF and finally become pregnant and carry their babies to term, they deliver them only to discover they are not biologically theirs. The chapters alternate between the two mothers as they fight for what they believe is right for their babies. This book was heart wrenching. At different points I felt empathy for both mothers. I cannot imagine how difficult it would be to experience something like this. I really enjoyed reading this book. Thank you, Aviva for sharing this beautiful story with me.

Oh my days - what a rollercoaster. I was not emotionally ready for this book.
The book focuses around two couples, both on their IVF journeys. The ups and the downs of IVF and pregnancy - and the heartbreaking realisation that their embryos have been mixed up.
The nature over nurture debate was raging in my head whilst reading this, could I give back a baby I had grown inside me? Could I let someone raise a child that was biologically mine?
I cried and cried reading this book and held my babies a little closer.
A really well researched, informative and heart rending story.
I received this ARC from the author in return for my honest review.

My gosh, I'm having a hard time processing this book. It's definitely going to stay with me for a very long time. My Heart from Inside made me ask myself difficult questions about what I would do in this situation. I don't have an answer, I doubt I ever will. This was an incredibly intense and very emotional read. I read it in two days and it left me wanting even more. I would recommend it (and already have friends who are reading it) to anyone. My Heart from Inside is the second book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more of her work.

There are many insights to the joy and pains of having a child. Though i do not have any kids, this book brought me some understanding of parenthood.
I liked that the book cycle between current timeline and back to the past yet so skillfully wrapped around the story.
May the readers experience the joys and pains found in the book. It did help me treasure my parents more, seeing how conceiving a child is not easy for some couples.
Give yourselves an opportunity to feel this book!

Stayed up late to finish this book because I was so anxious to know how it turned out. I just had to keep going. Trigger warning if you've had infertility struggles. The author uses her own experience with IVF to write a "what if" story of embryos switch by the clinic and what happens to the parents and children after birth. My copy was gifted, and I have no hesitation recommending it.

I recieved this book as a free download from the author. As an adopted person and also mother of biological AND bonus children, I found myself relating to both mothers. I recieved an ARC of this book from the author. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. While this book is fiction it is easy to imagine this scenario happening - a simple human error with unbelievable repercussions. The author writes this story in a way that has you cheering for both sides. Highly recommend this thought provoking page turner.

Totally Far-Fetched

I had never heard of this author before, and I’m not even sure how I came across this book, but it sounded interesting, so I downloaded it. The subject matter was definitely interesting, but the events that took place were not based in an ounce of reality. For example, once it was decided that the case would go to trial, the trial date was set for literally “one week” away, which is just ridiculous. Then, with only one week to prepare, both sides had found witnesses to testify- witnesses that would have had to have been decided upon, located, would have had to have agreed to testify, and would have all happened to be available on such short notice. They would have all had to have also been prepared for their testimony in that ridiculously short amount of time, as well. The “testimony” was also not realistic, either, as the line of questioning was ludicrous. They also apparently had time to select a jury, and jury experts within that same “one week” period of time, as well. This is absolutely not a real “courtroom drama”, so if that’s what you’re looking for, I would definitely skip this book. Something else also happened outside of the courtroom during the same time as the trial, and just how fast it happened, and how the situation was handled was totally preposterous.
Lastly, I was not at all impressed with the author making people go to her website, and sneakily having them subscribe to her emails in order to read the final chapter of the book. That’s a really crappy thing to do.

MY Heart from Inside by Aviva Gat instilled in me so many different emotions that I wouldn't know where to begin! I felt so much empathy for both mothers, fathers, and everyone involved. Aviva Gat did a beautiful job of writing a heartwarming as well as a heart-wrenching novel about infertility! I can't even imagine going through the emotional roller-coaster that these characters endured! It grabbed me from the start and wouldn't turn me loose! I would encourage all of my reading friends to pick up this book. I will feel it Inside my soul for a very long time!
Thanks so much, Aviva Gat, for writing about a topic that most of us rarely think about. You covered all of it with such dexterity that I hope others will reach out to read it, especially if they are having a difficult time conceiving. It really tore me apart, and the irony of the situation is not something that I am willing to give away!
Terrific job!

This book is beautifully written, detailed, and heartbreaking 💔
.
Gat presents to her readers the story of two couples: Avery and Graham, and Cameron and Andy. The families find themselves with the ‘wrong’ children after receiving IVF treatment. 📚
.
This is honestly a gut-wrenching way to present the idea of what defines a mother. Gat shows her readers the effects of not only the negligence at the IVF clinic, but the difficulties at the courts during the trials. 💚

kind of weird

I read this relatively quickly, more out of curiosity than anything else. I’ve read something else by this author that I liked better. This felt a bit…rushed. Two couples go to a fertility clinic for IVF and there’s a mixup. The rest is about both what led up to it and what happens after, not necessarily in order, which can be a bit confusing. It’s a little heartbreaking but not completely. A good read but not a great one.
