Having newly discovered Dharma Kelleher and her genre of biker thriller (??), I was eager to see if her past life experiences could fluidly translate into an effective novel this being her debut. Shea Stevens has been running the Iron Goddess, a custom motorcycle shop, for the past number of years. In doing what she loves, Shea has been able to put her criminal past in the proverbial rearview mirror. When she arrives to discover she's been robbed of a major custom order and one of her employees has been shot, she cannot help but see red. Curious as to who might be responsible, Shea contemplates the Confederate Thunder, a local biker gang with whom she has a sordid past; her reprobate father having been their president in her youth. With few clues, Shea makes the gamble and reached out to her estranged sister, Wendy, who is married to the current president of the Thunder, a man with little to no respect for anyone, including his family. While trying to learn if Confederate Thunder might be responsible, Shea learns that her niece has been kidnapped, potentially by a rival Mexican gang. Forced to work with her brother-in-law, Shea has flashbacks of her own youth and vows to help Wendy get out of the life before she ends up dead. When the kidnappers reach out, Shea does all she can help, which puts her in many precarious positions of her own. Further clues might tie the kidnappers to the break-in at the Iron Goddess, but there is another more sinister revelation that rocks the Arizona community, a stone's throw from the heart of Phoenix. Kelleher tells a powerful story with ease and pulls the reader in so effortlessly. A must read for those looking to branch out in their thriller genre reading.

I admit I know little about motorcycles or their affiliated gangs, outside of my obsession with SAMCRO for seven seasons. However, when I learned of Kelleher and her writing, I thought I would see if it parallels what I knew about the 'life'. Everything fits nicely and I felt in the middle of a local charter that has enemies all around it and the police sniffing around. Kelleher not only builds up a number of decent bikers as characters, but is able to offset the life that Shea is seeking to shed with a bright future before her. Layering numerous plot lines together, as Kelleher has done, can be risky, as the reader must be invested in them all for it to work out well. The novel balances everything and offers just enough of each plot to keep the story moving forward and the reader from getting lost in the shuffle. There is much to be said of this, alongside the quick chapters that tease just enough information out so as to push the reader a little further. I am eager to rev things up and get into the second Shea Stevens thriller, just as soon as I can cool my engines and get this review posted.

Kudos, Madam Kelleher for a wonderful debut in the realm of novel writing. If this is anything like some of the other ideas you have, you will gather a following quickly and without issue.

This book wasn't bad, I think, but it also wasn't for me. It has strong language, horrific scenes, and violence and bigotry, but it was none of those that put me off. In the beginning it was very interesting, but as it went on, the sheer amount of times Shea gets beaten up, shot, slashed at, thrown off her motorcycle, and experiences various other horrible things, got a little unbelievable. The lady shouldn't have recovered in weeks from all of her assorted injuries, let alone in hours. Don't even get me started on the number of times all these things could have been avoided, since Shea just walked into situation after situation cocksure and trigger happy. I can't say I liked her.

I received a copy of this book via the publishers and NetGalley. This did not influence my review whatsoever.

Iron Goddess is about Shea Stevens, a young woman with a past who’s made a life for herself building custom bikes for women and employing folks with a past to give them a second chance at a normal life. All that is great, and then she finds one of her young employees, a former addict, lying shot on the floor of her shop and the three, shiny new custom bikes her crew just finished gone. After that, she gets pulled into a dangerous game of trying to track down the bikes and the niece she never knew she had while, at the same time, reconciling with her estranged sister.

Alright, first off, wow. This book’s a lot of fun. It’s exciting and dangerous, non-stop. I really had trouble putting it down. And it’s all like something out of a TV show; I could totally picture myself getting addicted to it. The main character is strong, but not unrealistically so. She fights back, but doesn’t always win. I also dug how the story isn’t solving just one crime, but multiple ones, and the culprits aren’t obvious. It gets really scary at times, and I felt emotionally invested early on.

Folks who dig an action-packed thriller, but fear this may be more of a romance based on the LGBT tag need not worry. This isn’t a romance, and there aren’t any detailed love scenes. Really, it just happens that the main character has a girlfriend and her business partner used to be a woman. All of it just seems to be how it is, nothing special, as it should be.

More importantly for folks who are sensitive to it, this book features graphic violence and holds no bars for strong language. After all, the main character is caught up in a gang war. It fits the genre; just don’t be surprised.

Overall, I loved this book, and I would highly recommend it to adult fans of action, MC, and strong heroines. It’s a gritty read, but exciting and satisfying. I’m looking forward to another installment. Oh, and I love that cover art and how it portrays Shea.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley so that I could review it on my blog for my stop on Lola’s Blog Tours.

I was looking forward to reading this book after I had read the synopsis. Unfortunately, this book was more of a disappointment than the fun filled ride I was hoping for.

My biggest problem with the book is that I didn't find most of the characters likable or their actions very believable.

Shea was kind of a bitch, and not in a way that I would find entertaining, more in the way I would avoid. She bumbled around overreacting and causing more trouble for herself than she started with. I get why she was upset and why she was desperate to find the stolen motorcycles but the way the story advanced was annoying.

The way Shea treated her girlfriend also made me not like her very much. She was often condescending and seemed to have very little respect for the woman at all.

Also, many times in the book I wondered why no one had gotten the FBI involved and how the police could possibly be as stupid and bumbling as they appeared to be. I get that the local police had known Shea since she was a trouble making kid, but come on, can Arizona cops really this craptastically stupid and/or corrupt? Is logic and common sense completely forbidden there?

(Spoiler)
For me, the fact that when clear corruption was shown Shea was just told to lay low while they got internal affairs involved was completely unbelievable. I don't think that the policy for this degree of corruption and criminality within a police force this small would be just to call in IA. You can't let a psycho continue to kill, maim, steal, and kidnap while someone looks into it.

I can't recommend reading this book.

Detailed Review on Life as Freya
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Apart from being the name of Shea’s bike shop, Iron Goddess the title is also a metaphor for the strength she must find in herself. I quite liked the cover with its rugged colour tones and graphic. The blurb is a good test of what to expect in the book.

I found the plot new and different, I haven’t read a story like Iron Goddess before. Dharma Kelleher surprised me constantly, I kept guessing what would come next but she always had an ace up her sleeve. I like books that keep me on my toes.

I’ve never been to America or Arizona where this story plays out but the descriptions of the mountains, valleys, city roads, traffic, sudden rains and more, made it all very real for me.

Shea’s strength and will to fight was something I admired but her stubbornness to not stay out of trouble got to me a few times. And then there was her sister and the chauvinistic men who really got my goat. Iron Goddess has a varied cast of characters and I enjoyed the diversity in the book. The characters of Iron Goddess feel real, their emotions and reactions easy to associate with.

Dharma Kelleher uses simple language that makes for fast reading and the story is fast paced too. The climax is good but unexpected and took me a while to accept.

Overall, Iron Goddess was an enjoyable read and I recommend it if you are looking for a fun, action-packed diverse book. I learned a thing or two about American Bike Culture too!

I received a copy of Iron Goddess in exchange for an honest review.
Mix boosting cars with prison time and a custom motorcycle shop and your end result is Shae; a bad ass biker chick with a wicked side. In Iron Goddess Shae is immediately met with a crisis at 4 am. Someone has broken into her shop and stolen several thousand dollars’ worth of bikes and equipment. Being the daughter of a former local MC’s president, Shae doesn’t trust the cops to find her product. On her search to find the truth behind the robbery, Shae is met with challenge after challenge. Soon she finds herself dead center of numerous murders, an abduction and the local drug cartel.
I’ll be quite honest now and tell you that I picked up this book simply for the fact that the main character is a lesbian biker chick. In this day and age, gay and lesbian books are popping up left and right. I applaud Dharma Kelleher for her tact while creating this beautifully tormented work of art. You won’t find any steamy lesbian sex scenes geared for men and you won’t find another emotional coming out story. Our main character in Iron Goddess is simply a lesbian, no explanation necessary. I want to jump up and down with joy, I want to shake Dharma’s hand and thank her profusely for giving us Shae. It’s about time we have a lesbian like Shae to follow!
Iron Goddess is fast paced and action packed. From the first paragraph to the last sentence you will be hanging on every word. Sons of Anarchy fans are sure to love this female driven lead. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

First of all, let me say that I think the target audience for this book will love it. That's not me (I'm not that keen on reading about gangs, to be honest), but I enjoyed it a lot anyway, even though it was a bit violent for my taste. I think one of the reasons is that I really like flawed characters, and Shea Stevens is definitely that. She makes mistakes. She flounders. She does dumb things. But she's likeable because she cares on both a personal and philosophical level. She has a well developed sense of justice. She puts herself in danger in order to save other people, even when those people keep trying to sabotage themselves.

I would like to see a lot more from this author, partly because I think she's a good writer with some interesting ideas, and partly because I see this book as the setup for a series in which Shea grows and changes. The character is knocked for a loop here, and I think things are about to change for her in a big way. I also think some of the other characters are very interesting and have a lot of potential for development, such as her business partner, her girlfriend, and her niece.

I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.

This is a fast paced thriller in which Shea, and ex-con, is working hard at making an honest living at making custom motorcycles for women. I had never actually thought about the need for women to need bikes sized differently, so I found this part of the novel interesting.

Unfortunately for Shea, her shop is robbed of a group of very high profile bikes. Their loss could destroy her business, so she reaches out to her old contacts to try and recover them. What follows is a very fast paced tale that drags her back into the criminal world of motorcycle clubs. This is not a cleaned up sexy MC story, but a very gritty and harsh novel that shows the horrors that can occur. At a point in the novel, the violence and murders were almost unending - for me, it was almost too much.

I really liked how Shea has "adopted strays" - people that have complicated pasts and that don't fit neatly into society. Additionally, while Shea is in a monogamous relationship with her girlfriend, the affection scenes were written with a light touch that I appreciated.

I am looking forward to future works by this author and think she is an author to watch.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Several LGBTQ characters and each introduced respectfully without a big deal made about their sexuality. Yes, it is a part of who they are, but this is a story about a biker and motorcycle shop owner first and foremost, and she gets to be the action star in this story.

While Shea isn't always a particularly likeable character (her need to jump in and get things done herself seems to create a lot more harm than good), she definitely feels human and her mistakes come with consequences that she must live with.

This easily fits the genre of thriller as there is nonstop action from the first page to the last! I'm not big on these gritty action novels, especially with the amount of graphic violence that this book has, but I still found a lot to enjoy.

Despite using every cliché and stereotype about biker gangs, this is a great book. The people in play are fashioned in depth, and the reader finds themselves rooting for people they probably wouldn't like in person. The story-telling is done so well that the character become endearing and the plot develops in a way that holds the reader's interest. Many bad things happen, starting from the very beginning when Shea finds a young employee shot and bleeding in her motorcycle building shop. Kelleher has the unique ability to create flawed people, put them in extreme situations, and make you like them. If you want something off-beat but engrossing, this is the book for you.

Honestly I am torn over weather or not I liked this book. Shea the MC was like a bumbling idiot just falling into dangerous situations. This story was fast paced and the author was just cramming so much unbelievable situations into the story line that I was getting whiplash trying to keep up. The lesbian aspect did not really factor in as the MC spent very little time with her partner. I don't think it was necessary to the plot other than it gave the bad guys a chance to call her derogatory names. Not really my cup of tea and was upset about Shea's sister and her outcome.

Also sorry about my errors writing on the cell phone sucks.

So I this on Amazon I had typed in mystery slash thriller and this popped up I read the summary sound like a really good book I purchased the book the first book which was free and it's free on all platforms as far as I am aware that includes the author's personal website for the book and Amazon and Google Play and I do believe also Apple so you can get the first book free copy of it with no hassle with that being said I got my free copy from Google Play I do most of my reading there when I can unless something is not on there and I have to go to Kindle.

Okay so my thoughts on this book cuz I just finished it and I am definitely going to be jumping into snitch after this review to get halfway into that I loved it it's rough is gritty it is violent it's edgy is ruthless it makes no apologies for it's ruthlessness for its edginess for everything it simply is and I have read a lot of lesbian stories I mean a lot and I have not found the story like this since I've been into reading lesbian story whether it's fanfiction or whether I purchase a book for my actual author this book stands on its own and that is a wonderful thing okay it doesn't apologize for any of the characters in this book whether they're the bad guys or the good guys okay they're just people doing what they think they got to do whether that's on the right side of law the wrong side of law or somewhere in between it definitely does not apologize for its characters being part of the lgbtq or any of that the main character Shea is a lesbian she doesn't make no apologies for.

I like her I like Shay I like the fact that she's a woman who's a biker who likes to build bikes once to stay out of trouble has a very bad past can't stand biker clubs especially the one her father used to run used to boost cars unfortunately I was not able to get my hands on the boost book which is the prologue or beginning in leading into this book I couldn't find it anywhere and not even on the author's website so unfortunately I couldn't read that first book despite it being listed on a good read so I had to skip that one to come to this first book but yeah the characters are awesome she's a tomboy/Butch I think she's more than a tomboy side though I love butch or tomboy characters I think that they are very far in between when it comes to lesbian stories so every time I get a chance to read a character who don't like makeup and dresses and all that s*** and simply just want to wear some jeans I f*** with it so that was just really good to have that kind of character yes so I think the character she's flawed she's she has heart and I cannot wait to see her relationship grow as being a parent or caregiver in this case to Anne and and trying to be an auntie all around up in one package she's going to stumble I think but I think her and Anne relationship is going to hopefully develop in a nice way they went through something traumatic together and even at the end of This book I could definitely see them growing even closer than they already are which is going to make our character do her best to protect her family because she's in the position of having a family now it's not just her anymore so she has a little girl to think about so I cannot wait to see how that mindset comes into play in the next book because it was just hurt in the beginning of this book and at the end of the book she knows little girl to worry about whether she can see this little girl her daughter or not this is someone that it's depending on her her niece is a priority I think Anne is a very very sweetheart and she's been through something traumatic in this story that not many little girls should go through so I cannot wait to see her grow and pray nothing else happens to her cuz she's been through a lot especially after the events that take place with her mother so and I won't spoil anything else from there

But if you take one thing away from the story take all the violence take all that stuff out of it take the everything out I think the one thing that I took away from this story is that your family doesn't have to be blood related your family can be people that you have made connections with and they can become your family too and I think that's the important thing that I took away from the story and I can't wait to see these group of people continue to grow one another continue to change and they're going to be challenged and what they do in that challenge would define who they are as people and also who they are as family so I can't wait to see that and to see how the author writes that.

Now for the love interest with Shea I don't think that's going to last long I usually click very well with the love interest between the two main women but in this case I don't think she fits Shay I hate to say I just don't think she fits her despite the character love interest being a black woman which I do love that that's not a lot of black lesbian women that at least I have read as a black woman myself I don't see a lot of that representation. In a lot of lesbian books so I was happy to at least see that but I just don't think this relationship is going to work I'm guessing and this was this is just a guess but I think the relationship is probably going to end after book two my personal guess they just don't fit they're from two different worlds now who I think she would probably end up with next though especially since I think they're going to be forced to work together and book two just from the summary I read of book two.

Would be detective Toni I really want to learn more about her she's still such a mystery even though we've been introduced to her in first book but the fact that the author herself just mention how her name was something else before she changed it that just tells me that this character is way more important than what I'm giving her credit for so with that being said I look forward to getting to know this character more and I think forbidden Love in a way to people in the opposite side of law falling from one another the opposite of track kind of thing I just hope it doesn't end like Romeo and Juliet like it kind of has that vibe a detective a cop falls for a ex-con/biker mechanic that sounds like a very interesting and very complicated relationship to be in and I would love to see that play out I could be wrong but I would like to see that play out.

But other than that that's my review for this first book of iron goddess I think the author did an amazing job with this book if you have which son of anarchy as she said at the end of this first book it authors page explaining her thought process going into this book when she wrote it this is a female version of son of anarchy I just hope that Shea has a better ending than son of anarchy did author if you read this please don't do that to me again but yeah I think that this is going to hit the fans that enjoy some of anarchy is going to attract people like myself who wants to greedy badass chick who does what she got to do and don't actually make excuses and just text it take some hits and keep moving I thought that everything that was done in this book felt realistic whether it wasn't or not it didn't feel like Hollywood stuff as some of the comments said I felt like the character reacted and reacted very realistically at least to me there was never a moment where I had to feel like oh man I got to use my imagination cuz I don't really think this is actually realistic I never felt that way as I was reading this book.

Anyway if you like an edgy rough and tough tomboy / Butch woman this is it for you at the end of the day she kicks ass she stumbles she makes mistakes she can be rash impulsive but she's flawed but she also has a good heart and she believes in in women power like every woman should and that's what I love about it.

And that's for warnings I will say this there is as far as I'm aware no rape there is a character reveal of a 15-year-old getting in a relationship with a 19 year old even though now they're adults when this has been told so there's that but outside of that there's NO rape now that I could probably change going into the next books but for this book and from the little summary I got in book two as far as I know that doesn't happen but to add to this warning this book does not apologize there is murder there is harm of a child but not in rape so I'll just let you know about that but a child does get hurt a child is kidnapped there is drugs guns gangs this is this is what this is about again I say it again if you seen son of anarchy this is what this is just a lgbtq version of that if that's something you're not interested in then I suggest don't read this book but if you like that show and you always wanted a female version or here you go someone wrote it for us.

Iron Goddess Shea Stevens wakes up to one of the worst days she's had lately. Her motorcycle shop has been broken into, and not only is her merchandise gone, the custom bikes made for one of the most popular bands have been stolen. And as bad as the day started, the next few are only going to get worse.

Iron Goddess, the latest novel from Dharma Kelleher starts with a full throttled roar, and carries that intensity straight through the very last page. Not an incredibly easy feat, and one handled with deft prose and no holds back action.

Shea grew up in a biker gang, so she knows her way in and around them. Those skills that Shea learned and honed before going to prison are going to come in handy very soon. In fact, they start coming in handy later that morning when Shea's estranged sister shows up with a plea to find her daughter who has been kidnapped.

Looking for her sister's child puts Shea in the most dangerous situations of her life. From trying to escape the wrath of the Jaguars, the local heroin dealing gang, running from the cops under suspicion of kidnapping and murder, trying to figure out who kidnapped her niece, and working to stay in the good graces of her  new girlfriend, Shea has her work cut out for her.

I can't really say too much more, because it'll give away the majority of the plot points. But it's a fun read. It comes across as a version of the most pumped up action movie you can imagine, amplified by ten, and staring the most kickass, butchass biker dyke ever. And while Shea keeps getting curb stomped by the nonstop action in her life, she protects those she finds most dear to her.

Total novel to be recommended to the action-adventure fans, the lovers of dykes, and of strong, kickass women who refuse to roll over and take what life hands to them. It's a very fast read, with some very, very brutal violence. That may be a turnoff for some readers, so I'm giving fair warning. It's brutal and graphic, but it's pretty important to the story, and the future Shea Stevens novels will add to the violence and body count.

What a fun thriller! Violent, hard-hitting, a little funny, a little queer, a little strange - all in all, a wild ride. I can't wait to see what Shea does next!

Unique LGBTQ perspective is cool/intriguing in this book but understated (which is cool, it's not the point but it's there, and it's nice to hear a different voice). It ultimately doesn't matter though - this is a fun story and it's all about the characters and an exciting plot that brings up issues of family loyalty, addiction, identity crises, and acceptance.

Can't wait to see what Shea does next!

I love the little group of misfit characters that surround Shea - very likable and relatable folks that make the book a bit more special - these side characters are what have me hooked for the next installment!

Iron Goddess is an action-packed page-turner, centering on Shea Stevens, an outlaw misfit, who lives in intersecting worlds of motorcycle gangs, drug dealers, and corrupt lawmen.

Murder, theft, kidnapping, double-dealing, and car and motorcycle chases keep the heart pounding. Dharma Kelleher weaves a tale in which Shea sometimes plunges forward on sheer impulse, somehow managing to wiggle out of every predicament, though not unscathed. It kept me reading past my usual bedtime.

This is a gritty, noir, outlaw tale, of a type I rarely pick up. I look forward to the sequel. There’s got to be one.

Shea is a terrific new gritty hard working protagonist! Make no mistake, there is a lot of violence in this well written novel but it's not gratuitous and it is consistent with the plot. Shea has managed to cobble together a life on the right side of the law only to find herself pulled back over in the pursuit of the bad guys. The fact that there are lgbtq characters is a plus but mostly because it's not a big deal. Two thumbs up and thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'd like to see more from Kelleher, perhaps continuing the Annie=Shea storyline, although Annie really deserves a happy calm rest of her life.

Shea is just how I like my protagonists. She's not perfect. She's an ex-con turned good. She believes in second chances and employs other ex-cons at her shop. She's not a cute biker chick and she isn't an over the top bad ass. Her character is realistic and flawed. The writer really fleshed her out well and brought her to life.

It was fun to read, fraught with danger, with several different plot lines that came together well. Learning about the horrors Shea has faced in the past and how it has affected her today really made this more than a biker thriller.

I highly recommend it!

This was a story involving a lot of violence. There were people who live without much love but always looking for a good deal and being top dog. Then there are the ones who try and make a good life against all the odds. It was an interesting story but I can't say I enjoyed it, I am not a fan of gratuitous violence but I had this persistent need to find out if good would prevail.

Not a romance, but a thriller. Not scary, but intense with gangs and violence and intrigue. Some graphic details of violence, but not over done or overly shocking. Looks like a set up for a sequel as well.

fun Biker Chick thriller book

So. Found this while searching around and the minute I read the synopsis I couldn't stop myself from immediately reading it.
It's a great book. But I feel a bit lied to from the synopsis, it kinda made it seem like this main character Shea would do anything to get her niece back. And while she does, it wasn't without her being a bit dragged into it. I don't know, it just doesn't hold the spirit of what was written.
Also I couldn't get over some of the things cops shouldn't have been able to do. Like giving a gun back to a known ex-con even though they shouldn't be able to own one, and other things. But this is a rural place, apparently.
All of this seems to take place within a few days. And half the time it just seems like every character is flip flopping on their words and stands.
Every plan Shea has is just stupid, but at least she admits it. But it doesn't stop me from thinking she has a huge death wish.
I'm not saying don't read this book. I'm just saying be ready to read a book with a lot of flawed and contradictive characters (all characters to be honest, except her girlfriend which is only a few months old relationship and they are already living together. Talk about a stereotypical lesbian U-Haul.)
It was a fun book though, had a lot of cool scenes and badassery.
I Do plan to read the rest of the series. I'm just hoping the next book will have fixed up the contradictory nature of everyone in this.

Iron Goddess (Shea Stevens #1) — Dharma Kelleher (49 chapters) November 5-6, 2021

Sometimes I get into a string of really nasty books where there is no character growth and/or nothing that keeps me hooked into the story. This is not one of those streaks. This book follows a wonderful witchy book and a totally different genre.

Shea is a former con who got a lucky second chance to clean up her act and start a business that she loves and is good at. She surrounds herself with several ex-cons, a trans male co-business owner, and a wonderful POC girlfriend.

She is not listening to the cops and tracking down who stole her custom bikes she and her crew made for a girl’s rock band, but her criminal biker-family past catches up. She connects with her estranged sister, meets her niece and discovers who has her bikes.

All though mostly everything comes out all right in the end, there are some heartbreaking bumps what I loathed to see happen.

But these plot advancements are what make this story fresh and delightful. It also makes me yearn to read more about Shea and Jess and their families.

The ending does entice me to read the next book in the series…. but … so many books so little time!

Four stars.

I’m on the fence about this one. It was fast moving and I liked that it wasn’t the same old story with the same old characters. The bad ass main character is a lesbian, business partner was a woman but is now a man, employees have their own issues, sister is a junkie, mother was murdered, father was an abuser..... and so on.

But....

It is an action flick in print. Sure, there’s a plot but it’s pretty thin. Isn’t it convenient how the protagonist always manages to survive each life threatening situation? And trust me, there are A LOT of them in a very short period of time.

Bottom line is that there is no way Shea should have or could have rebounded from the injuries she sustained in order to do what she did over the course of a week. There were a few other scenes in the book that had me thinking and reading so,etching twice because it didn’t quite add up (like pinning Hunter’s murder on the Jaguars when they had assault rifles and he was killed with a Glock).

Not my usual read but...

I wasn't sure what to expect. To be honest, this is the first book I have read featuring an openly lesbian lead. Turns out, I mostly enjoyed the ride it took me on. I've never seen the straw of the motorcycle clubs, esp knowing that the women are treated as property, so I was happy with the way it ended. No love the bad boys guilt. I'm looking forward to the next story. If you have a problem with raw and racist language, or the body count racking up, this may not be the book for you. If you like your stories with brutal, honest reality, then you should read it.

Shea is a hard bitten, whip smart, tough as nails don’t take no s**t from anyone kinda girl that made it out of a bad situation into a better one. She is compassionate and fierce in her loyalties and deadly to people who wrong the ones she loves. This book started with a roar and never let up. The ride was bumpy and twisty and full of everything from corrupt cops to Mexican cartels to long lost relatives. It pulled at my heart, made me angry for her and made me love her and all her flaws. I am looking forward to more books in this series; they are guaranteed to be worth the read.

I downloaded The Iron Goddess as a free ebook from Amazon. Not sure what I expected, but I enjoyed this storyline and the diverse cast of characters. I found the plot interesting, and the pacing was perfect. The relationships are what I found the most satisfying. There was an eclectic mix of personalities with LGBTQ and minorities (race, for example) presenting sensitive and unusual sub-plots (due to how these characters are viewed by others). This is an author I'd love to read again.

Wow. Just wow. This was a great book. The story was captivating, action-packed. I couldn't put it down. Extremely violent, graic and hard language though. If you're sensitive to that, definitely not the book for you. If you can handle it, though, it's definitely worth a read.

A high octane thrill of a ride

What can one say abut this motorcycle novel with a crazy cast of characters. A lesbian bike co-owner with her black transsexual co-owner with assorted criminal elements each trying to harm or kill each other. The novel is highly recommended.

Great writing, a nuanced protagonist, and an unusual setup made for a fun read. The lesbian biker's sexuality was not THE point of the book, but rather simply a facet of who she is, so the character felt real. Good, snappy dialogue. Worthwhile!
