What was the gospel message carried by the first century apostles? In the first volume, we discovered Jesus referenced Daniel 7 more than any other passage. He used Son of Man as His primary title, and He used Daniel 7 as a concise summary of the gospel of the kingdom. We found that, if we miss the way Jesus used this one chapter, we can easily misinterpret His message. This raises a profound Did the apostles continue to use Daniel 7 as a foundation for their gospel? When we examine the New Testament carefully, we find something Daniel 7 was a framework the apostles repeatedly used to present the gospel of the kingdom. In fact, the main themes of the New Testament gospel are all found in this one chapter. The gospel is often reduced to an individual decision to "receive" Jesus, but it is much more than that. It is time to rediscover the apostles’ gospel so we can proclaim the same gospel they carried. Come, view the apostles’ gospel through the lens of Daniel 7, and rediscover the message that turned the world upside down.
The author is not easy to read at parts, but I appreciated a few of his ideas that Jesus and the apostles new the old testament really well and the majority of their teaching came from their understanding of the old testament. There's a lot to learn about the title "Son of Man" and I think this author helps shed a light on the title most used by Jesus and the prophecy most often referenced by Him and His followers.
The book follows the first volume, and explores how the apostles too used Daniel 7 as their framework to explain the gospel of the kingdom (Matthew 24:14).
Various passages in the NT are examined with this lens, notably Peter’s sermon on Pentecost, the term “Lord Jesus Christ”, Stephen’s vision and martyrdom, and Paul’s framework for the gospel.
Afterwards, the key points of the apostolic gospel are covered, before explaining the majesty of the priesthood of Jesus and the believers. Finally, wrapping up with analysing how Revelation is, in a sense, and commentary and exposition of Daniel 7, focusing on the revealing of the Son of Man and His actions.
A really concise exposition of how Daniel 7 is a key to understand the gospel holistically, instead of separated concepts. It is important to recognise the need to strengthen our ability to proclaim Jesus with clarity, and not just parts of His messages and His identity.
should definitely read the first volume before embarking on this!
