The Academy has fallen, the Apocolypse has started and Hildi needs her Immortals. To reunite with them, she must travel with Luke, Elizabeth, and Marshal through the levels of hell. Each level will exploit their individual weaknesses to the extreme. If they manage to survive to the end, they will face the devil himself to determine the fate of the upperworld.

This book was close. I liked the idea of the levels, reclaiming one Immortal on each level as he faces his worst nightmare or his inner demons. I liked the substitution for Miya since he wasn't working and his replacement, surprisingly really did. The final showdown was anti-climatic, however. The build-up battles were good, but it felt like the team needed more than one night together. And the "bad guys" who had been such a threat previously were dispatched too easily. After that, the return to the Nead fell flat. The epilogue made up for some of it but I still would have liked more. Continuing into their next adventure a little bit could have been so much fun.

2.5 ⭐️
I enjoyed the world building in this series, and the characters. Although I didn’t quite connect to the FMC as much as I wanted to. Did want more POV from the other characters, there was a bit from them but not enough. Had a lot plot build up but did feel it then rushed through. Especially the end! Finished feeling a bit like...what happened?! The whole series is focused around the apocalypse and this book all about travelling through hell to get to Lucifer. They meet him right in the end and then poof he’s dead?! Definitely came across as too easy and a bit sudden. The same felt with the deaths of Roland and Victorine...they were feared immortals that were just suddenly killed somewhat easily when the time came?! I don’t know, I’m not sure what to make of this series. I loved the imagination from the author in creating the world and characters, just the execution didn’t work for me.

Hildi has been through the wringer. She was betrayed by someone she cared for, was used and abused by an evil pain in the rear, and now she has to face the various levels of Hell in order to reclaim her Immortals. Things get crazy and there are so many twists, but Hildi eventually gets her happy ever after. Not the one she probably expected, but one all the same. I love that we get to see Morgan and her guys one last time and get to see her baby. I also love the brief mention of Nadya and Liam. That was a twist I didn't see coming, but rather enjoyed. This is a great ending to what has been an interesting series.

Finally we get to see the conclusion of this battle with Hildi and her guys!! Sacrifice, deceit, destiny and heart are at the core of this tale. And in the center is one fierce, bada$$ Valkyrie ready to save the world and be with her loves!! Get ready to read about the fight of their lives. Who will end up victorious... Lucifer or Hildi and her men?

Warning: this is NOT a standalone. You need to at least have read the previous two books in this series. For bonus points also read the original series this was the spin-off from: THE RAVEN QUEEN'S HAREM.

not too bad

I think after the second book, my feelings for this series were kind of stuck on the negative. There were still inconsistencies. For instance, where did Luke’s horn go? You know the horns that showed up when he was horn-y (lol), but also, Hildi says she kissed him in spin the bottle, but she only ever kissed Marshal. Either way, it all ends well and I suppose that’s what matters.

Not my favorite series of Lawson’s by far, but I don’t regret reading it

I really really enjoyed this book, so much so that I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting. It moves along at a great pace, making for a comfortable read, has amazing characters that you will fall in love with and want to know more about and a story that keeps you reading till the end. This is a must read book and you will not be sorry that you did.

I liked this a lot more than the Raven Quren series but she really needs to get a new editor. There are so, SO many typos (a instead of as, Elizabet instead of Elizabeth, etc.), changes from 1st to 3rd person and forgetting who's in the scene or who the 1st person in that chapter.

If this was edited properly, I would have said this series is a fun, quick read and given it a 4.5.

What an adventure!

Moving through the rings of hell might be the most imaginative storyline I have read in a while! Absolutely enchanting to see how each immortal faced their demons, and as for Luke...well you have to read this book to figure out if he is sin or something else.

The ending

The book was great and the ending seemed a bit short. The rest of the story held true to the other books and Hildi's personality, the ending was good too just short.

Student becomes the teacher

Great ending to the series. I love the build up and the twists and turns it took. The ending is so fitting.
