How well can you know someone by the back of their head and eyes in the rear-view mirror? Well, Will was about to find out. You see Lori is Will’s fulltime driver. Each drive they would exchange a couple of words other than, Hello. Work always pulled him away. She didn’t expect anything less. Will is in his mid-thirties, a billionaire, and owns a publishing company. He built his own. At first, Will was reluctant to hire a woman but she was qualified and professional. She never spoke unless spoken to and drove no matter when or where. On this day though he needs to meet a client at a book signing. He asked Lori to be back at noon. To his surprise, she said the car would stay up front and she would walk down the way to have a coffee. Not at a chain coffee house either. The author he was meeting said that a coffee house is a great place for creativity that he wrote his first manuscript there. I told him to go check it out and have a coffee with none other than Lori. Very cute book. For a short, it had all the elements you want. Troupe, interest, characters you can engage with, and steam. I give this: 5 stars. Got this free from Amazon. This was a great short story by Annie Ford. Despite the brief length (only 40 pages) the characters were very clear in both personality and physical description.
Will, the CEO of a publishing company, worked outside the office a great deal, and therefore spent a great deal of time with Lori (his driver). He found that he wanted to get to know more about her than just what the back of her head looked like! I loved their banter and how their relationship developed.
It was a fun, quick read with no angst or irritation - yah! I do wish the ending had not been quite so abrubt. Definately gave you a feel for where things were going, but I like a bit more definition. But hey, maybe that's just me. I would certainly recommend this book if you're looking for a relaxing "no-brainer" (just fun, no thinking). I received it as an ARC, but that did not effect my review at all.
This is a short but intriguing story with a very different take on “boss & employee”. Lori is a driver for William, the head of a very successful publishing house. He admires her punctuality and efficiency; she admires his work ethic, his friendliness and the ability to make her feel need (in a good way). The flow of the story relating the change from employee & boss to more than friends is so subtly done, it feels very plausible. Through conversations, a slight push from a friend of Will’s, and Lori’s warm and friendly personality we find these two really do want to get to know one another, to spend time together. While it certainly could be lengthened with more happenings and a permanent relationship could be described, I find this “snapshot” is so well done that I am happy with it just the way it is. Thank-you, Ms Ford for a quick read with such a good feel to it!
This was a quick read about a billionaire publisher named Will and his driver Lori. Lori was a struggling writer and was a driver for Will. Will was attracted to Lori and the more he was around her, the more she interested him. Lori also performed spoken word at an open mike night and when Will lost a bet with her, he had to attend to watch her perform. Will and Lori had a connection and Will wanted to explore it with Lori and have more. This was a steamy read, Will and Lori had an instant love connection and great chemistry. It was like they were together forever. Good one.
This was a great fast read. This author is to the point no messing around. The relationship between Lori & Will started as an employee boss relationship but they both in their own way appreciated things that they saw from one another on a daily. They just needed a bit of a push to cross the lines. I definitely want to read more from this author.
The cover does nothing for the story. The premise is original with Lori and Will wondering about each other as they go through their daily routine. One day Will takes the initiative and things changed, now the story takes off. The writing style and vocabulary are an added bonus👍! This book is a must read!! Enjoy!
She is trying to make it as an author and drives for a man who owns a publishing house. Things stay that for awhile until something happens and things change between them. Interesting, emotional, exciting and much more. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Lori was the driver for Will. He a publisher and her a closet writer. Both are drawn to each other but also from different worlds. A short but enjoyable read....lots of entertainment. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A fun little bite of a story, this book was a quick, easy read with very likable characters. Both Lori and Will get to tell their tale, but I liked Will's honesty and changes for the better best.
Short novel, would class this more as a prequel. The plot and the love interest is there, but needed an ending with either a moving into together, getting married or having kids. It leaves you hanging in the way the relationship is left..
Lori has been driving Will around town until one day he steps out of his comfort zone and actually talks to her. Once they connect on a personal level everything changes for them.
A very good read. Once I started I couldn't stop til I finished it. Great job Annie. This short story is available on Amazon and I appreciated the chance to review this book
I know it was supposed to be short and sweet but com on! There was no substance. I have read a couple of your books Ms. Ford and they were good. What happened?
I thought, when I read the title, that it was just another Cinderella story, poor girl - rich boy. It was much more than that. For a short read it encompassed a lot of elements. I see a series in the future.
