Celebrates Brigid Brophy’s life’s work, its diversity, originality and achievement This book explores all aspects of Brophy’s literary career, alongside contributions on animal rights, vegetarianism, anti-vivisectionism, humanism, feminism and sexual politics, not only celebrating Brophy’s eclectic achievements but fully reflecting them. Contributors include literary critics, animal rights activists, Brophy’s daughter, Kate Levey, and Brophy herself.
As a lifetime fan of Brigid Brophy and her works, I have been looking forward to reading this book since learning of its forthcoming publication. However, with a price tag of a staggering £80 per copy, this is hardly going to fly off the shelves and is beyond my purchasing powers. With British public libraries in serious financial straights, this book is hardly likely to be available for most people. Not at all, I would have thought, what Brigid would have wanted. When can we expect sensibly priced editions to appear?
