I'm a wife and mother of three teenage kids. I've been married to the same wonderful man for twenty years. I've decided that if I can survive raising three kids then I can survive anything!! I haven't uttered the Mama's curse yet, but it could happen any day now. You know the one..."I hope you have a child just like you someday."
I'm an avid reader and lover of all things romance. I've spent my entire adult life waiting to follow my dreams of becoming a writer. One day this past summer, I decided to just do it. No more wishing and hoping. I haven't quit my day job, but that is my ultimate goal...make a living telling stories of love.
I write contemporary gay fiction. I hope you will love reading my books as much as I enjoy writing them.
This is all six books in the series put together, so it took me a while to read it. I was completely immersed in the town of Blissville by the end and now I realized there is a whole side series focused on other couples - so, I'll be done with the whole thing around the time that we are able to leave our houses again..... you know, like never....
Feeling like you've turned into a dirty, fat, garbage-rat-hermit? I got you, babe! Me too!
But, at least final's week is almost over, right? So.... you know, just going back to reading non-educational books in my pj's instead of learning stuff. It's.....almost different.
I'll have you know that I used to leave my house - maskless - occasionally. I'm too much of a joy to be around to deprive the general public. (*shut up, husband! I am too. Other people have said so! No, I am not going to give you names.*)
So, this book is set in a small town in Ohio, and let me tell you that I greatly admire, while also sympathize with, those who actually live in snow. Like, you do realize there are other places where we get to be warm all year, right? I mean, you're not crazy are you? I'm not sure I believe you. You must have snow-brain.
with a margarita!
The two heroes are Josh and Gabe. Josh owns a hair salon and Gabe is a cop. They know each other a bit, but Gabe had a boyfriend when he came to town and wasn't available. They come together when a murder happens to one of Josh's clients and then Gabe has one of those embarrassing moments when he thinks he says something behind Josh's back but he was standing right behind him. Yeah, I think everyone has done this once in life - or been the one making the shut-up-face at the talker when you see the person behind them.
Hey, I didn't see ya there, buddy. So... how are you?
Since things got off on the wrong foot - like really the wrong foot, there is a lot of obstacles for them to overcome. The angst is a little more than I usually like, but I still stuck with it. I'm strong like that. (*shut up, husband! I am too strong! Everyone thinks so... No, I'm not giving you names! What's with you needing names for everything? Go build a shelf or something. Sheesh!*)
That's right. I'm crushing it over here!
The romance was cute and then became a LOT schmaltzy and OTT in later books. Really, by the end I was vomiting rainbows. But, the best part of this series is how it includes side characters that are fleshed-out and capable of holding up to their own books. Which I'm reading now.
I would recommend this series to those who are dedicated male-male romance readers. Not really a starter series for those who aren't, IMO.
Mi reseña de toda parte de la serie está en el primer libro, pero no profundizo mucho porque sinó no pasa de dos estrellas y por ser benevolente le puse tres a casi todos, aunque en general no se la merecen.
TBF I did put the book down and then forget to read it for like... EVER.
Once I got myself into though, it was pretty hard to put down.
My fav out of the series was Dyed and Gone to Heaven, least favorite has to be a four-way tie between Fatal Reaction, Dyeing to be Loved and Ride or Dye. The first two because Josh is so horrible to Gabe for the entirety of those books and the last one because it just felt so rushed.
I will say there's a whole Blissville series, and there are some stories in there I'd like to read... only because it'll make the later books make more sense... I hope. Cause I clearly missed things not reading though books.
But other then that this was super cute and steamy.
Okay, so I didn't actually get all the way through these. I liked the first one, but they kind of went downhill from there (in terms of tension), though I did find the mysteries themselves intriguing. But the tension between the MCs began to wane a bit, and I just don't like reading books that are all plot and no characterization (or the other way around).
I lost interest after number 3. Maybe I'll finish the rest later ... maybe I won't. ;)
A fun and progressively more involved, and more interesting series!
“The heart needs what the heart needs.” Sometimes you just want, or need, a feel-good, enjoyable read that’s not to cerebral, intellectual or complicated, but still interesting and entertaining. This series, which I stumbled upon by accident, turned out to be just what I needed.
I will definitely be going to the author page to check out other books by Aimee Nicole Walker!
I have all these individual stories but I am a sucker for bundles as well. What can I say that I haven’t already said before about these books?!?! I love Josh and Gabe’s journey! It’s rough in the beginning but seeing these guys fall in love and become more secure in their relationship is amazing. I love all the mysteries and the characters are fantastic!!
I have read all the books in this series (many times!). These are some of my favorite characters. I love how Gabe and Josh's relationship progresses in each book. By the end of the series, they feel like friends and when I need a smile and a happy ending to a story, I reread these awesome books.
Josh and Gabe are one of my favorite couples and a revisit to them was long overdue. If you’ve never read this series, you may want to read the individual books so you can read in the correct order with the other couples.
So, I read this last year sometime but forgot to review... Not sure how that happened, but I have definitely read all of them. I don't remember my rating so I'm going to give it 4 stars (that's the average for my ratings for this author) and it mark it as read in September 2020.
How marvellous to have this whole funny, snarky, loving and exciting series all together so I was able to binge read them. Memorable characters and stories.
If you enjoy a good mystery set in a small town with lots of entertaining folks then you will love this series. I do hope there is at least one more book.
I love sassy, snarky characters. Throw in a bit of mystery, and I'm hooked.
The characters were enjoyable, the writing was good, the mysteries were interesting, and I enjoyed reading the series. (Although, honestly, too many sex scenes for me.)
A nice, little series for those looking for a fairly lightweight read.
