Parlez-vous français? Oui, mon frère!

Shelley Admont is a successful mom and a successful creator of children’s books that are both for entertainment and lessons for behavior for children. Her books are published in many languages so her art and her messages are comfortably global! In this new book she has wisely engaged illustrator Sonal Goyal who provides wonderful images for Shelley’s story. In this version of the book Shelley, with the aid of translator Sophie Troff, provides a fine English/French bilingual version that is a fine way to introduce children to another language while enjoying the story.

Jimmy the little bunny is back and with his brothers sits beside the river in the autumn afternoon, loving the fact that everything around him was in his favorite color – orange! He and his brothers admire and play with the autumn leaves – floating them down the river, making big piles of leaves to jump on – until the sky darkens and rain is coming. They run home, but not before Jimmy gathers the colorful autumn leaves for his mother. At home, with the cold autumn outside, the family cooks apple pie, reads books, and finally are off to bed – a happy family doing things together!

In this well-written and colorfully illustrated book Shelley Admont once again proves she knows how to tell a good story while at the same time teaching important lessons, and languages, for children.

Cute and also educational! (Not just for kids....)

Seriously, this is a children's book - but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and seeing how much of the Italian I could understand before I looked at the English. I'm going to read more of these for sure!
