Back in the 70's a group of Art Institute of Chicago students formed a group called the Harry Who. This group of artists became known by the art world as the Chicago Imagists.

Jim Nutt was one of those artists. Inspired by cartoons and other media, Nutt's works incorporate text and raw figurative images. I love this book of paintings. Nutt produced these recently (relatively), and are much different from his earlier works. They're dark, rich portraits each titled with a single word.

My favorite is Lamp. Check it out.
