I highly recommend this book. It has action, faith, and most of all an AMAZING storyline. I really felt for Alena, because I too have similar problems. I am glad her sweetheart kept his proffession. Sherwin was really good at what he does. Alena is proof, because he helped her so much.  Sherwin I 💚LOVE how much he appreciated Angularem, especially how he made a bigger better infirmary. He and Alena really were a good match. I was just as anxious for their scenes together as much as I was with Ryce and Teagan.  I really💚LOVED that Ryce and Teagan were in this. I really💚LOVED their story probably more than this one. I also💚LOVED that they were back on the island. It still reminds me of what Avalon would of been like. This book does not disappoint, however, now I really want to read the next book 😂

Rachel James tactifully uses language common to the 7th century Celts and Saxons in a very easy to read manner. This sequel stand alone and kept me reading to the end. I became enamored by this gutsy princess from the first page. Embedded in the fast paced action is a sweet and pure romance, a great combo for a plot!

The second in a series of medieval tales, Rachel James’s stories have continued to unfold with enough detail and richness to take the reader back fifteen hundred years. Knights, kings, betrayal, spies, a baby religion and courtly romance adds up to a fine tale that will enchant those who enjoy some shiny armor with their everyday castle living.

With the loss of her husband, commoner Alena, married into the royal family and mother of the prince, is ill-treated by her father-in-law. When danger in the form of an invasion looms, she is tasked with marrying again to forge an alliance with a nearby kingdom, as well as find and delivery any kind of valuable information…if she wants to see her son again. The couriers are none other than heroes from the first book in the series, the now-married Ryce, and his friend Sherwin, former physician held to blame for the King Niall’s loss of wife in childbirth.

Poor Sherwin finds his soulmate, a woman not only on a mission that involves marriage to another, but also one who does not share his faith.

Old friends pop up once the group reaches Niall’s kingdom of Angularem. There, Alena realizes her true purpose in life, if only she wasn’t in such a dubious unwanted position as a member of royalty. At the price of her son’s life and future, Alena and Sherwin must act in truth and dignity.
Told from multiple viewpoints, James’s story is for those who enjoy inspirational fiction with an ageless message of faith and truth.

Princess Alena, the widow of the prince who was once heir to the thrown of Meigen, must leave her young son and to journey to an arranged marriage in another land. Two of the knights of Angularem have come to escort her to King Niall, her betrothed.

Her cruel father-in-law, Conall, who sent her into the marital contract, holds her young son captive. To distance her mind from her own tragedy, Alena finds herself enchanted by the use of herbs and potions of Sherwin one of her escorts and even more so, captivated by the man himself.

Sherwin discovers his feelings for her as well, but she belongs to his King and he must not betray him. While Niall himself struggles with the situation of marrying someone he doesn’t love, his kingdom comes under siege. Sherwin and Alena are forced to fight for what they believe is right.

Ms. James paints a beautiful story with her words transporting the reader back to 626 AD. The language used and the information she has undoubtable researched makes the story real and believable. This is the second book I’ve read by Ms. James and hopefully there will be more to follow.

'The Last Princess' was a sweet, tale geared towards a young adult audience. It could also appeal to adults looking for a quick, undemanding read.

This book g many of the characters from the author's first book 'The Forgotten Princess of Elmetia' they complement each other well- with the lead character, Princess Alena, finding love with one of the lead characters from the last book.

There was certainly enough action and intrigue to keep the reader interested, even if the characters could be a little bit one-dimensional. Still, Alena was an interesting character, struggling with her place in the world and the demands of society. I found very interesting the references to herbalism, and the various uses of herbal remedies- but I am sort of nerdy in that way.
Perhaps the romance was a little on the cliched side at times, and there were a few historical inaccuracies, but generally a good, clean read.

I recieved a copy of this book from the author for review. I was not required to write a positive one and all opinions expressed are my own.

Princess Alana is cruelly separated from her young son by her father-in-law and to divert her pain she becomes fascinated by the herbs ointments used in the Infirmary where she encounters Sherwin. Sherwin struggles over his feelings for Alana, after all she is betrothed to the King and he’s a mere Knight. Not only that but he’d also failed to prevent the death of King Niall’s previous wife. How could he look the king in the face or attend to Alana’s health when they had embraced? Alana believes denial is the best option and he reluctantly acquiesces. However, he agrees to take her on as his assistant to write up the medical notes as he does his rounds and finally Alana feels useful. Their relationship deepens but neither wish to dishonour the King, despite his reasons for marrying, especially when the kingdom comes under siege. Another enjoyable story from Ms James.

I won this book in a giveaway, and I must say that this book has many strengths but some weaknesses as well. The author does a wonderful job at creating characters and her overall plot is fantastic. I found myself being drawn into the story line and eager to know what would happen next. However, the writing lacked detail. I felt it rushed through many events and it was a little choppy. The character relationships lacked as well and I found myself feeling no emotional connection with them. One more thing that was too much was the main character had to be saved at least ten times by the end of the book. I understand two or three times, but ten times was a bit much. Even though this book has these weaknesses, it does have many strengths as well to counter those such as the ones I mentioned previously. The plot and creation of the characters' personalities were very wonderfully done.

The Lost Princess of Meigen hooked me on the very first page! After reading the first book in this series, I couldn’t wait to dive into the second. It did not disappoint. I loved getting reacquainted with characters from the first book and when Sherwin re-appeared, I couldn’t stop smiling. Princess Alena is a wonderful character as well. She is a widow looking for a safe haven to raise her son, but finds herself having to choose between safety and true love. Her transformation during the story is inspiring. I stayed up until the early morning hours reading this epic tale that is filled with faith, romance, action and suspense. It’s a clear 5 stars for me and I can’t wait to read more by this author.
