This comic by award-winning graphic novelist Sonny Liew and Hsu Li Yang from National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health answers questions and dispels the myths and misconceptions about antibiotics.
Can antibiotics be used to treat the common cold? How much antibiotics should we be taking?
In this easy-to-read book, Liew and Hsu break down the complexity of the medication, effects of overusage and its adaptation in the farming industry.
Nice simple introduction to the topic. The comic itself is extremely short (I would have liked a bit more substance here, especially for the dystopian future theme), but there's more detail in the notes for those who want it.
Very educative- Good for kids with some futuristic elements to attract the attention of the reader when touching on this not-so-interesting topic. Good job, enjoyed it and recommended it to peeps who seldom read to rekindle their lost reading passion.
The Antibiotic Tales is an accessible, cute and educational graphic novel that highlights the widespread over-dependence we have on antibiotics which is alarming because it portends a reduction in antibiotic efficacy in the future. Read it for the knowledge from Hsu Li Yang and the engaging illustrations by Sonny Liew!
Not sure why Liew decided on this topic, although admittedly it’s a cause for concern. Very thin on comics also; it was more like reading a science brochure.
