This collection contains the first three books in the Underworld series: Level Up or Die, Through the Belly of the Beast, and Sanctuary, all of which are sold separately.
Elorion has just finished a VR gaming session to find a monster waiting for him. With nineteen other students who have also been kidnapped, he is now subject to the whims of a thousand-year-old succubus and must survive deep under the earth in the lost realm of the Underworld. Gifted with the ability to use magic and advance in power, he is given an ultimatum. Level up or die...
These 3 books are fantastic. There is a huge amount of stat crunchiness, but done in a way that’s compelling to read and doesn’t make the story drag endlessly. The overarching story is awesome, and the characters all have real depth.
I'm glad that i finally had a chance to start this series. Excellent world-building and characters, written by a great author and professionally edited: what more can you ask for.?
Started off interesting but 1/2 way through 2nd book it got too tedious
Started off ok. A group of gamers was kidnapped by a high level sucubuich should have seen the minion destroyed for disobeying. Demons are after all not known for their forgiving nature.) The story also got bogged downs to use as a mana siphon. They ran a training dungeon to start leveling up. Then their land was invaded by a rival, who was defeated. However one of the sucubus' lieutenants decided to disobey orders and seek to consume them, so they fled. (Thats poor management by a demon whose commands were blatently ignored by her subordinate. That should never happen as none should dare to disobey, after all, demons are not known for their forgiving natures.) The story then got boogged down in describing stats, assigning XP, HP etc. Eventually the MC and one scout fought off like-a million high level adversaries by themselves, before the wind mage finally came to their rescue in the eleventh hour. Blah, blah, blah!
Mistakes: There are still mistakes scattered throughout the set.
Plot: Decent and interesting story with some very fast levels.
Characters: I like them, but I don’t find them realistic. I just don’t think they would be that concerned about nudity. Nor do I think they would be so tight nit group wise. I don’t know about the rest of you, but teenagers around here are jerks and hop beds faster than rabbits.
Book 1 and 2 are great even after reading then a couple times. The shape-shifting in book 3 was okay but he didn't use werewolf much. I didn't like the new crafting the MC starts in book 3.
