Prey
Mila is out to rescue her sister before the stone-shifter who holds her captive, Lord Zarblu, can sacrifice her. Only this isn't a stab 'em in the heart sacrifice but a sexual orgy one, death isn't guaranteed it's more of a risky side effect of being impaled on an enormous stone-shifter phallus. Mila is nothing if not determined, and sneaky to boot. She never lets life, an ancient parasitic infection or the Andurian's get her down. And the fact that she falls madly in lust with an ancient and almost immortal being, one made of stone and twice her size, just adds to the fun.
This is a steamy and down right naughty read that dabbles on the edge of consent, with it's lust inducing basht and manipulation of Mila. The sister, Tiana, turns out to be a real piece of work. If Zarblu carries through on his promise of gifting his sneaky and slightly untrustworthy cyborg assassin, Ledderik, with both genetalia AND Tiana, then she will definitely get her just desserts (and a lot more to boot).
Steel
A cyborg with a massive, multi-faceted appendage, a literally horny half orc-half shag in rut and a princess torn between being a good girl and following her heart. OK, perhaps not her heart, it was much more likely her libido she was listening to. Well when you see that as a cast of characters in a Cari Silverwood book only a fool would not be jumping up and down begging for it, *double entendre intended*.
Oh my, this didn't disappoint. We had both the complicated 'romance' between Hoss, Baz and Ember, with all it's dubious consent, pheromones and sneaky programming. We also had political cyber manoeuvrings and underhand manipulations based on prophesies. This isn't your usual 'throw away' shagged-by-the-alien romance. There are hidden depths and convoluted plot twists that take what could otherwise be an alien porn read, and make it into something so much more.
Have I mentioned yet just how much FUN this book is? Every part of the story is underpinned with wit and humour. The musings of each character not only allow us to understand them but also made me snigger like an adolescent.
Blade
This author claims she doesn't intentionally include humour in her books. The sheer fact that one of the supporting characters is a sarcastic, talking sword tells you that his book is going to be great fun.
We first met Ledderik, a cyborg assassin, in Prey , however Blade can easily be read as a stand alone, anything you need to know is included in this book. He has lost his way and signed over his body to the Last Of Life organisation, only he finds a new purpose just as his time runs out. That purpose is Thorn, a genetic disaster waiting to happen. What follows is a kinky adventure involving lots of planets, the borrowing of various alien bodies and a lot of shooting (both of guns AND other things ).
This is just one amazingly fun, very naughty and fast paced read. First and foremost it's a sci-fi adventure, with an actual 'quest' to fulfil, a princess to rescue and I'm sure Smorg mentioned something about a ring. It's a lot more erotic, if not down right smutty, then your traditional science fiction read and you won't hear me complaining about that. I loved how inventive Ledderik could be. Who knew tentacles could be such fun?
I absolutely adored that last chapter, I was totally caught out by that little twist at the end, lol! Do I recommend this book? Only as much as sentient ships and talking swords make great partners. That's a massive yes by the way in case you were wondering
