When four members of one family-owned corporation are kidnapped off the streets in Honolulu, Gavin’s intel says this is a corporate espionage case … but is it?
Not much to like about this case. Too many people are involved … including an old friend of Gavin’s. But, as Gavin digs deeper into the motives of the suspect pool, events get uglier, and bodies start to fall.
Rosaline has no idea how she ended up in this nightmare, but all she cares about is her ailing parents who have been separated from her and her sister. Even when she and her sister are freed, Rosaline finds no sign of their mother or father. Trying to rescue them means deciphering friend from foe …
It comes down to the wire as this close family corporation falls apart, revealing the core of darkness inside … and leaves Gavin and Rosaline struggling to stay safe as enemies work to take out them both.

Gavin works for the government in a dark ops organization nicknamed the Mavericks. The mission sends Gavin to Hawaii to rescue a family that has been kidnapped. The Gavin and his partner arrive to find the the sisters Rosalina and Melinda had escaped from the kidnappers on their own. Finding their parents was not as easy. The trail takes them from the hotel, to the docks to a house outside of the city. Besides finding the parents and making sure they were safe, Gavin wanted to find who was behind the kidnapping and what the motive was. This is Book 11 in the Maverick series and at the end of each book I look forward to the next.

I always like a light easy-to-read page-turner books, and this book definitely one of them, therefore I really like it, considering I devoured it in just a few hours. It was started with kidnapping then everything getting more and more interesting and full of actions since then, yup lots of actions going on here. As for the couple, even though the sparks between Rosaline and Gavin is not as much as I wanted and not as much as the couples in the previous books, I still adore these two, they're just perfect for each other. As for the story, it's kinda predictable to me and some parts got me questioning why and still didn't get the answers, but knowing the suspects got what they're deserve in the end, I felt nothing but satisfaction when the book finished.
Great actions, good story, cute couple, yup definitely a MUST-READ one for a light suspense romance lovers.
Another great Mavericks adventure! Gavin is off to Hawaii, but not for a tropical vacay. He is there, with his teammate Shane, to rescue a family of four - parents and two adult daughters - who have been kidnapped right off the street! Gavin and Shane are Seal Team buddies who have worked together in the past and are good friends as well. Together, they hope to find enough clues to rescue the family before anything nasty happens to anyone and find the culprits who are responsible.
This story gets right into it with Rosalina, the younger sister, being brave enough to get free, along with her older sister, Melinda and together escape their captors. I immediately liked the character of Rosalina and her analytical approach to life, despite a sad and emotionally empty childhood. Because she was the “healthy” one, she was treated as second best or simply ignored as well as the “smart” one who didn’t need parental attention unlike her older sister, Melinda, who was born with a partial leg and needed a prosthetic. Melinda also required her parents’ uninterrupted attention to soothe her need to be the only child that mattered. She is a totally entitled spoiled brat who has always detested her younger sister.
I like that Rosalina is crazy smart and isn’t one to broadcast her abilities. But I feel sorry that she can’t help but feel alone and lonely when she is not working in her lab. Melinda, on the other hand, has never had to do anything to substantiate her place in this family. She has always been looked upon as the one who always “needs” something, attention, care, more attention, from her parents. They always catered to Melinda and didn’t have enough time to pay attention to Rosalina. Early on, you get the impression that Melinda is a selfish, demanding, and immature adult who is used to getting anything she wants. She has always created situations where she commanded all of the attention from their parents leaving Rosalina on her own.
Rosalina’s journey with Gavin as they search for her missing parents is filled with danger, but Rosalina has a good grasp of how or why Gavin and Shane must do the things they do in order to find information on the whereabouts of the older couple. I enjoyed how Rosalina gave her viewpoint to the guys which always came from her analyzing the facts no matter how hurtful the findings may be. I also appreciated Gavin’s acceptance of Rosalina’s ability to separate feelings from facts. He also liked that she does not act like a drama queen whenever things get tense or dangerous. Gavin is a no nonsense kind of guy and doesn’t suffer lies or deceit easily. He tends to operate on a high code of ethics and demands straight forward actions from others.
These two are meant for each other and work very well together in a high stress situation involving the health and well being of her older parents. Rosalina is truly heartsick that her parents have been abused, but she is completely determined to make the abuser pay for their actions. I loved the unconditional love Rosalina has for her parents despite her lonely childhood. A great story and the true meaning behind tough love and the ultimate love of family.
As is usual Gavin doesn't get much time between help with an assignment and getting his own. Lennox is vague as he gives Gavin an envelope with his assignment, and hints at a friend joining him. Shane actually joins him right as he's settling in on the destroyer that is the first leg of his journey. A business man his wife and their two adult daughters have disappeared. Now Gavin and Shane have to find them and figure who and why. When they arrive in Honolulu they are met by Steve Arbrey, Gavin know him from his service but he is also the older daughter, Melinda's fiancé.
In an interesting turn of events, Rosalina and Melinda escape and are able to contact Steve through the gracious use of a man's cell phone. The man and his friend wait with them until Steve arrives with Gavin and Shane. Steve takes Melinda back to the hotel and Rosalina shows Gavin and Shane where they were held before returning to the hotel. Gavin questions her about the family business on the way. Trident was created because Melinda was born without a leg.
Rosalina is much younger and she is considered the product of contraceptive failure, an 'accident'. Although she works for the company she is all about research and development and has no patience for the politics of the other side of the business. She's very intense and in some ways naïve in the ways of the world. Gavin finds her intriguing as she insists on helping while Melinda is being pampered by Steve.
Gavin is furious when Shane returns to the hotel room without having questioned Melinda and he leaves to do just that. The results of that conversation leave him both frustrated and suspicious.
They finally get information on vehicles in the area where they picked up the girls and are going to follow where they lead. Of course Rosalina isn't going to stay behind.
Things start heating up quickly from the moment they are being followed to the end of the book. Each page offers more clues as to what's going on and when everything comes to a head it's truly mind-blowing.
I love the way the relationship between Gavin and Rosalina slowly gathers steam. These two are so very perfect for each other.
Four members of the one family who are owners of a corporation together are kidnapped off the streets and so Maverick Gavin is sent to try and rescue them with an old ex-colleague Bonaparte. The intel all points to corporate espionage but Gavin suspects that is far from the truth although with so many people being involved (including one of his old friends) it's hard to work out who is responsible and why. As Gavin digs deeper events get uglier and bodies start to fall. Rosaline has no idea how she was put in this situation but her prime focus in on her parents who have been separated from her and her older sister. Even when the sisters are freed she can find no sign of her parents and will need to decipher friend from foe in all of the players. It will all come down to the wire as the close family corporation falls apart revealing a core of darkness in the centre of it all which will leave Gavin and Rosaline struggling to stay safe as their enemies work hard to take them both out. Can they get to the bottom of this?
This was a great story that had a lot of drama, twists and turns as they navigated the information as they managed to get further into the story bit by bit. The end of the story when they found out who was behind it all was explosive and definitely very dramatic. On their journey to that, there were a lot of dangers and drama as more and more people were killed by their own side in order to maintain silence. The end character behind it all wasn't such a surprise but certainly, all of the information and so-called justification was. At the end, I was so glad that Gavin had found someone to be happy with. Well written and very enjoyable. Does contain a little sexual content at the end.

Another cracking story in Dale Mayer's Maverick series. The Mavericks are a black opps organization that is made up of elite ex military personnel who want to work to do good without the constraints of the military. Gavin Werkster had assisted ex navy SEAL colleague Lennox on his initiation mission and now it was his turn to lead a mission, another ex colleague Shane was to assist him. Professor Rennert, a scientist and head of the Trident Corporation has two daughters, the eldest one Belinda was born without a leg and since then his company had specialised in the manufacture of high end prosthetics, his younger daughter by ten years, Rosalina was a scientist in her own right and headed her own team within Trident. The professor, his wife and two daughters had been kidnapped, Gavin and Shane were briefed by Steve Arbrey another ex navy colleague of Gavin and who was engaged to the eldest daughter Belinda. As this story unfolds the pace is fast and the action dynamic. Were they being held for ransom ? Was this corporate espionage or was it something more sinister ?..........who wanted them dead ? This fast moving story covers kidnapping, murder, sibling rivalry and of course blossoming romance, the suspect pool is vast and the body count high. A great book that subtly leads into Shane's story, I can't wait to read that.

This is an exciting action packed suspense filled romance story.Gavin just finished a mission backing up Lennox .He pulled up to the house walked around the vehicle an helped Helena out.Helena was the woman Lennox feel for on the last mission. He was happy for his friend but didn't think he's ever have that. When he start up his phone rang Lennox said never mind answering your up to lead the next mission.A family of four were taken off the street in Honolulu. He was to meet someone an they would go to a ship them they would be taken to the next leg of the trip. He said are you going Lennox said he was comps this time when he got to the pair there was Shane. He's served with Shane so they decided info to find out what they could. When Rosalina woke up she wondered where she was she saw her sister. She asked where their parents were her sister said she didn't know.Rosalind wiggled and pulled her arms around to the front she got herself loose then untied her sister an said do what I say we have to get out of here. They were running when Gavin an Shane got them. Her sister insisted going to hotel even though they tried to take her out of it.There are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and you can feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.
Rosalina has grown up feeling completely overshadowed by her older sister Melinda, who was born with a birth defect requiring the use of a prosthetic leg. The ten years between them was a major gap, and Melinda’s cold attitude toward Rosalina extended to emotional manipulation, using her physical condition to usurp all of their parents’ attention. Suddenly, though, while on a stay in Hawaii, the two parents and their daughters are kidnapped by very violent persons unknown to them. Gavin and Shane are dispatched by the Mavericks to find the family and keep them safe. What a roller coaster ride as the daughters are separated from the parents, and Rosalina is able to free both herself and Melinda. While Melinda continues to think only of herself, Rosalina works with Gavin and Shane to find out who is behind the kidnappings and where her parents are still being held. The action left me breathless, and the growing respect that Gavin and Shane have for research scientist Rosalina and her logical, no-nonsense intelligence is heartwarming.

This Maverick series is really interesting, entertaining and difficult to put down. In this story Gavin finds himself on his way to Honolulu with Shane to help. A family planned a trip through Japan and then Hawaii and the dad planned a bit of business on this vacation time. However, someone else planned evil pursuits as well and kidnapped the parents and two adult daughters. Upon arrival in Honolulu, Gavin was surprised to be greeted by Steve, whom he had worked with in the past. Steve is the older daughter's fiance and was able to update them further about family dynamics etc. on the way to the hotel. So the mystery becomes more of a problem as Rosalina escapes her bonds and frees her older sister Melinda. However the parents are nowhere to be found. Rosalina explains more of the family's history and the search continues. Very interesting history and the chase is perfect. By the time the story was finished I think I suspected everyone at one point or another. Very well done as always. The epilogue talks of Shane finding his new assignment including a hostage situation and a friend as well. Can't wait!
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was an interesting book for the most part. Gavin and Shane head to Hawaii. A family of four were kidnapped on their way back to their hotel from dinner. When Gavin and Shane land in Hawaii, (they took helicopters between navy ships), they are met by Steve who is engaged with the oldest daughter. Steve is also a friend of Gavin's
Rosalina wakes up in a windowless room with her sister, Melinda. Melinda is gagged but Rosalina is not. Rosalina is able to get out of her bindings and free her sister. They were able to escape from the location and call for help. Steve arrives with Gavin and Shane. Steve takes Melinda back to the hotel while Gavin and Shane meet and interview Rosalina. The questions of who, what and why along with where are the parents need to be answered to discover the plot and the reasoning behind the kidnapping.
The book is written in a dual POV format. This is my preferred format as I can connect with the characters and understand them and relate to them better.
There was a sexy scene in this book so I would not be able to recommend this to anyone under the age of 18.
Gavin is hardly home before he is off to rescue a family that has been kidnapped. Gavin isn't sure if the kidnapping relates to the family prosthetic business or to a more personal one. One of the sisters, Rosalina, manages to escape with her sister Melinda. Gavin discovers that the two sisters are very different, but both sisters remember very little about their kidnapping. Rosalina is brilliant and heads up the research department while Melinda heads up the marketing. Since Melinda needed a prosthetic, Melinda's parents doted on her and spoiled her while Rosalina is very independent. Rosalina is concerned about her missing parents and refuses to be left behind as they search for clues. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I like how Rosalina is focused and a plain speaker. There is an interesting dynamic between the sisters which adds to the story. I also like how Gavin appreciates Rosalina for who she is. The suspense builds in this book to create a terrific romantic suspense mystery.

Dale Mayer’s newest addition to her Mavericks series begins with the kidnapping of Rosalina, her sister and her parents. This happens while they are in Hawaii attending a family meeting. Since no one has heard anything, people are very concerned about the fate of these family members.
Gavin, one of the Mavericks, has been assigned to find the family, and turn the kidnappers in to the police. Unfortunately for him and Rosalina and her family, there are no clues to help them. However, Rosalina manages to escape and works with Gavin to help him find her parents.
Fortunately for the reader, this exciting plot is unique and very complex. It is a page-turner with lots of excitement, danger, action and suspense. Ms. Mayer takes the readers on so many twists and turns that heads will be spinning.
I read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down.
I can’t believe we are on book 11 already in the great series. This had so much action in it from chapter one that I wasn’t sure I could keep up. By my goodness I had to read it through I one sitting so I could read what happened next. And wow.
Gavin is next for his mission and it’s a family who have been kidnapped in Hawaii that requires his assistance. Paired with his mate Shane, they start to track where the crime started. Rosalina and her sister have escaped the room where they were tied and is found by Gavin and Shane. As the investigation goes on, bodies stack up and all is not what it seems. An unlikely person is the reason the family was kidnapped in some misguided greed. Will Gavin find the bad guys before it’s all over???? I was totally shocked to see who the alleged masterminds were and the reasoning behind it. But wow again. And excellent read and now I am itching for Shane’s book.
Gavin by Dale Mayer The Mavericks Series Book Eleven Gavin had just finished his first job with the Mavericks...and Lennox...and now it’s his turn to head up a mission. A family of four was kidnapped in Hawaii. His partner on this mission is Trent. They still have to work fast to find the older couple and their two adult daughters with not much to go on.
Rosalina loves her work in the lab as a scientist at her parents’ company. Her sister is ten years older than her, and they’d never been close. But now, after being kidnapped and separated from their parents, they’ll need to work together to escape and then find their folks.
The list of who could be behind this kidnapping is relatively long. Wealthy people are always targets. Gavin has his suspicions, but he has to keep an open mind. A fast-paced, page-turning story as they seemed to be thwarted on every path. **Sexual content and language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...

When Gavin heads out to Hawaii to find a kidnapped family, he doesn’t expect to find the intelligent, no holds barred woman, Rosalina, one of the kidnapped women. Rosalina was kidnapped with her parents and her older sister and ends up escaping with her sister and now she is on the hunt for her parents. The family is not really close, but Rosalina will do anything to bring back her parents and as they uncover the clues and whereabouts of her parents, it seems someone close may be the one behind it all. A good read with some steam, suspense, betrayals, lies, secrets, some action and good characters. I liked Gavin and Rosalina, the no drama and respect they have for each other. I would have liked a bit more on what happened to the bad guys and how it all unfolds in her family after all is unveiled. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Gavin has been sent on a mission to rescue a family who have been abducted. When he arrives, he finds out that his task has changed as Rosalina and her sister Melinda have managed to gain their freedom however since they were separated their parents haven’t been so fortunate.
Since she was a child Rosalina has always had to be the strong one in the family and this situation is no different. There isn’t anything she won’t do for her family, but she learnt that the only one she can depend on is herself and is determined to take an active part in the search and rescue.
Rosalina and Gavin are exactly what the other needs in their lives. She is smart, calm amidst the chaos while he is strong and shows that he can be the one person she can depend on in a time of crisis and they are drawn to each other despite the situation they find themselves in.
Gavin's mission is to find a missing family who has gone missing in Hawaii shortly arriving a couple and their 2 daughtets. Rosalina is a workaholic whonis made gomon a holiday with her family, looking forward to getting to know her sisters kids. Family goes out to dinner and the family is split up the daughters together. Gavin meets up with a bubby completes an interesting trip from mainland to island than meets up another friend who is boyfriend of one of the missing sisters. The sisters escape which leads to Gavin and Rosalina working together to find her parents. A wide ride starts with twist and turns leaving you on edge till the last word. Excitement, page turner a very good story.
Gavin and Rosalina What starts as a vacation in Hawaii end up being anything but that. It became hell on earth. Rosalina and her family are kidnapped. One of the sisters was on a phone call and was heard screaming. The Mavericks are called in and Gavin and Shane arrive at nothing but crossed signals and confusion. Rosalina escapes and gets her sister free as well. Melinda is engaged to a friend of Gavin's and meets them to help with the logistics and to help the team. Everything is not as it seems. it is one false trail and dead bodies after another. This series is fabulous and each one is different and a great read.

I just loved trying to work out who was behind the kidnaping of Rosalina and her family and I was with them all that things didn't add up. It was a different spin with having Steve someone Gavin knows being the fiancé of Rosalina's sister Melinda and he added another layer to what to take as truth. Gavin, Rosalina and Shane make a great team even if Gavin does get a bit too protective, Rosalina holds her own even in the most dire of situation and you can't help but be proud of her. There are plenty of people and reasons for the kidnapping but the longer it goes for the more it becomes clearer of who might be behind it but it boggles the mind as to why!

When all four members of a family are kidnapped, it's hard to pinpoint who is behind the kidnappings and the reason. All of them work for the family business (which has military contracts), and there are also family dynamics to take into consideration. Can the kidnappings be traced to a rival? Or is someone in the family involved?
Even though the two daughters manage to get untied and escape, they have no idea where their parents are being held. And as Gavin, Shane, and Rosalina work to discover answers to their questions, it seems all they get are more questions and suspects. Loved this story and the suspense along the way.
Gavin is the eleventh book in Dale Mayer’s The Mavericks series. Every book is very interesting with different locales all over the world, different problems to be solved. People to be rescued or assisted to get justice. This book was set in Hawaii. Gavin was sent to help rescue a family of four people that had been kidnapped. Gavin was ably assisted by Shane. They made a great team. Gavin was smitten with one of the daughters, Rosalina. Sometimes the villains are easy to spot, sometimes they are hidden until the end. What I have come to enjoy is the variety of plots. Really out of left field. Recommend this series from Book 1, Kerrick.
Gavin is sent to Hawaii to locate and rescue a family of 4 that were kidnapped off the street as they returned to their hotel. When he meets up with fellow Maverick Shane, they are surprised to find the sisters have escaped but no one knows why the kidnapping took place to begin with, where the missing parents are or who is behind the plan. Gavin is to guard Rosalina at all costs. After an uncomfortable start they seem to get along and Rosalina tries to help solve this mystery. Will the answers come soon enough and will they be able to solve everything before it's too late? Lots of action and suspense until the very end, great read!
Wow, this book grabbed my attention from the very first page and kept me hooked until the very last page. Dale Mayer continues to do her magic in creating beautifully written romantic suspense stories & this one is no exception. Ms Mayer tells a compelling story that just begs to be read. With many layers of action, suspense, romance, and twists in the story, she grabs your attention for certain. She also injects fantastic characters and a hot and steamy love story in her tale of mystery. This book had it all. I absolutely loved this book. Can’t wait for more books by this absolute amazing and fantastic author. Happy reading everyone!!
The story started off okay, four kidnapped persons and the Mavericks led this time by Gavin to the rescue. There isn't enough detail, somehow it feels that important facts get lost and, the results in the story being a little disjointed. The conversations Rosalina has with the gunmen pointing guns at her are interesting. The kidnapped parents are eventually found on the property Gavin and Shane were searching yet not by them. The real reason for the kidnapping, is revealed in the final chapter. Having said that the ending seems to be a cliffhanger and leaves one thinking there has to be another instalment, where things are cleared up and clarified. Not a difficult read by no means.
Former Navy Seals are part of an elite organization that doesn't have restrictions like the Navy. They do the same thing but have more leeway to get the job done. Two-man teams get an assignment to rescue victims. Each story lead finds romance/partner.
Interesting story. The stories are more authentic when using their skills to rescue victims.
The men all sound the same, with the same values in life, who want justice for the victims and to make the world a better place to live. There will always be evil people in the world. Their jobs will never end in the fight against evil.
A mystery with surprises. Full out family drama. Its interesting to see the individual take of family members, how they each interpret the way they were treated as they grew up, and how they react to life now. Surround that with kidnapping, our intrepid heroes and its a well done ride. There are good and bad in all walks of life, but it still hurts to see. The icing on the cake is the little snip it that comes out towards the end. I so wanted more detail on whys of that. Thank you Dale Mayer and Booksprout for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
Another fantastic story with the Mavericks. Gavin and Shane are investigating a kidnapping in Hawaii. Where are the parents and what is going on with the daughters. They're like chalk and cheese. There's something suspicious about one of them. Gavin admired the younger sister, her intelligence was impressive and she was determined to help find her parents. Lot's of twists towards the end of this book, it certainly kept me glued to my kindle. Great story and wonderful characters that you'll love or love to hate. Brilliant, I loved it.
I absolutely loved this story. There is intrigue, betrayal, action, suspense, and the perfect dose of romance. Gavin is my favorite Maverick. He's alpha but sweet and caring. Rosaline is the most unique female lead of the series. She has a naivete but is so strong and intelligent that it makes you like her all the more. The kidnapping is full of twists. The ending is perfect. The glimpse into the next book has you anxiously awaiting Shane's story.
