Good read

...with a well thought out plot and characters. Too much intrigue and excitement to be a cozy but it’s clean compared to most thriller novels.

Interesting story of political corruption

While the story is interesting, there's an awkwardness in the dialog with characters beginning every sentence with the other person's name. But, as you get into the story, it is well plotted and intriguing. You get the feeling you're reading an account of what really goes on in Washington D.C.

My favorite bank accountant is on the trail of more bad guys and manages to get into trouble. I love Charles’s writing style. Can’t wait to read the next story; will he and Amanda spend Christmas together?

Retired bank auditor Steve Wilson continues to enjoy retirement as a private consultant, working from his specially-equipped boat. In this installment of the series, new clients in the Washington DC area prompt Steve to move his boat from Florida to Chesapeake Bay, where he gets involved with an interesting case that includes espionage and murder. He also has lots of opportunity to spend time with his lady friend, FBI agent Amanda Smith.

Although the dialogue is a little stiff, the plot is fast-moving and fun. As a person contemplating retirement in a few years, I'm encouraged to read that there can be life after retirement.

I decided to unfollow the author. This is book 2 of his I read. The first was bizarre and sort of plodding but ended up with a great end. This book was just plodding plodding plodding. It is nice to see that real crimes of real significance are thwarted as he describes but it would be easier for all of us if he admitted he is making bullet points look like a structured sentence.

Not the Best...

This was by no means the best book I have ever read. In fact, I almost gave it up several times due to the stilted dialog and the huge amount of extraneous information that added absolutely nothing to the story. I did finally stick it out to the end. The best I can say is that it was "okay." I doubt that I will be reading anymore of Thayer's books.

Not worth your time

Glad I didn't pay for this book. The writing is incredibly stilted, conversations don't flow naturally, and I couldn't get past the first dozen pages.
