George Stevenson is a 10-year old boy who has already become accustomed to the harsh realities of life, as he and his parents struggle through each day. Cast aside by family and judged by society, the Stevensons have only each other to turn to. Sick and tired of school days in his final year of primary, George thinks life couldn't get any worse. Then, one night, he will experience an encounter that will change his life forever. Undergoing a crash course in self-enlightenment, facing up to the wrongs in life and discovering a heartbreaking tragedy, George's life will forever be influenced by the night he was Guided by the Ghosts.
Wonderfully written, and so imaginative. I was surprised at how much I could relate to George and his outlook on the world, especially those bigger questions, and that deep inner sense of doubt.
As a child I often felt like I was on a completely different tangent half the time. Guided By The Ghosts brought a lot of that back to me, but in beautiful ways.
Guided by the Ghosts is well thought out with solid characters. I found the relationship between George and the ghosts intriguing and I found myself hoping for more. Guided by the Ghosts is an all-around enjoyable story and I would recommend it to young readers.
This book shows us the struggles of a young boy as he faces his day. He and his family are faced with the issue that many do today, working parents. I would say this is a well planned book and should be read by all tweens for the purpose of better understanding each other.
