To defeat a demon, one must first become a demon.

Betrayed in this life and in his immortal past, Raijin is determined to escape his otherworldly prison and return to the betrothed he left behind. Hordes of bloodthirsty demons and a corrupted immortal guardian stand ready to stop him. Raijin has always followed the path of self-control, but to emerge victorious, he’ll have to unleash the demon beast within himself.

Back in the mortal world, Koida is searching desperately for the clandestine ritual that will cure her crippled lifeforce. But to overcome her weakness and save the man she loves, she will have to become the very thing she despises.

Enemies new and old watch from the shadows as the warrior artist and the princess battle their way forward... because on the Immortal Path, victory is not always what it first appears.

Demon Beast is the third book in the Path of the Thunderbird series and is perfect for fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Blade of the Immortal, xianxia, xuanhuan, and all styles of martial arts. Demon Beast is written by eden Hudson, enthusiastic but terrible martial arts student and rabid sumo fan. She’s also the best-selling sci-fantasy author of Rogue Dungeon and Jubal Van Zandt.

I am invincible. I am a mutant. I have 3 hearts and was born with no eyes. I had eyes implanted later. I didn't have hands, either, just stumps. When my eyes were implanted they asked if I would like hands as well and I said, "Yes, I'll take those," and pointed with my stump. But sometimes I'm a hellbender peeking out from under a rock. When it rains, I live in a music box.

But I'm also a tattoo addict, coffee junkie, drummer, and aspiring skateboarder. Jesus actually is my homeboy.

Ended a bit suddenly in my opinion, but maybe that's because it said 89% to go but the rest was all ads and acknowledgments.

This series just becomes more exciting with every book and the Demon Beast, book 3 in the series is one of the best as we travel with Raijin and Koida on their separate travels trying to get away from the evil Yoichi, Koida's half-brother and now the Emperor and to find each other again. Raijin had released his ro for safekeeping into Koida's heart centre when he helped her escape her brother now he was travelling in the land of the immortals completely ro-less and facing his many trials alone whilst she travelled with Lysander, Hush, Cold Sun and their two demon beasts, her headstrong horse Pernicious and the ram. They travel far and wide both on land and sea encountering many adventures and difficulties but Koida would not give up on finding her mate once again and returning his ro. In this book we encounter the white fox twins who are such tricksters, the whisperer, the grandfather spirit, the necromancer and his death corpse puppets and so much more. Raijin has been betrayed so many times both in the present life and many lives he lived before and he had never given in to the demon inside of him but now it seems he would have to accept his demon if he ever was to save Koida and she likewise had to become what she never wanted to become to in turn save Raijin! A really great book where love traverses time and space!

Awesome series, not the best in the series but good

This is an awesome series and you definitely should give it a chance. Still this book is definitely not the best of the three. But the story is mostly consistent, fast paced, and light enough that will not intrude in anything bigger.

That been said the last few chapters, when you discover the hero has learned nothing are a mayor let down. I almost dropped it there, but then I remember this autor usually has a point that it will settle in the next installment, so I will wait for the next book in the hopes that this ending has a point.

Do not judge this series for this book alone, go ahead and read it you will definitely want to give the series a chance.

I can't get enough of this series

I've said for every review of this series I've written to date and I'll gladly say it again; the quality of story-craft here is unbelievable. This may very well be my favorite cultivation story to date. Deep, complex characters, the kind of which I haven't seen in some time fill out a rich world illustrated in thoughtful verbal detail. I can't wait to get my hands on the next entry, particularly after the way this one ended.

Usually these books have a decent wrap-up but this one didn’t. Frustrating. Felt like it was spinning the wheels a bit, as they made a lot of noise about things but didn’t actually do much. And that ‘Jesus’ journey’ thing is getting annoying. Yes, we get it, they know not what they do and so on. Koida denying him thrice. Etc.

Slower-Paced, but Still Good

A bit slower-Paced than the first two books, but worth the extra effort to get through it. The book picks up at the end and sets up the next volume with a unexpected cliffhanger.

Excitement and Thrills

Liking this story so much as we enter into the immortal world and we search for ways to destroy the water lilly.
The truth behind the great betrayal is also a nice revelation amd adds to the mystery of how they shall conquer the mortal and immortal worlds.
