The only thing Hendrix is worried about is being a father and handling business. Love was never on the agenda until Kailani. Kailani had been scarred from her last relationship and love was the last thing on her mind, but when Hendrix makes an appearance, she can’t seem to shake, she learns to lower her guard. The two build a bond that seems unbreakable until someone from Kailani’s past threatens to ruin it all.
Royal and Willow have a complicated relationship. The two have been dealing with each other on and off for years. Just when everything seems to be going well, a bomb is dropped, and shakes the table in a way neither of them imagined. What happens when a statement from Royal’s mouth and one secret from Willow threatens to unweave everything the couples built?
Join these four on a journey full of secrets, love, and lies.
I love the idea of this story….Instead of a redesigned cover, an editor should caught these errors. Truthfully, the idea of this story is really a cute one….and I always love stories when children are involved and we get to here from them. But, for me it gets tiresome reading these stories and trying to figure out what’s going on when you are inundated with grammatical errors.
My 2nd read was listening to the audiobook….the narration to me was less than stellar….the female narrator was decent, but the male narrator was awful!
I could always count on Tay to get me out of a reading slump. I really enjoyed this book. Kel and Hendrix were great. I enjoyed how their relationship grew during the book. It did start off rocky but they got it together. Willow and Royal were my absolute favorites! Willow was foul for keeping Royalty away from her father; I understand the reason why, but if you made the decision to keep the man’s child, he definitely has a right to know. Royal got what was coming to him.You have to treat a woman right because when she is fed up, it really isn’t much you could do. He definitely should have handle his business before marrying Willow. Clean your doorstep off Royal. Lol. This was a story of love, trust , new beginnings and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My issues were grammatical errors and I didn’t like how women were they were sleeping with were handled in the book. Why do we have to shame one woman to praise another? Not cool. Also, all these killings happening and not once were the police called? Whew! Crazy. Overall, I was entertaining and can’t wait to read another story by Tae.
This book had me from the first page. I love me some Taylor books she never disappoints me all her books are good. I love me some Kahlani and Hendrix they were made for each other I’m happy that they made it work out their bind was unbreakable. Royal and Willow were to much i knew royalty was his daughter just waiting for willow to speak up I’m glad that willow stood her ground she was not playing with royal. Great book
I have yet to read a book by Tay Mo’nae that wasn’t a banger🔥🔥🔥!!! This was such a bomb story!!!! Kailani, Hendrix, Willow and Royal were a LIVE bunch! Whew Chile!!! They all took me through but I love them all!! 🥰🥰 The only thing I feel like we missed was more of Willows background. We new about everyone else’s family’s but not hers. I didn’t want the story to end it was so good! The drama, the plot twists and the passion were all 👌🏽👌🏽
This book was great! I loved it (as I do with all of your books). Hendrix is definitely bae and I loved his and kailani’s relationship! I really didn’t like royal in the beginning but I’m glad he got it together and him and willow got their HEA!! Great job and congratulations on your first self published book! Proud of you!!
This was a good read from beginning to end. It was not your typical urban hood read. It was more of an urban romance with a little hood in it. I fell in love with the characters. If I had to choose a favorite couple it would be Royal and Willow. They really had a story but it all came full circle in the end. Tay did a great job with this standalone.
Yaaasss, Queen Tay Mo'Nae honey, you did your thang with this one! Whew child, this book wasn't short of drama at all.
Orlando wasn't s**t and got exactly what he deserved.
Julisa had to learn the hard way not to f**k with Hendrix. That girl got what was coming to her for not letting to and moving on. Ashley stumped a mud whole in her🤣.
Debra too, didn't take heed to that warning at the carnival. Almost lost her life cause she couldn't let go😔.
Now after reading the reviews I was expecting Willow to have really done the ultimate no no and screwed one of the homies. Like folks were really c coming at her like she really did Royal hoe ass sooo wrong🙄😒. Now I ain't excusing her keeping children a secret but after the way he came at her and the way he treated her like some random. I can't say I blame her🤷🏽. Let's be real, it community🍆 was person ROYAL ALL DAY EVERYDAY, PERIOD😡🤣. That ninja couldn't do s**t without sticking his🍆 in a bih. That s**t he pulled at the hospital😡😔. I wanted to jump through the damn tablet on his head. That ninja violated in the worst way when he did that.
I loved Mrs. Traci! She held no punches with her sons, especially that dang Royal. When she told Willow how her and their father started out and Royal arched just like his father I was smdh😔. Although Royal was still leaving foul, when his momma encouraged Willow to leave him if she didn't feel like he would do right, that fool for his s**t together with the quickness, lol. I was pissed he was still screwing around on her and was praying she left him. But I want expecting him to wanna get married and then to just go cold turkey and really do right by Willow. I was really proud of him👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Now Willow had a right to have her reservations but I agree, she should've addressed that ish before she said "I Do"🤷🏽. They got it together tho🙌🏾💕.
Hendrix and Kelanie were my favs. They were so much a like and both had been through some things in previous relationships. Things with them just flowed and it was so beautifully organic. Her building a relationship with his son and loving him as if he was hers really made him fall harder💕. That fool made me wanna cut him when he kept Drix from her and ignored her for 2 weeks behind some bs, instead of talking to her like a grown up😡. He got his act together tho and then and their lil family got their HEA💕
Cool stand alone book that follows two couples, Hendrix & Kalani, and Royal and Willow. I liked aspects of the both couples. Royal and Willow had a hidden pregnancy. I'm in the minority but I usually like that trope. Hendrix and Royal are brothers and Kalani and Willow are friends. Of course the brothers are rich and hood royalty. They're feared and get away with murder all the time. The girls aren't hood girls even though they are willing to throw hands. Some aspects of their stories don't make sense. Like how did Willow keep her baby's father a secret from everyone including Kalani? And how were Willow and Royal still having sex raw and they already got a baby? The dudes made a lot of dumb mistakes like bringing your side chick to the hospital when your main having a miscarriage. There was also a third act breakup for Kalani and Hendrix based on a misunderstanding. I personally didn't feel that breakup was true to the couple. It didn't seem like something Hendrix would do without questioning her. Overall this book was a 4. It was good but not without flaws.
Royal really thought he had it made with Willow. He didn't take things seriously until he realized he could possibly lose the one he loved. I liked Hendrix the most and although he was crazy he was a good dude. Now Julisa and Dedra were both dumb and knew better but learned the hard way not to push Hendrix or Royal. Willow put up with way too much from Royal and I was glad she showed him she wouldn't accept just anything from him. Kailani was a hot head but she was not only a good friend but also a better girlfriend. Hendrix pissed me off by assuming but once he got the truth he realized his mistake. I was happier to see how much Royal grew from who he once was. All in all I loved that the love Willow and Kailani had for Royal and Hendrix had them risking it all although they had bumps along the way.
This was so good! Royal was a male thot but he was single and free to do what he wanted. I kept thinking that Willow deserved better but again he was single. His mothers words got to him and she decided that Willow is where he wanted to be. He hurt her but she hurt him too by keeping Royalty a secret. I’m just glad they worked it out.
Kailani and Hendrix were my favorites. Their chemistry from their second meeting was everything. She fell hard and so did he. I loved the way Drix took to her and she to him. Hendrix pissed me off thinking that my girl would ever be on some snake sh*+ with him and Orlando ugly ahh could’ve cleared that up anyway. I’m super happy they made it!
I’m a real life sucker for love so happy endings give me life!!!
I really really enjoyed this book. Hendrix and Kailani were a good couple, I liked the pace of their story. The chemistry, and sex was good. Kailani and Drix relationship was beauty to witness as well. The only thing that I didn't like was the way Kailani filled like a cheap lawn chair when Hendrix came over after assuming the worse. She should've at least went off on him, cause he was totally wrong! Be should've better a lil bit. Royal was a hoe. Willow should've find exactly what his momma said. Left him and started dating. Cause even though she left him he had the nerve to say that he would gives her a divorce if she couldn't trust him. Be acted like he didn't need to earn her trust back! Julisa, Dedra, and Orlando got what was rightfully theirs.
This was not what I expected from first time reading this author and unfortunately it was boring, and fad and nothing exciting in it at all. I must say that Willow and Royal probably were the best drama like couple and it was ok, enough for me to rate it at a 3. While Hendrix nd Kiliani, man they needed something or maybe since they had no drama, at least the off the chart to die for romance and extravaganza from a rich man, sweeping a good girl off her feet, at least type of story. But we got nothing and it was so lame. In any case I don't have more to say but see if I will try another book from this author sometimes later.
This was my first time reading a book by Tay Mo’nae. My first impression is that she is a great storyteller. This is the tale of two couples, Royal and Willow and Kailani and Hendrix. I like that Willow and Kailani were besties and that Royal and Hendrix were brothers, so everyone knew one another. This book was full of secrets, love, lies, and lots of drama. The dynamics between the two couples were complex and kept me engaged throughout the entire book. The twists and turns in their relationships made for a compelling read that I couldn't put down. I can't wait to get my hands on another book by Tay Mo’nae.
This book was great. It helped me not go into a slump after my last read. This is my second read from this author and so far she hasn’t missed.
I love books where the brothers and sisters or friends always get together. It just makes the book more family oriented in my mind and I’m a family oriented person so I love that…I also love the single dad tropes even though in this one I hated the circumstances around the mom…Drix was so funny and loving though
Also both moms were dropping gems in this one and we love some great mothers 🥰🥹
I love when an author gives me a Momma I can love 🥰 Ms Tracey did not and would not play with them sons of hers. (Hendrix and Royal) She did not care about their feelings when it came to her Grand babies. Royal tested her gangsta the most. But, I will say both brothers were definitely redeemable. Falling in love with bad boys is not easy. Kailani and Willow went on a rollercoaster ride to tame the hearts of these brothers. It’s always a scheming ex ready to shake up some shit.
I like how Hendrix and Kailani bumped heads the first time that they met but ended up together, in love, and married with kids. I like how Kailani bonded with Drix and loved him in a motherly way. I was really worried about Royal and Willow for a while with all that they had going on but they forged ahead and got on the right track for Royalty and Empriess.
It was a good book. However, the editing issues were frustrating. I guess good editors are hard to come by. Anyway, I’m glad Kai toned down the attitude for Hendrix. I know a Royal was supposedly in love with Willow but I couldn’t see it for all the cheating that he was doing.
This book was sooooooo amazing! I loved kailani & Hendrix relationship so much! & the was so loved Drix made the story so much better. Everything flowed so naturally for them. As far as Royal i wanted to kick his ass!!!! But you can def see the change in character when he realized Willow was DONE! This was dope. Def can read it again!
Love at first sight is possible, it's the acceptance that's normally hard for one or both of the parties! Royal at least had sense enough to know he wasn't ready to stop being a male whore, but real love will make you change quick! Letting go of the bad always make room for Mr. Right, Kai and Hendrix are perfect examples of that.
This book was definitely a rollercoaster ride. I didn't think Royal was going to ever get his life together. Glad that he turned things around and comitted himself to Willow. Hendrix and Mailing had a love hate relationship at the beginning but I loved watching their relationship blossom into something great
Through all the ups and downs, both couples got their HEA's! Will and Royal had the roughest patch, but once the mind was made up, moves were made to get on the right path. Hendrix and Kai didn't have as many problems, but had to overcome some trust issues. Great story, perfect length. ❤️
Hendrix is something else. He is honest about it though. Kailani breaks that hard exterior down at first sight. Royal & Willow played too many games to love each other the way they do. Luckily no one played with their life by stepping to Willow or too Royal about Willow.
With the exception of those who crossed him, Hendrix was a great guy who had genuine feelings almost immediately for Kailani, except for that one misunderstanding. Royal, on the other hand, put poor Willow through the wringer. Ms. Traci should have spanked him more as a child. Thanks, Tae Monae!
I loved these two couples. The storyline was nice and very entertaining. I'm glad they all got their happily ever after. 3 stars due to the multiple errors it at times took away from the story.
I read this book before. It was as good the second time around. I love these brothers Hendrix and Royal. Kalaini and Willow are the two women who finally was able to get these guys to commit.
Why do rude me make us want to risk it all? When will we put more value on how we're treated? Oh, and when will couples learn to ask the source before jumping to conclusions? I love Tay's writing style 😍. Good book, Ma.
This was a great book!!!…I love how the friends stood up for each other and with each other!!!…These parents were definitely making sure these adult children were acting as adults!!!…
You can’t go wrong with Tay!!!! She always gave that heat and every story has that hidden meaning! I loved the job theses brothers had in this story! It is a Must Read we all like a little bad boy in there
