I Rely on Kisses to Clear Survival Games

Rate this book
Cheng Zhi Chu was pulled into an infinite stream of horror games. If he didn’t clear them, he would die.

But can someone tell him why others clear the games using violence and force but his method of clearing the game is by kissing the boss?!

Cheng Zhi Chu: I am a straight man. Even if I kill myself or am killed by monsters, I will not kiss the boss!

Boss: Be good. Kiss me and I’ll let you go.

—————–

Bai Yi had been trapped in the game for many years.

Rather than exploding in anger in the silence, he had turned crazy. And so…….he split himself. His soul was broken into many pieces and each of them became the boss in the games.

But, regardless of how the soul was split, from the beginning to the end there was one thing that didn’t change —–He, likes Cheng Zhi Chu.

Every fragment of his soul was utterly in love with him.

It was also because of this that he and every fragment of his couldn’t stand seeing people other than himself getting close to Cheng Zhi Chu —- Even if the other party used to be a part of himself.

Dark desire gradually surged inside him.

Anyone who gets between him and Cheng Zhi Chu——even if it’s himself —– he would kill them all.

——————–

“The person who you should really kiss……is me.”

This is a horror world instance game theme kind of story. Cheng Zhi Chu was dragged into Infinite Game. A game where each player is dragged into different world instances to solve the mystery of a certain world instance to be able to get out of it.

This has lots of gore and bloody scenes not suitable for young audiences. Zhi Chu can escape an instance as long as he kiss the final boss. In one of the times he was dragged into the game, he met Bai Yi. A seemingly powerful player with lots of mysteries and was able to form friendship with him.

I don't normally read horror themed books/stories. I actually thought I won't finish this and only started reading this out of curiosity. I guess the sole reason that I persevered is because I wanted to know what happened to Bai Yi in real life.

The 'great reveal' was underwhelming and I was a bit disappointed. The plot is very chaotic for me. Bai Yi is too possessive of Zhi Chu and sometimes it irritates me. The extra chapters are soooo unnecessary. I like the fact that it still ended in a HEA for them. I don't like any of the other Bai Yi's.

This also has a system theme on it. And among the many 'systems' I have encountered, this is the only one that irritated me this much. It is VERY UNRELIABLE. You're better off doing things on your own than relying on it.

TW: gore, bloody scenes, child abuse

To be honest, this is an interesting story, game which overlap with reality.
It has a prideful-snarky system, two cute game items, and every arch of this story were a tragic-horor story which will make readers' heart broke into pieces.

The downside for me is the romance.
ML, is a grudgeful, jealous, obsessed, stalker. He will kill everyone who shows ever the slightest hint of interest to MC.
MC, is slow, and his feeling easily swayed if people shows kindness and warmth to him. He reminds me of female character in shoujo manga who has no specialty but every male characters falls for her.
So, whats exactly which made ML so obsessed with him?*shrugs*
Also I am not fond of harem romance :)

I haven't done a horror type QT novel before so that was kind of fun and I had a lot of moments of "what the actual fuck is going on here?" both in the positive and negative but I feel like either the author set the bar too high for themselves and didn't want to actually keep going with it or the book wrapped up in a jarringly quick fashion. I did think it was interesting that Bai Yi's issues never got fully resolved but I was taken a little aback by how suddenly the story seemed to race to it's conclusion. I think because there was such a high count of boss photos that Cheng Zhi Chu had to collect, I had expected him to have to go through more instances, and perhaps it would've been easier for me to accept the way the story did go if there had been some hint earlier on. Spoilers for a better explanation of what I mean.

Also, I kind of felt like the extras hindered my feelings on the story more than helped it. Yes, it wrapped up one of the dangling plot threads of the main story, but it just felt extremely perfunctory. Hard to feel the raise in tension for the situation when it was clear just how easily CZC was going to breeze through it.

Overall, refreshing to read something I hadn't tried yet but the "what the everloving crap is going on with Bai Yi" mystery was the only thing that actually kept me reading the story.

TW: creeeeeeeeepy, creepy stalking behavior on the ML's part. No, not just his crazy soul fragments, pre-soul shattering Bai Yi had some pretty creepy stalking tendencies, too, coupled with the age difference was a bit skeevy. Also nearly some tentacle porn in the extras.

Rating: 3/5- So this is kind of a good story and there’s many things to like about it, but there’s also a lot to dislike.

I liked the instances, I thought they were really thought provoking and some were quite dark and interesting. The overarching plot was also quite novel, so I liked that as well although I don’t really agree with the execution and ending of the plot, as it was rushed. I also really liked Bai Xi Xing and Pinecone- they were really sweet. Other than those things the rest of the book is really mediocre and has a very underwhelming end.

I didn’t enjoy the MC all that much. I felt that he was inconsistent, too timid and sometimes messed up the flow of the story. At some points it appears like he’s intelligent and can show character growth but then he just regresses to silly behaviour that I really didn’t know how to feel about. I love cute, loveable MCs, but in a horror setting they should show some backbone and wit.

The relationship with the MC and ML is very disjointed and you’ve gotta wait until the last few chapters for a confession to take place. It wasn’t an enjoyable wait for because I didn’t enjoy the couple’s dynamic with one assuming the other hates gays... etc. Those are just tropes that should stop. Overall I don’t think there’s a valuable romance element in the story- but this is solely my opinion.

There wasn’t enough fleshing out of the soul fragments and the system has such a small role and the MC hardly ever makes use of the system- which I found awkward. Many things could have just been solved if the MC asked.

Overall the story is underwhelming but it’s not the worst of its kind. The feeling I had when reading this was a mild sense of irritation. It had a lot of potential with such dark instances but overtime it just felt like it could have remained a good horror because the disjointed romance lets it down.

Fun, and pretty funny. Writing felt a little amateur often, or maybe it was the translation(?) Still, I really liked this.

This is the funniest story I’ve ever read, as well as one of the most gruesome and one of the few horror stories that had moments that made me intimidated. The romance is also very sweet. 10/10 horror, romance, comedy.

The horror was great. Some parts of it honestly had me a little unsettled, which is the point of horror so yay! Woohoo! But the story itself is heavily filled with information on the horror games which overshines at times the larger plot, and even the experiences of the games themselves. This isn't to say that the instances weren't interesting, but it wouldnt hurt to put that same effort into the characters' development. The ending was extremely rushed, and I mean EXTREMELY. For a story that includes so many details regarding gore and background knowledge, it lacked any satisfying descriptions towards the finale pertaining to cheng zhi chu and bai yi (the main characters). There was no development apart from them becoming a couple, and none of the other background characters were ever revisited (in a way that furthers the plot, lol) - in fact, some were completely discarded near the end(RIP Bai yi's cousin character growth).

Honestly, the story wasn't even that bad at first, not the GREATEST, still far from the worst either. However, the lack of character growth, the lengthy explanations for the instances' background info (which was so irrelevant considering none of it was actually real 😭), and the shitty ending really ruined the story :((

Also edit, someone said that they didn't see why Bai Yi liked the MC, and I agree. The story never touched on why Bai Yi was obsessed with MC apart from the fact he was kidnapped. Does he have a prince charming complex or something? Or was it because MC was very empathetic and kind (which is weird bc MC isnt the only, and farthest from the most, sweet guy in the story)?? I know it's supposed to be because Bai Yi would dream of him a lot, but that's it? 😭😭 like why did Bai yi have the ability to dream about someone he never met, what was so different about this person's life that made Bai yi like him??? If Bai Yi fell in love with him simply through watching him exist, why was he so indifferent to literally everyone else?????? It's not like he saw anything extraordinary either, MC was like 9 when they met 💀

I think that's all I have to say :3

It was a quite enjoyable read, it made me laugh a lot! The plot and the different instances Cheng Zhi Chu went through were very entertaining; in my opinion, most of them had a very interesting and intriguing backstory. Overall, I think the novel is good, and the MC is very cute and kind. I loved Bai Yi too, although he’s… insane, I still liked his character a lot. I thought this was going to be a silly little story because of the title and the summary but I was surprised to find actually deep and very upsetting backgrounds for some characters, including both Cheng Zhi Chu and Bai Yi. Gonna miss those excerpts of Bai Yi’s diary at the end of the chapters lol they were so funny.

What I didn't like entirely was the ending. I don't understand why the author had to finish it in such an abrupt way (in my opinion) and resolve the issue left by that ending in 9 extras that could easily have been used to show much more of Cheng Zhi Chu and Bai Yi's life after completing the game and obtaining all of Bai Yi's soul fragments. It seemed a bit silly to me and it was even stressful to have to go through extras where all Cheng Zhi Chu had to do was kiss six more random men, and even though they're all supposed to be "Bai Yi," it just doesn't feel that way lol. Maybe that's why it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Apart from this, I enjoyed it overall, and it kept me entertained the whole time. I would definitely recommend this for people (like me) who enjoy unlimited flow novels!

It was really fun and easy to read but why did the ending feel so rushed?? I kept thinking "how is this gonna wrap up in a satisfying way with only so little chapters left" and the answer is it won't lol

I also kept getting second lead syndrome with some of the soul fragments - Xie Yuan Huai, my sweet hospital ghost, and of course my baby Su Ling, even Joshua was super charismatic in the last chapters when we got to see him again. why did I like them more than the Bai Yi we're supposed to root for 😭 Bai Yi's diary entries were cute and all but he is kind of bland otherwise, like his only personality trait is liking Zhi Chu lmao I guess that kind of goes for all the soul fragments but at least some of them have an interesting background story that has shaped them as people.

I even got second lead syndrome with non-Bai Yi characters, especially the idol Ji Yun Xiao my sweet boy, I'm sad that we didn't get any kind of closure for him and also for Gu Zhen, who I also kind of liked. I feel like the ending left a lot of questions unanswered and I really think that's a shame, but I still had a good time reading 😊

So much potential for a reverse harem to happen, missed opportunity on the author's part tbh! This was fun to read, there wasn't too much horror in the instances and despite knowing the number of chapters, it still felt like the instances ended a bit too soon? I don't think this is something that I would re-read but overall, it was a fun, fairly quick read and Bai Yi fighting with himself was hilarious!

Summary: For reasons as yet unknown, Cheng Zhi Chu finds himself in a horrifying situation only to realize he's in a horror game with a system in his mind telling him to kiss the villain to get out of the situation. He finds out more details of the game and goes to horror instances and makes a skilled friend named Bai Yi.

Concept? Interesting
Execution? Disappointing

I don't understand homophobic gay books. It's irritating, annoying and even sexist. Although the instances were interesting, I didn't like neither of the two main characters and the main couple has no chemistry (more than a love story, it is a story of obsession and manipulation...).

-MC: he is stupid, naive, and boring, it is incomprehensible why everyone is in love with him. Almost all of his decisions are illogical. Whenever he has to play a role it always consists of too soft and cute characters without personality.

-ML: he is obsessed with the MC... for some incredibly absurd and random reasons. Even though all the bosses are fragments of his soul, he is a boring character with no personality while the bosses were more interesting than him.

The whole story consists of forcing the MC with the ML and as a result their relationship is forced, improbable, and unhealthy.

The only good thing about this book are the horror stories.

100% recomendada.

Suka banget sama ceritanya... Hampir2 mirip game loading tapi versi creepy, horror & gore. Bacanya berasa naik rollercoaster, bikin emosi naik turun. Dibeberapa arc background story boss instance bikin nangis, nasibnya ngenes banget.

This actually exceeded my expectations when I first read it. The writing was so good, HELP, even the plot i thought was so bad UNTIL IT WAS SO GOOD BRO. Wait, wait, let me explain WHY this novel was so scrumptious. Right, so IT SCARED THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF ME. GIRLY DID NOT TELL ME THIS WAS HORROR AND I WAS LAUGHING IN COLD SWEAT, OKAY. TWAS EERIE. 2am fluffy love and butterflies and then BAM. DEAD PEOPLE AND MONSTER FIGHTING. Heart palpitations. Seriously. Ahh. That's what makes a book good anyway. The constant lack of knowledge gifted to you that you will be caught unawares by being jumpscared - by monsters and gross things. The element of surpriise. Spice. Niiiice.

Cute story with a very obsessive dark easily jealous provoked gong (my kind of tea). MC gets pulled in to an app game system and forced to participate in games where if he's not careful can really result in his death. He's tasked with collecting the bosses soul fragments in each game setting. His only skill? A kiss.

There were a lot of cute elements in the story. I loved the different stories we get to read through because of the different visited game settings and learning the mystery behind the soul fragments. The diary entries were a major treat.

A rather cute story that ostensibly has a mystery, which is rather casually solved during the course of the novel. The main focus is how the main character is bent and juggles the interactions with the fragments of his love.

There aren't many surprises during the novel, some of the descriptions are rather gruesome, and everything progresses with a candyfloss sweetness. Some of the side stories are rather sweet.

The online translation of this book is done very well and reads smoothly.

I think I might have my own insensitivity to blame for not finding this horror as scary, but yes, somewhat of anticipation with a little chill with ghost-related description. I felt like I'm barely remembering self-preservation but I'm finding this book a a little fluffy and humorous. It's just a a nice break from all the angst dog blood reality-based drama, don't get me wrong it's still a dog blood drama in different way.

This is the cutest thing I have read in a while. Loved the main couple and I was actually very interested in the yandere side of the ML. All the fragments... Well... Most of the fragments were adorable (if u ignore the deaths of many people) and I wish the book was longer. I want to know more about the other fragments.

I loved this unlimited flow danmei. The characters are to die for, I love how light hearted it is and the character's love story development is just chef's kiss. I recommend this to people who wants a taste of horror but likes it to have a more fluffy air.

Really liked it. I laughed a lot, and the scary scenes were pretty cool.

My least favorite arc was the extra Fairy Tales, didn´t really like those BY´s personalities.
