Vincent Maddox is the bane of my existence.

The cocky jerk with the God complex has made it his mission to make my life miserable since the day I moved to Chicago.

New job. New town. New start.

That is until my long-distance boyfriend decided to break up with me...via text.

Heart break can make you do stupid things. In my case, it made me drink way too much whiskey and hook up with my a-hole arch nemesis.

Vince Maddox is the bane of my existence...or is he?

Bravo Q.B. Tyler because this book was genuinely awesome. We are familiar with many enemy to lover romances, but Bittersweet Love nailed it. Both Vincent Maddox and Lauren Michaels took their distaste to a whole new level and their verbal abuse was top notch!

"It’s a shame God made Satan so perfect."

Both Vincent and Lauren are colleagues who genuinely despise each other. Throw in a little competitiveness, and these two were combustible. Where Vincent is vulgar and crass, Lauren is more the equipped to deal with his arrogance and rudeness.

"We taking these shots or no?" He holds up his glass.

"I’m not toasting with you over anything except your resignation. Or them firing you. I’m not picky."

Being dumped via text will bring out the crazy in most and Lauren was no exception. Well this is the reasoning behind these two sharing a drink or three and having the best hate sex of their lives. But this doesn't change things, does it?

“I hate you.”

“Well, then hate fuck me.” His lips form a crooked grin and I can feel my defenses lowering quickly.

“We said one time,” I combat, but my efforts are weak.

And when these two get paired together on a work assignment, maybe there is more to each of them than dislike.

I really enjoyed this story and did I mention this book is filthy? Great banter, badass characters, effortless writing and hot sex scenes; you want to read this especially if you've never tried this author.

"Don’t tell me you’re weird about feet when you were literally sucking my balls while I had my tongue in your ass last night,” he whispers."

4 STARS!
"Come home with me."
Tons of FUN!

Lauren Michaels and Vince Maddox are workplace rivals . . . enemies, if you will. But below the surface seethes a seriously hot attraction. The stars finally align and bring these two together.

If you're looking for an easy, low-angst enemies-to-lovers with fabulous banter, look no further.
"I don't hate you, Michaels. I'm actually quite fond of parts of you."
I really loved the snarky, humorous tone to the writing.
"It's a shame God made Satan so perfect."
I had a smile on my face the whole time Lauren and Vince lobbed insults back and forth.
"Who would have thought the Ice Queen had feelings?"
And the sex was HOT! I definitely recommend and I'm excited to read more by this author. Enjoy!

Loved this short novella. First time I ve read something by this author but certainly won't be my last.

Good writing style, fun and deliciously sexy and no unnecessary drama.
Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this book deliver it perfectly.

Lauren and Vince are perfect together.Their arguments and back and forth and battles of wits put a smile on my face the entire time reading.

“Watch your mouth, Michaels.” He pulls my hair again.
“The mouth wrapped around your dick right now? You should watch yours unless you want to feel my teeth, Maddox.” I grit out and his cock twitches in response. “Oh really?”

Lauren is dumped by her boyfriend and in a moment of drunkenness and lust has a night stand with handsome Vince, a one time deal between them. Vince is stubborn and moody and arogant and Lauren is a spitfire and stubborn as well but they soo attract eachother and have intense chemistry.
When they are assigned to a story together , thing start to change and from enemies they become frenemies and lovers and finally the love of each other life.

Ohhh!! and I am Pisces like Lauren and I actually find this below to be true 😂😂😂

“Okay, you’ve got strong lines. See this here?
This is your heart line, some people call it your love line, but dierent strokes for dierent readers.” She points at me as she traces the line from the edge of my hand towards my index finger. Yours is long which I could have seen coming because hello, Pisces and also, you seem like a sweet girl. So,
you see, your heart line ends here, right at the Mount of Jupiter which means you have an abundance of love to give but some high expectations.”

It was wonderful!!

A delightful little enemies-to-lovers story with funny banter, some serious chemistry and FILTHY sex. I looved the hero's side of the events at the end, it was so heartwarming and sweet. Have I mentioned already how sweet it was? And filthy?! Yeah.

I’m not just turned on sexually, but mentally.
- the best kind of turned on, obviously.

I won't give you any quotes on filth, read and find our for yourself... But trust me, it was good.

It was also really well written and I loved the characters. The first part of the series wasn't that great (so I've heard) and I'm gonna stay away from it, but I'm definitely reading more by Ms. Tyler! I've already got some promising ones on my list, yaay me.

“I’m not toasting with you over anything except your resignation. Or them firing you. I’m not picky.”

That was. . .nice. Literally, that was my immediate thought when I finished Bittersweet Love . I left this book feeling not overwhelmed or underwhelmed, just whelmed (i'm 100% not using this word correctly, but just go with it).

As I've stated before I've self-proclaimed myself the ✨👑 QUEEN ✨👑 of reading a series out of order (mostly when they're interconnected standalone books). Is it lame to bestow that title on myself? Maybe *cough* YES *cough*. Do I care? NOPE. Anyway I picked up BITTERSWEET not realizing that it was the third book in a series, but when I did realize I just didn't care.

Anyway I'm giving you guys all this lame backstory to say, take my opinion with a grain of salt. I'm sure if I had read this series from beginning to end I would've gotten more enjoyment out of it. As it stands I thought BITTERSWEET was nice, but I was left expecting / wanting a bit more from it.

What Worked?

♥️ The chemistry between Lauren + Vince! ♥️ While there were a few things about BITTERSWEET that didn't work for me the chemistry / connection between Vince and Lauren was not one of those things. In fact I'd say that all 3.5 stars are for Vince and Lauren. These two just had amazing "I hate you, I love you" chemistry. Their competitive banter was wonderful and I loved how they could both dish it out and take it.

“If you do not get the fuck out of my face in the next two and a half seconds, we will be spending the rest of the day in HR [. . .]”

And while they do get together rather quickly they were still explosive when they did jump each others bones.

“I’ve almost broken my dick off thinking about you riding my cock as your fucking tits bounce. And what your smart-ass mouth would feel like wrapped around my cock. I want you, Lauren Michaels, but in no way, shape, or form am I in love with you.”

Ultimately I have zero complaints about these two as a couple (or as separate characters). If anything I would've loved for this book to have been longer so that the build up to their relationship could've been longer.

What Didn't Work For Me?

😅 Well. . .the sex. . . 😅 Okay this is a weird one, but yeah. . .I went into this book expecting a quick dirty enemies-to-lovers office romance. What I got. . . was not that . Usually I'm not one to complain about amount of sex or the way the sex is done in books. except for My Darling Arrow, i will drag the sex scenes in this book any day of the week! Honestly the main reason I read romance books is for the romance, and I view the sexy scenes as the cherry on top / the fun added bonus (i be ✨cLaSsY✨ like that *sarcasm heavily implied*). However if the book is going to have a hero say things like this -

“So…frenemies with benefits?” I let the words come out slowly, allowing myself to mull over each word. “We can’t fuck at the office.” He snorts as a mischievous grin finds his face. “Yeah, we’ll see."

I'm going to have expectations. To be blunt, I'm going to be expecting there to be desk fucking. Yet there. . .wasn't?? LIKE WHAT? Instead they started and then they were interrupted by a phone call (the heroine's ex called and she picked up). Now I was expecting the heroine to pull a "i'm gonna have sex anyway while simultaneously talking on the phone" move (i'm still undecided if this is sexy or just weird, thoughts in the comments please). Instead she has an awkwardly tense convo with him and then the chapter / scene ends shortly afterwards. Suffice it to say I was disappointed. I was promised hot office sex, and dammit, I was looking forward to said hot office sex!

Okay I may be getting slightly overdramatic, but I know at least one person who reads this review will feel my struggle. *le sigh*

❗️ Overall Thoughts! ❗️

This was a quick fun read that I didn't hate. It didn't blow me away, but for being such a quick read BITTERSWEET did a great job serving me a hell of a enemies-to-lovers romance. Those 3 stars are for Vince and Lauren, and the .5 stars are for the fortune teller.

“You drive me crazy, Lauren Michaels.” His eyes are sincere and his long lashes make them seem even brighter in the shower. “But I’m fucking crazy about you.”

Lauren Michaels is sweet, sassy and sexy. (clever too, I didn't want to ruin the tripple S's 😛) She moves to Chicago for 6 months on a better job opportunity. She gets dumped via text by her boyfriend, Andrew.

Vincent Maddox is a delicious man. He comes out brutally honest and his sarcastic comments might make you want to hit him.

Lauren and Vincent are journalists and co-workers. Both of them are rivals from the beginning, it's always heated arguments with them. When Vincent stumbles across a drunken Lauren moping on her break up, they argue and sparks fly. Both of them decide one-night stand. One night-stand leads to many times hot sex, psychic revelations and jealous ex to happily ever after.

Vincent and Lauren are so hot together. Their sarcastic banter when forced to work together was my favourite part. Vincent appear cocky in most parts of the book, we see a different side of him after Scarlett Stone.

This short novella is super entertaining! It's an office room, enemies to lovers romance. I found the story flawless and simple. Those sarcastic pokes and sexy scenes are my highlighting part. And my zodiac sign is Pieces, lucky me this book turned out the best. 😃 I definitely recommend this!

Well, hell-oooooo Mr. Maddox!! 😍

I dare you to show me something better than a hot, dirty-talking man who loves going down on his lady. I certainly can't think of a better thing.

This is a super hot enemies-to-lovers story with a little rebound action thrown in. I can't express how much I love Vincent Maddox. I'd fight a bitch for this guy. The way he teased Lauren both in and out of the bedroom was so swoony. He's confident in everything he does without being an asshole, and takes what he wants without being demanding. I think I'm in love...

The story is really short, but packs a nice little plot in there along with some heavenly steam. I loved it, and I'll definitely read more by this author. I'd read 10 books in a row about Vince any day, day-um.

Bittersweet Love is the second book in the 'Written in The Stars' series by Q.B. Tyler.

This book is an office romance with an enemies to lovers trope.

"It’s a shame God made Satan so perfect."

Lauren and Vincent are colleagues and they hate each other. Vincent has liked Lauren since the moment he saw her, but she had a boyfriend which was why he couldn't make a move. When Lauren's boyfriend breaks up with her via text, she is heartbroken and drowning in her sorrows.

"We taking these shots or no?" He holds up his glass.

"I’m not toasting with you over anything except your resignation. Or them firing you. I’m not picky."

I loved these two together. Their witty banter and sizzling chemistry was off the charts hot. If you're looking for a small, light and fun read, you should pick this book up.

Binge Reading,
xo.

Who would have thought the Ice Queen had feelings?

Tags: ENEMIES TO LOVERS, archnemesis + psychical attraction

Vincent Maddox: blue eyes blonde hair, Scorpio♏; ambitious, gentle but cocky, confident, clever, hard-working
Lauren Michaels: dark hair, green eyes, Pisces♓; feisty, sassy, ambitious, hard-working, cool, and amazing lol (described as Meaghan Markle look-alike)

Both late 20s, archnemesis co-workers

“I was thinking more of a friends with benefits situation.”
“We aren’t friends,”
I correct and he huffs in response.
“Fine, enemies with benefits. Is that better?”
...
“So…frenemies with benefits?”

FOOTNOTES

* There I thought I didn’t like heavy dirty talkers (I think there’s a really thin line with the talking, for example, in this story it didn’t irritate me) And Vincent is a total babe; who can resist him? I let him talk whatever…

* I am loving it so much when I know my MCs zodiac signs.

* Loved both of the characters + They totally have a chemistry + gorgeous couple

* Vincent loves going down – again, why would anyone want to resist him?

* I am a bit sad about not having at least one office-sex. I was really waiting for that!

* The dialogues + inner monolgues + the chemistry made the book so so good.

God, if you’re up there, please just make sure Emma stays asleep. I look down at the man feasting between my thighs and let out a quiet moan.  God is not listening right now.

OVERALL

This is a short, fast, and smexy read. It is so fun and entertaining. (It even includes a few times that gave me angst but only for a second.) I loved it.

“Our fighting was the best foreplay I’ve ever had.”
...
“So…we are doing this? You and me? How’s it going to be with us working together?”
I grab her face, bringing her lips to mine. “Simple. We fight at work and fuck at home.”

Thank you so much for the recommendation Isabella R.💚

Enemies-to-Lovers? Check!
Office Romance? Check!
Very, VERY good writing? Check!
A five-star read? Yes, yes, and yes!!!

I. WANT. MORE.!!! Really, i really loved this story even though it was a novella so it wasn't as long as i would have wanted (125 pages). The problem with novellas is that everything is very rushed. The good thing with this amazing author is that her writing was so good that there is an actual plot with everything that we expect in a full-length book with the office, enemies-to-lovers, romance trope! And she nailed it!!! Vince and Lauren work together but their feelings towards one another are less than cordial! After Lauren gets dumped by her then-boyfriend, she spends one drunken night with Vince! So, how will a morning after look like? When the effects of alcohol wave off and Lauren goes back to hating Vince?
Everything i love with those two tropes were there: banter, push-and-pull, some jealousy and possessiveness, VERY hot and steamy sexy moments, two dirty-talking characters (dirty-talking Vince...WOW!), and the feels!!!
My only problem with this story is that because i liked it so much, it ended too soon! I really wanted to get a full-length story so that my five stars could so easily turn into ten stars!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

a criminally underrated QB book!!!! forgive me for not reading it sooner! got the chance to listen to the ALC for the rerelease audio and it delivered.

the fact that this has been out since 2020 just goes to show how talented QB’s writing is. because her writing voice is always consistent and it’s fresh, it feels like she just wrote this now!

we have frenemies with benefits…work place rivals! but naturally he is obsessed with her for farrrrr longer than she realized. boy obsessed we love to see it!!

it’s so hard to write a novella that is the perfect balance between plot, spice, and emotions - QB crushed it with this one!!

First off, the narration is brilliant, and the narrators embody the characters so well. It’s a fantastic audiobook, so I highly recommend it. This is a shorter read, and I’m gutted because the fiery tension and electrifying chemistry left me wanting more. I love the enemies-to-lovers and enemies-with-benefits dynamic—I was screaming! I need more of these two!

Vincent is arrogant, egotistical, and flirty, with a commanding side in the bedroom that was absolutely delicious. Lauren’s fiery, stubborn nature was something I thoroughly enjoyed. Together, these two ignite incredible tension.

This story is more character-driven than plot-driven, as it leans toward the shorter side. Once again, Q.B. Tyler delivers spice that sends me feral. I’m loving her work at the moment!

Not QB tyler's best. In fact, one of her worst, actually.

Audiobook wasn't great either, both narrators had zero chemistry and the male narrator voiced the mmc like he either didn't want to be there or was very confused about what book/character he was voicing...

The lack of chemistry between the characters, though is the downfall of this book.

Zero tension for a so called office rivals to lovers trope... one of my favorite tropes, mind you!

I loooove QB, well, except for that one book she wrote where the mmc cheated on the fmc lol (remove that book from my brain please... in fact, i wish i could catch that amnesia trope that book had so i could never be tainted by reading that book lol. Cheating is a no no.)

This book had no cheating, but it's a runner up to being QB's worst book lol cause these 2 weirdos have zero chemistry... like none... I'm dying 🤣 😭

There is nothing like a hate/love journey that puts sparks in a story. Bittersweet Love had all kinds of spark and I loved it. This is a short(ish)/novella story that had just the right amount of sexy and fun in the mix. I enjoyed it so much, I didn’t really want it to end. I like this author’s style and voice and look forward to reading more books by her.

Okay I finished this in two sittings, and I had for force myself to go to bed because I didn’t want to stop.

-workplace
-rivals to rivals with benefits to frenemies to lovers
-she gets dumped and he becomes her date to her bffs wedding
-“fight at work, fuck at home”
-spice from the first few chapters

The audio for this was fabulous, I was sent the ALC and I devoured it.
This was my first book by this author and I have already added 3 more to my TBR!

Listen. I am absolutely convinced that there's NOTHING Q.B. Tyler can't write! Call me head over heels, obsessed, captivated.....enthralled! Whatever! I can't get enough of her books!!

I was soooo excited when I heard Lauren (from Bittersweet Surrender) was getting a novella! I instantly loved her and couldn't wait to catch up with her and HOLY SEXY.....she and Vincent do not disappoint!

If you like an enemies to lovers or fake boyfriend turns real boyfriend vibes with super hot steamy scenes and amazing banter, this is for you!

I laughed! I blushed! I screamed (at fucking Drew for being a jerk) but most of all I wished that there was more! I could read about these two forever! Also, although you don't have to read the Bittersweet Duet to enjoy this if you have you will loooove the scenes we get with Charley and Hot doc, Will! Gah! They're one of my most favorite fictional characters ever!

I can't wait for your next story Q.B. Keep em coming!

Q.B. Tyler is a new to me author and now I’m wondering why its taken me so long to read one of her books! Bittersweet Love sucked me in from the very start and I devoured this story.

I LOVED Lauren and Vincent. These two had banter for days. They could both give as good as they could get and that is what made me love them so much. There was so much chemistry just waiting to explode and when they finally give into it. Phew, it was amazing!

Bittersweet Love is hands down on the best enemies to lovers romances I have read in a while and I can’t wait to go back and read more from Q.B. Tyler after this little taste!

A MUST READ if you love a great enemies to lovers romance full of insanely hot chemistry and amazing banter.

Bittersweet Love was the last QB book I needed to read to be caught up on all of her books, so when I saw this got a rerelease (new cover, new details in the story, and an audiobook), well I obviously had to jump in! And this one did not disappoint…it’s a spicy novella, frenemies with benefits, office romance.

This was so fun! New job, new town, new start for Lauren when her long distance boyfriend ends up breaking up with her via text. She heads to the bar and ends up spending a hot night with her jerk of a coworker, Vincent. He’s supposed to be the bane of her existence, but maybe he’s not? They also have to work on a newspaper assignment together and realize while working on the story that they’re less enemies than they thought…

We get lots of arguments and witty, hate banter back and forth between these 2 which I loved! QB usually delivers on taboo, but this one is definitely tame and not taboo. But best believe it’s spicy and delicious. It was fun seeing them go from enemies to frenemies with benefits to more!

The audio narration was so good, highly recommend QB’s audiobooks! The duet narration by Maggie Thompson and Austin Stone definitely delivered. I received an audio ALC, all thoughts in this review are my own. The newly updated version is coming Dec 2, 2024!

this was a fun, fast, spicy read for fans of qb's books. i had read the first in the bittersweet series, and then this book, and i think i will go back and read book 2 now also.

vince is lauren's work rival, the guy she loves to hate, and after her her long distance boyfriend breaks up with her over text, a quick hate f*ck with her rival seems like a great idea. but once isnt enough for these two and soon things go from casual to committed.

only a few more books to read and i will have read her entire back catalogue!!!

This one is scorching hot and laugh out loud funny. Vince and Lauren's story starts of with a bad break-up and a drunken and steamy night. It is a sweet and sexy read filled with enjoyable characters and a well developed plot. Add a palmreader and a drunken ex and you got everything you ever wanted from this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
