WayMaker Bible Study Guide plus Streaming Video: Finding the Way to the Life You’ve Always Dreamed Of

Rate this book

How do you find a way when there is no way? How do you keep hoping for the life you have always hoped for? Because sometimes, you just need the waters to part—so you don't lose part of you.

In The WayMaker, author Ann Voskamp encourages us to hold on to our hope in the WayMaker who carves paths and opens doors in the most breathtaking, miraculous, sorely-needed ways. In this video Bible study (DVD/digital downloads sold separately), Ann weaves the story of Moses and the Israelites on the road to the Red Sea with her own unlikely story of adopting a little girl from China and a refugee family from Syria. Ann shows how the Red Sea Road is traveled just one step at a time—by dipping our toes into the impossible.

Just as Moses was full of doubt facing the wall of water, Ann questions how she will ever find a way to bring home a baby girl with half a heart. We often fear that the miracles our hearts beat for won't happen—but grace is the miracle that always happens. When you only see a rising wall of waves, Hope sees a way, finds a way, makes a way.

As the Israelites learned, God sometimes calls us to wait in the wilderness in order to do a deeper work in us. And in the sacrament of waiting, we discover that more than a way through, what we hope for most is a road right into the heart of the WayMaker himself.

Designed for use with The WayMaker Video Study (sold separately).

Videos + Study Guide

I enjoyed having a short study in the summer when I have more time to reflect, learn and think. I enjoy Ann’s quiet way of teaching. Learning about how God is always making the way through, even when I am not always aware, is always a good reminder and helps keep me steady. Stillness is a word I had already been using in the last few months as I quieted my life, so this study is an encouragement to continue in this practice. Gratitude and thanksgiving daily opens up my life to Praise God and to live with more joy and intentionality, even during the hardest seasons. Using the word, SACRED helps me remember the points in the study.

I was so pleased to be invited to participate in the initial launch of this study. I was able to stream each video as it was released and participate in weekly Q&A. There was also a group of us from the Private Facebook Group that met weekly via ZOOM to discuss what we were learning.

This is the second Ann Voskamp study that I have participated in. The first, The Greatest Gift: Unwrapping the Full Love Story of Christmas was in December 2020.

From the first page I was blown away! There are sections that I have already re-read multiple times because of the impact they have on me.

Did not finish. I'm either in the wrong season of my life for this, or I don't identify with anything she wants us to "work on" while doing this study. Filling out the questions felt forced to me, so I found myself just writing something down to fill in the blanks rather than getting out of the study what she intended.

Deep study. Will need lots of time to work on this. I took longer than suggested.

This book gives interesting thoughts as it teaches about the Way Maker. The insights that was discussed were magnificent. My mind was open to so many marvelous ways of God that I would have never imagined. With language I never knew before and now I know the meaning. The author shared how the Way Maker is a way maker in all our lives. I am delighted to read this book and learned so many more interesting facts about God. As I listened to the new things that I was learning, it is true that God is "The Great I Am." I am reading this book again and again, so that I get more delightful insights from the Way Maker. A good read!

Came across the audio version on Everand and thought it was the actual book lol.
Solid and helpful teaching. She often mentions Bible passages, but I thought there were too few actual references. Can't say I'm a big fan of her style of speaking. It feels too affected and borderline manipulative, kinda like a self-help guru, but I have very strong feelings about delivery and may be overly sensitive towards anything that strikes me as disingenuous.
There were plenty of encouraging insights and I'm looking forward getting the full teaching in the actual book.
