Living the high life ain’t easy, but being drunk on love is worse.
To say Deluxe Moore hasn’t had an easy life would be a huge understatement. Her main complication? LaCross Paul, the walking temptation determined to make her his. From the streets to the sheets, Luxe learns that Black Friday was never about shopping, and if Cross has his way, she’ll be asking for a repeat performance by Cyber Monday.
Special Note: If you enjoyed Claimed By Crayson (To Marry a Madden), you’ll enjoy these High Life short stories.
USA Today Bestselling Author Sherelle Green crafts brutal worlds where lust and danger collide. Known for her addictive, high-stakes mafia romances, she’s built an entire dark empire through her books—a place where ruthless antiheroes and complex heroines navigate twisted loyalties, betrayal, and forbidden passion.
With a deep fascination for the darker corners of love, she dives into themes of power, lust, vulnerability, and redemption, blending suspense and sensuality to keep readers on the edge of their seats.
From intricate family sagas and compelling love affairs, to thought-provoking fiction and romantic crime thrillers, her novels touch on how experiences & environment impact the way her beautifully flawed and relatable protagonists view life and love.
Wow! Short, spicy and sizzling! Deluxe and LaCross, (absolutely loved their names), were married to each other back in the day. But a life of crime and jail time destroyed their relationship. But now they work for the same Cigar Bar and realize that that push and pull desire is still there. Can Luxe and Cross forget about all the past, stupid mistakes they made and start all over again?
***Re-read 2/27/2023: Just as good as the last time!
Alright now let’s talk about grown folks love, unfinished business and chemistry that never clocked out. Black Friday is a slick little reminder that love doesn’t always disappear just because paperwork gets signed. Sometimes it just goes quiet, waits and watches.
It was so good catching up with Crayson and Jordyn and seeing them solid and thriving but Luxe and Cross were the real pull here. This was second chance love done right. Divorced, co-parenting well, still orbiting each other like gravity never loosened its grip. Whatever broke them the first time was loud enough to cause distance but not loud enough to kill the love. That connection was still alive, still magnetic, still showing up in stolen looks and dreams that refused to fade.
Timing and communication were the villains the first go round. Luxe and Cross didn’t fall out of love; they fell out of sync. What they really needed wasn’t drama or blame, just honesty without armor. 😏 apparently brunch and a boldly requested 🍆 appointment was the catalyst for finally putting everything on the table. Once the emotions were stripped down and the truth was spoken, it was clear the love never left. It just needed space to breathe.
I loved that this wasn’t about jumping back into marriage out of nostalgia. They chose to date again. To be intentional. To actually try, with open eyes and grown understanding. Black Friday proves that sometimes the best deal isn’t the one you rush for, it’s the one you come back to when you finally acknowledge its worth.

Deluxe Moore (Luxe) is determined to leave her past behind her. However, there is one part of her past that she just can’t seem to let go of. That's her sexy ex-husband LaCross Paul (Cross). Luxe and Cross fell in love in middle school, both succumbed to the streets, went to prison and are now taking steps to leave the life of crime behind them. With such deep history between them, a healthy marriage became hard to maintain. Anger, hurt and resentment took over their lives.
I really enjoyed this quick second chance story with Luxe and Cross. This couples chemistry is off the charts. They couldn’t keep their hands off of each other. It was obvious they still loved each other. It just was hard for them to communicate that to each other due to their past. Kuddos to the author for writing a romance between two people rebuilding their lives after being released from prison. The author was able to convey both characters becoming productive citizens in society.
For the most part, this short story was deeply layered and I couldnt put it down. But I felt the ending left much to be desired. It was too vague for me. There were so many unanswered questions that I needed answers too. Did our couple make it? Are they communicating better? Did Luxe get pregnant? Inquiring minds need to know! I really need a full novel with this couple.
I must say I am enjoying the different flavors from this author. In this short story Sherelle Green gives us an opportunity to catch up with Crayson and Jordyn. Now that they have their businesses up and running, we meet some of the staff. Yes, Crayson is still crazy and Jordyn is still rocking her HH. It seems the couple has a soft spot for second chances as they hired within the neighborhood.
Luxe and Cross has a checkered pass, while being caught up in the street life, they managed to fall in love, marry and become a family. The same life that brought them together is the very same to separate them, at least on paper. The hearts of these two refuses to separate.
I really enjoyed getting to know Luxe and Cross as they journey to a second chance at love.
Great read and recommend for your reading pleasure.
Cross and Luxe is one hot couple! I was surprised when I found out their connection was just more than working for the same employer - their shared past was heartwarming and tugged at my heart.
Determined to leave their mistakes in the past and move forward, the one thing they could do was leave one another in the past. I absolutely love second-chance romance so I was rooting for them all the way.
It was great to catch up with Crayson and Jordyn and see them still on their grind. Even though this was a short, there were some characters that were introduced I would REALLY like to hear from again...HINT, HINT!
Black Friday is more than just the best deals of the year in this novella. This Black Friday brought together two people that had been in love since their youth. The passion and fire between Luxe and Cross you could feel through the words you read.
It was also good to get an update on Crayson and Jordyn. They both were still living out their career dreams. It made me wish for the next Madden brothers novel.
A short but entertaining read. I would definitely recommend.
Cross and Luxe were two interesting characters. I wasn’t expecting them and it was definitely a treat. There love proved that even when you get in the way your heart will always find its forever home and the supporting cast was a bonus. My book bae Crayson still is the the man😍 This was a nice quick lunch read and definitely has me looking for the next installment to see an update on Luxe and Cross’s relationship progression.
Thank goodness for my literary journals. I read “Claimed By Crayson” in April 2022. Nonetheless, I do recalled the messy Madden’s 🤭…”memories, like the corners of my mind”🤭🤷🏾♀️‼️Meanwhile, “Black Friday: To Marry a Madden” was short, sweet & yet informative. Jordyn & Crayson (community advocates) are mentoring, spreading & extending opportunities around NY even to convicted felons like Luxe & Cross. Admirable 👏🏿👏🏾👏🏽‼️
Who knew Jordyn and Crayson had such colorful people working for them! Luxe and Cross are SO HOT, like you could feel the passion coming off the page! And I would have never guessed they had such a deep history. Like, wow, it was deep layers packed into a few short pages. Their connection was so strong and this book was so enjoyable!
This was a cute second chance story between Deluxe and LaCross. I was surprised that they were married before and was shocked they had a kid. I was glad to hear from Jordan and Crayson again. It was funny and embarrassing they got caught doing the do.😂 Crayson said not here😂😂
Luxe and Cross are a perfect match for each other. I love the way this story told of a love so deep that they wanted each other regardless to being divorced. The chemistry was combustible. Understanding the life they lived and the changes they made for a better life.
I love the Madden brothers & their associates. It’s good to see Luxe & Cross worked out their difference. ❤️conquers all. ❤️needs nurturing, forgiveness, patience & mostly communication. Happy ending for Luxe & Cross? Looking forward to your next reads that we include their story Ms. Green😉
Quick and sexy read about second chance love. Deluxe (Luxe) and LaCross (Cross) young lovers divorced but frequently still have sex finally admitting to still loving each other.
The story was too dang short to be this good. I was just about to get ready to plan their getbacktogether party when the story ended. I'm only complaining because I wasn't ready for it to end yet. A good short story.
Great catching up with Crayson and Jordyn at Sweet Baby Jays and Heavenly Hash! Second chance at love for Cross and Luxe with a dose of their daughter Tori made this an enjoyable read!
Loved the growth of Luxe & Cross.... History between ex lovers can create a second chance. Passion between ex lovers make it inevitable. Great short full of heat that keeps you engaged! Nice spicy read.
OMG this short was everything. Fast paced, but that’s to be expected with a short. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Luxe and Cross. I could easily read 10 more just like this one if the characters are as relatable and interesting as Luxe and Cross.
Luxe and Cross second time Romance. They have so much history together. The love is so real between these two. It's very seldom you come across a love with this sort of staying power. Definitely looking forward to more of this story.
Reading about Lacross (Cross) Paul & Deluxe (Luxe) Moore along with their adorable daughter Tori was too much lije 💘. Breakup to make up... That's what they do!
Luxe and Cross are too cute but I love how they had real issues that some couples deal with on the daily. Glad they were able to find the words to tell the other what was in their hearts.
Luxe and Cross were in the midst of the holiday season. They both had much on their minds and in their hearts. Neither was being completely open and honest about what they were feeling. Short. Simple. Happy holidays.
Maaaaaaan listen! Sherelle Green did the damn thing with this short story. She got me out here trying to find me a Kenyan and learn Swahili! 😘🕵🏾♀️😍🥰🔦🔎
