A Watcher is supposed to keep evil at bay, but what happens when it walks among them?

Soon Dell finds herself missing time and when a fellow Watcher is found murdered, she wonders if she is somehow responsible.

Adeline Grimm is 9 years old when her parents die in a car accident and now she must live with her grandfather, Edward, who is one of the Watchers. He tells her that the most powerful thing in the world is knowledge. Her father, Phillip had wanted her to grow up normal. As the last member of the family, Adeline or Dell, trained from that early age, first with books, then physically to become a Watcher and attend the Watcher Academy. Of which there are seven in the world. Dell studied history, anthropology and archaeology in college and then took a year off. (Funny, I have a degree in history, minored in Anthropology and Sociology and took some archaeology courses, I’ve also studied mythology most of my life and if it is supernatural I read it. I know my monsters, lol). The Academy that she was attending was in Dartmouth campus. To normals, it was just a very eccentric historical society.

I found the history of the Watchers to be enlightening. I really enjoyed Spencer, I found him nerd hot. Lol. Dell does something extremely stupid, she knows better and strange stuff and blackouts happen. I spent half the book yelling at her. Lol. It was like when you watch a movie and you start heckling the character. Lol. Then things just get worse. And worse. Then there are a few more reveals. This book was so awesome! I loved it!.

Dell is starting a new job with a secret organization who takes care of the world's supernatural. Until one night her life changes after she opens a box of artifacts that she wasn't suppose open. Things go from bad to worse when a watcher is found dead. Missing time and bloody knife will send her to get help from a fellow Watcher, Max. Will they be able to get to the bottom of what is going on. Will they be able to get to the bottom and figure out what is going on.
Dell is one of those characters that you will love she is a sweet girl who has wanted to be a watcher since she was a child growing up with her grand father. She is sweet and kind of naive in some ways. I love how she handles her roommate from hell and the boss that dislikes her for some reason. There are so many characters in this book from Chelsea the boss from hell to Max the brooding seasoned vet. They are very well written and trust me you will want to clip a few of them upside head with a frying pan.
This is a fun book to read it is the first book in the series. The author has created such a fun story and the characters are so well written. For a first story it is well thought out and the characters are well developed . I really didn't want it to end and can't wait for the next book to come out . This is a fun fast read so if you want a fun story check it out .

All Dell has ever wanted is to be a Watcher and follow in her Grandfather's footsteps. However,
Dell's experience of college is not for the faint hearted. Add to that a room mate from hell in Brenda and she's got her work cut out for her. Just to make her life more of a challenge, Chelsea, her supervisor seems to have taken a dislike to her.

This is a fantastic first book in a new series. Another great piece of funny, action packed literature from Ms Gregory.

This is my first time reading this author, and after reading this book, it definitely won’t be my last. This was a cute novella, and I enjoyed myself from the beginning to the end. I found Dell to be a little flighty but still lots of fun, and I really liked the universe the author has created. The murder didn’t happen until later in the story, and it was just the icing on her poor cake. The end was so interesting that I can’t wait to see how this is all going to shake out. I love it when I’m surprised like this, and I was definitely surprised. Give this a try; it’s great! Highly recommend!

Very fast paced and well written

More than enough character building and world building in such a short story. Fast paced but not missing a beat on details. I am sad because of the wait for the next book. I'm interested in all the character relationships. I wonder at the trouble Dell will find herself in next.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Dell is finally at the Watcher Academy but a poor decision starts her on a new adventure. She is possessed and then exorcised. However the entity is not gone. A bomb is diverted and the truth about her grandfather revealed. However to find out more, Dell must trust Anunit.

There are big shoes for Adeline (Dell) to fill, her Grandpa Edward was known as one of the best Watchers. Can she keep the family honour, when she does her time at Watcher Academy? Watchers try to keep the world safer by trying to keep dangerous magical artifacts out of the wrong hands. Will Dell survive her training? I enjoyed this interesting story, Dell was easy to like and she certainly has plenty of challenges to keep her going. I look forward to enjoying more tales about her.

Good Start to New Series

This was an interesting storyline. I have already read the first 4 books, and am waiting on book 5 to be announced. Each book has a subplot, and there is also an overarching plotline that has not been resolved as of book 4. I like the heroine, even though she makes occasional imprudent decisions. In book 1 she tries to cover up a dangerous mistake, when she should have asked for help right away. But she grows through the series, which is good because the stakes get higher.
