Sparks fly between a plucky intern and her billionaire boss in this new standalone from a USA TODAY bestseller.
For someone so famous, he sure has a lot of secrets. He's Jack Ward, my billionaire boss, at least for the summer while I support his national book tour. But the funny thing is, the tour doesn't make much sense. The odd cities, the late-night excursions, the secrets simmering between us – they're all making me a little crazy, especially when he gives me one of those looks. You know the kind.
He's up to something. I just know it. And I'd love to find out what. There's just one tiny problem. With his movie star looks and devious mind, he's distracting me to no end. And just maybe, I'm distracting him, too.
But the worst thing? I'm pretty sure I like it.
***Wordless is a fun, full-length standalone romance with a guaranteed happily-ever-after!***
Becka was looking for her sister and instead found mysterious hottie Jack Ward - billionaire author. She'd fangirl over him except his uh, girlfriend? is doing her best to get Becka to leave. But she can't because she needs her sister. The sister who's supposed to be with Flynn at Flynn's home. Speaking of, why isn't Flynn at his home instead of the gorgeous author and his scantily clad girlfriend? And why is Jack insisting on driving Becka to her apartment, then intimidating her roommate? And then insisting on Becka staying with him at Flynn's? And then insisting on her going on his book tour with him as his new assistant/intern?
Wordless is a sweet slow burn romance. I had been hoping for a bit more heat, but generally speaking, I enjoyed it, especially Becka. She's a hoot - funny and smart and she put up with a lot of crap from Jack, who was entirely too bossy and secretive for his own good. As Jack said, she was trouble, but only to his heart, which she certainly won over!

I really enjoyed Jack and Becka. I would have enjoyed it more if I had realized that this was a series and this book in fact was book 2. Technically, it didn't effect my reading, but I would have loved to have known the characters in the first book. My mistake. Jack is my favorite kind of character. He is a broody, private, passionate man, and I loved the mystery around him. Becka was perfect for him because she was his exact opposite and that is what drew him to her. I will probably go back and read the first book in this series.
Becka reminds me of that bff that is always up to try something new You know the one who finds the rainbow 🌈 even when it's dark and stormy. Jack grows on you. 😆 he is anti-social but he has reason. He is honest to a fault and has a heart of gold. Just takes some time to mine it out from under the no nonsense facade Imogen dear goddess she is just 😳 to
This had just the right blend of humor, mystery and fantasy
This was a decent read. It would have been better if it hadn't been so long. Let me begin by saying I wasn't into the whole mysterious act by Jack. It came across as annoying and it would have been better if we got to know things sooner rather than later. However, in the end we finally found everything out and they got their happy ending.
Shrouded in mystery and dosed with adorable, Wordless brings the heat and the sweet.
Becka really impressed me with her attitude. She had an almost brother who is a famous movie star. Instead of mooching, she tries her hardest to stand on her own two feet. But when she meets Jack, she's swept off her feet. Literally. Jack is the epitome of mystery. He is a master of deflecting questions, and sneaking off. Jack tried so hard to stay away emotionally from Becka, but with her many mishaps it wasn't happening. Jack fights but slowly succumbs to Becka's charms.
Loved reading these two. Laughter, mystery, romance, and amazing writing all coming together to create a read that you won’t be able to put down.
Wordless by Sabrina Stark is the story of Jack and Becka. Jack is a famous author who happens to be friends with Becka's sister husband who is a very famous movie star. Becka tries not to take from her brother-in-law so she does things on her own until something goes wrong with her 'roommate' and she comes to him for help but finds Jack instead. Jack ends up stepping up to help her and gives her a job on his book tour. Jack is strongly against emotions especially toward women but Becka has flown under his radar and now he can't get enough of her. Enjoyed their story and hope to read the previous book about Becka's sister.
I give this book a solid 3.5 outta 5 stars. I thought it was a cute slow burn that was super mysterious, but it didn't really stand out to me. I liked the characters but I was not able to connect with them and they left me feeling a bit disjointed while reading it (though that might have been purposeful because of Jack's mysterious ways!).
All in all though if you are looking for a fairly fast, but cute slow burn, Wordless is one that you will enjoy!
PS: Thank you to Sabrina Stark and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review the book honestly.
Biggest impression: chaos. Chaotic little chapters with non-dialogues and constant mess. The male main character is literally incapable of holding a conversation. He has two modes: order people around or refuse answer any questions. Even the simple ones. Even the ones unrelated to his 'big bad secrets'. He is simply incapable of giving a straight simple answer to anything, and has to make you work for it. He also knows better what is better for you, what you should feel, and how should you react to everything. He basically knows better everything in life, and not worry you pretty little head about anything, because he also knows that you are better off not knowing. Because it's his place to decide. In his head he sounds like a 10 year old. In fact, both of them sound like preschoolers arguing every time they talk at each other. Because they don't talk TO each other. Second biggest impression: This book relies awfully much on showing other female characters in most disgusting way to make the main character look better. There are three female side characters (sister doesn't count, as she is the main character of the first book) and they all are exactly the same: bitchy bullying sluts who want her man. Now that I think of it, it actually goes for both genders. This book has only side characters of 2 types: faceless nameless cameos, or the 'contrast group' aka bitchy slutty women and disgusting creepy men. (3 types, if you want to count 'main characters of the previous book'). The book goes in detail, over and over and over again, how disgusting and slutty and idiotic his ex-girlfriend is, but refuses to touch on the point of what it makes him that he dated and slept with her for a considerable amount of time in the first place. It's like he didn't choose her like that in the first place. I really didn't like the writing, because of how chaotic, abrupt, childish, and cliche-filled it is. And I really didn't like the story, because the male character first treats her like a child, and not a clever one, then he wants to have sex with this child while still not having a single coherent conversation with her, then he sends her away (while also blackmailing her), and she, instead of saying 'well, f u then, I'm not going to stand being treated like this' and leaving, she goes where he tells her to, and sits there until he is 'ready'. Really. Happily ever after. Amen.
While the story was okay, the characters were not.
I didn't like most of the dialogue between Jack and Becka at all. Most of Becka's questions were the type any reasonable person would have given the situations. Yet the author seems to imply that she is being to nosy. The author also seems to indicate that most of the things that happen are Becka's fault. But they really were not. In fact, if Jack stepped up and did something or said something were appropriate, the situations wouldn't have happened, or went in the problematic directions they did.
Most of the time, he let people fend for themselves and deal with problems that he created, making things worse. Even when he did step in to help out at the start of the story, he did it in a problematic way that didn't help things.
Also, for someone who doesn't communicate well and sidesteps answers to questions when dealing with fans, he handles it better than any of Becka's reasonable questions. Even short, basic or minimal, answers would have resolved many of the situations. Then, if Becka finally gives up, he starts to harass her to go on, or say more, or ask what she wanted to know, even though he won't answer the questions.
And the author makes it seem like it is all Becka's fault when it really was Jack's fault. This is why I gave this book only 1 stars when I gave the book before it 5 stars (on Amazon, I apparently forgot to copy my review here, where it would have gotten a 4. The ratings on this site are a bit stricter). Jack comes across as a horrible person in a lot of ways, everyone seems to blame Becka, and Becka ends up just accepting the blame. It really made me mad.
This story is about Jack and Becka. Jack is Flynn's friend and Becka is Anna's sister. This book is called Wordless but it's so not true. If you read any books from Sabrina you'll know that she keep you in suspense the whole story until the end, but you will not be disappointed. Jack is a best-selling author but is very secretive. Also he is handsome and brooding. Once Jack open up you will love him. Becka is beautiful, funny, innocent, smart and a little bit of a trouble maker. She was in a situation that she needed help but didn't want to be a burden. Jack and Becka relationship didn't start off on the best foot. Throughout the story you will see their relationship blossom but not without a few bumps. Thus by far is my favorite book from Sabrina. Her writing is done beautifully and the flow is keep you engage. Her words will keep the story interesting and captivating. No errors! Great freaking job again Sabrina Stark 😘 I received this book for an honest review!
Sabrina is great at writing a cute, funny romance and Wordless is hits the mark. It picks up where FHS left off, but you wouldn't really have to read it first. I did, just to be reintroduced to Becka and Jack. Sabrina writes an hysterical mean girl. Every interaction with them stole the show. The entire bit with the clown shirt was great.
Becka and Jack were cute together, we got a lot of slow burn, near misses. They were clearly attracted to each other, but he had a lot going on behind the scenes. And Becka was way to dang nosy to let anything slide.
I would've liked to see more character developmento for our couple. More to find out why Jack was the way he was. More of Becka that wasn't her being nosy. But a fun 4 star romance!
The story of Beka who ends up reluctantly (at first) employed by handsome billionaire author Jake Ward in exchange for college credit and a great pay cheque... From then on out this book is fairly standard romance fiction. If you can manage to put up with the credibly annoying Beka and her incessant QUESTIONS! Ita a slow burn push/pull complete with lots, and I mean LOTS of endless annoying meaningless banter. Case in point: the whole English crumpet back and forth with fans arguing at the small town book signing, when the completely stupid inane Imogen shows up with her fake British accent. This whole scene contributed nothing to the story and appeared to be nothing more than a incident to push the word count along. Then you end up with what I suppose readers would consider a satisfying ending House man, ring everyone happy, happy .,Ho hum
I didn't find this to be a laugh out loud comedy for me, but I enjoy the pace of Stark's stories and the way she crafts her male characters.
In this one, Anna's sister Becka (an utterly forgettable name, sorry!) has a little issue with a new living situation. But Flynn and Anna have flown to locations unknown and Jack is staying at Flynn's house. Already the story gets zany because there's a model in her underwear on the front porch of the mansion. And this is the first chapter.
I didn't love this, but the pacing is right up my alley and there's a HEA, which was just a little too much for me.
The banter between them is hilarious and the storyline kept me entertained. Becka is so entertaining, with all her questions she kept on asking Jack. He is evasive when it comes to answering questions because he is so private and usually he would do his business alone. But he doesn't know why he wanted Becka to be with him on his book tour.
With Becka's super detective talent, she figured everything out and Jack couldn't endanger her life so he send her back to her sister. Even though that was the last thing he wanted.
I wouldn't say this had a very romantic development between Becka and Jack at first. I think its because Jack never really give off the romantic vibe and that's kind of his character. So it was kind of a slow burn I would say.
This was more of a slow burn romance, but I really enjoyed it. I have been reading my way through this author lately. I’ll probably stop when I get to one I don’t like, but I’m not there yet. Safe only on/ow drama is am ex that won’t take a hint. She is following him, but they broke up 6 weeks before the story starts. No virgin, here has history but doesn’t appear to be a manwhore
Ultimately, I’d did enjoy the storyline. However, it is a very slow burn romance and took me longer to connect with these characters. Jack seemed to be more secretive than normal for one of this author’s characters. Sabrina Stark is still a must-read author for me. I received an ARC for an honest review of this book.
A book with a good and interesting idea at first, but a mediocre execution at best. I thought of quiting it many times, but somehow I made it to the end ( don't know why though), still the book did nothing for me.
I don't think I'll be reading anything by this author any time soon, her writing style is just not my cup of tea, sorry to say, but that's just the way it is.
The male lead is a jerk and treated the heroine like a child. He has absolutely no redeemable qualities and I am actually quite upset that the two characters ended up together.
If I have to read the phrase "what does that mean?" one more time I will scream. This book moved to slow. 13 chapters to get the lead character out of her apartment, please. The lead female was in her head to much. I just couldn't take it.
I love Sabrina books that is why I got this one. It was a slow start for me and really didnt want to finish but at the same time because I love her books I finished it. It was a ok book. Will NOT stop me from reading more of her books.
Loved this story, the secrets, the drama, but all the love beat it, the protective side of Jack, he is abit intense but that is part of his charm, i love it,
This was such an amazing story of. Learning about Jack and more about becka. This has been a fun series I'm glad that Sabrina Starks writes such amazing books cause at this point I am pretty sure I've read them all.a thousand times. Excellent reading
I know that it's not great to compare books, but this one just didn't have the same spark as the first book. The secret keeping just irritated me. There wasn't much need and I felt that the female lead lacked a back bone.
What a fun and amazing read. It will definitely keep you on your toes. I loved how Jack tried so hard to stay away from Becka, but in the end he couldn’t. Thank you for another great book Sabrina.
