Family isn’t always blood. Daniel Archer. Alpha bear and only son of one of the four founding families in the friendly town of Seaview, Alaska. His responsibility, his legacy, is to find a wife, have children, settle down and lead the town as mayor. The only problem is, that’s not what he wants, well, not anymore. Not since his bear decided Will was his mate. Will Rivers. A human who knows nothing of shifters and who’s come to Seaview in a last-ditch attempt to save his relationship with his controlling, asshole of a boyfriend. Now Philipe is gone, leaving Will alone to plan a very different future for himself. Alaska is the ‘land of promise’, right? Will and Daniel quickly strike up a strong friendship, unwilling to take it further despite the growing attraction between them. After all, Daniel needs to provide his family with an heir and Will has been burned by falling for straight men before. Then, to the horror of them both, Philipe returns with a proposal, and he won’t take ‘no’ for an answer! Can these two hot men get over the seemingly insurmountable obstacles in their way? Does Will have a future in Alaska or must he return to Boston?

OMG!!! DAT COVER!! Update, I forgot to post my review LOL and I can't remember, don't want to underrate aaaahhhh! Better safe than sorry so 5 stars cuz I remember I didn't get bored.
Will will discover bear secrets while in Seaview, Alaska. Will's plan was a vacation to re-connect with his boyfriend, but Phillipe was not on board with the relationship repair. Will, a travel writer, is then alone to figure out his next move. He makes the most of it by going ahead to research the surroundings. The folks are friendly, and the area is gorgeous. He'll need to figure out a few things, and he gains self-awareness. * our golden bear...
Daniel, a big hunky bear shifter, owns the Inn, and helps Will explore. Daniel has his own conflicts, about his future and his attraction to Will. They become friends, hike, eat, enjoy the hot springs and more. When Daniel comes back from his forest escape, he finds out Will may stay on. Daniel decides to show Will his secret.
We get beautiful descriptions, background information, plus the hot sexiness of Daniel's first times with a man, and discovers something else.
A fascinating tale, lots of great characters, and an absorbing story. Fabulous epilogue! Highly recommended. ENJOY !
I never tire of Noah Harris’s writing and he brings on another wonderful book.
Will Rivers trying everything he can think of to find out why his boyfriend Philipe Battleson has distanced himself and has been rude and cold towards him. So the two decide, together, on a trip to a remote town in Alaska, Seaview to try and rekindle what they once had. Problem was once they got there things didn’t turn out as Will had hoped and Philipe ended up breaking up with Will the next day and went back to Boston.
In the meantime, Will had caught the attention of important people in the town of Seaview by the rude way Philipe had treated Will. The wonderful caring people Will had just met tried to cheer him up. One of those important people was a big beautiful man named Daniel Archer and when they shook hands there was a definite connection between the two. Of course neither knew what it meant.
Daniel had only dated and bedded women in thinking he’d find the “right” one to settle down with. Never happened and anyway Daniel was still a boy at heart, shucked his upcoming responsibilities to be mayor of the town and drank, womanized, and ran away in his shifter form for days.
Will, a traveling journalist, decided to stay on to do some reporting work and thought it would keep his mind off Philipe. Daniel’s friends and family encouraged him to show Will around the town. Daniel was shy around the cute human and asked if Will would like him to show and take him to some special spots the locals went.
This time together, both men found that they would comfortable opened up emotional baggage and enjoyed their time. The story is so adorable with a big, burly man-bear shifter finding out his attraction to Will maybe okay. And maybe he didn’t have to have a wife and four kids to be mayor and carry on the Archer bloodline.
The book has low angst, just enough to keep the story interesting, and lots of growing up and learning about oneself. I loved it! Loved the setting, all the characters are colorful, and the mystery of the towns secret interesting. I would highly recommend reading this wonderful romantic love story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The last part is what I liked the most, truthfully. The worst for me is that being as short as this is, everything is or rushed or depth lacking.
For example, everything about Philipe felt off. I felt he's the excuse character meant to take Will to the little Alaska town where he meets Daniel. He's out in the blink of an eye and then reappears just in the worst moment and that's not even a surprise because the blurb spoils it epically...
Will was an unreal and shallow character for me. He goes traveling to Alaska to fix his broken relationship. He gets over it too easily and not only he decides to stay there alone, he keeps prolonging his stay more and more (and of course, he's a travel journalist, so very suitable right? Too much if you ask me).
The character I liked the most was Daniel, because I enjoyed the sexual struggle he's having. Lucky for me, he doesn't realize (or want to awknowledge) the fact that they are mates until the last part of the story. As it's said in the blurb I was expecting and instalove of his part and he tried to resist himself because he's... Well, straight? Being with a man doesn't fix with the expectations he puts onto himself and fears letting down his family.
But although I enjoyed he's trip into accepting his feelings, I felt his reticence somewhat excessive sometimes.
In all, is a quick read that does the trick of entertaining you. But was not much more for me. The author has far better titles.
Noah's stories are so relatable. Situations, themes, subject matter, the genre doesn't make a difference. The reader can immerse themselves in any story.
Responsibility always comes at a price. And for Daniel his strong sense of duty to Seaview AK may be a misguided one. He has given up on his desire for love, a partner of his desires/dreams; in other words, a family. Sure he's heard of the fables of fated mates but how can one hang on to that hope when magic is the element? This kinda flies out the window when Will arrives. Will is making a valiant effort to salvage his relationship with his boyfriend Philipe, the man he believed is his everything. But Philipe showed his obnoxious true colors within 24 hours after arriving by simply stating that he's bored with their relationship and unceremoniously flies off back to the UK via their home in Boston(what a twit). Now Will must fulfill his travel journal duties on his own and face his own loneliness of being the gay guy who always had to be looking from the outside in for the acceptance he thought he had found with Philipe. But Fate, her infinite wisdom, points the way to each other's desires. Of course nudging is needed from secondary characters but this was satisfactory meddling workable all the way around. Much like Daniel their lives are drawn to each other. And I just have to mention how apropos the cover was for this book; just a perfect depiction of these two. This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC received.
I was very impressed with this shifter story by Noah Harris.
Daniel and Will's story was charming and sweet. Both having issues to overcome, but fighting them to be together. It was definitely worth the read. Another hit by Harris.
Once again, this talented author has written an excellent, heartwarming MM shifter romance that is guaranteed to attract the reader’s attention & keeps it until the end. The plot is well-paced, with some mild anguish & has a wonderful slow-burn romance with great scene descriptions & world building. The well-developed characters (Daniel, a bear shifter) & (a human, Will) developed a splendid friendship with great chemistry between that slowly develops into a romantic love. There is: a male travel writer (Will) is trying to salvage a relationship between his boyfriend (Philipe) & himself but things don’t go accordingly to plans, a alpha bear shifter (Daniel) with responsibilities who is becoming highly attracted to Will, drama, some intrigue, twists & turns, mystery, secrets, memories, disagreements, mild anguish, strange attractions, friendship, expectations, emotional reservations, insecurities, curiosity, confusion, advice, loneliness, discovery, longings, attempted reconciliation, misunderstandings, explanations, declarations, love, mates, contentment, mild steam & a delightful epilogue. I enjoyed reading this shifter romance & would recommend it.
Meh. I thought it would better ? I don't know, I just wasn't wowed by this book I suppose. It irked me that one of the main characters went from one relationship to the next in a span of a week, especially since the first relationship was quite serious. It honestly felt like the other main character was making a mountain out of a molehill. I just had no sympathy for him. Oh and then, THEN this author decided to use one of my most dreaded words ..... "member"
I don't get that. Why use it several times in one chapter, when towards the end, he calls it a "cock"? Was "member" really necessary ??? And lastly, dead giveaways that although the book was based in the U.S., the author is in fact, NOT from the U.S. I really dislike that because honestly, it's lazy, it's sloppy, especially when all you had to do was change THREE words. This was a one and done for me, first and last book by this author.
Will and Phillipe have come to Seaview because Will is trying to repair their relationship. He realises that it is not going to work - and then the controlling Phillipe dumps him and says he is going home to England alone. Will is a travel writer - he loves Seaview and decides to stay on a bit longer. Daniel is an alpha, and the last member of one of the founding families, of his town. He knows that he has a responsibility to become Mayor, settle down with a wife and have children to perpetuate the name. Bu there is something about Will that has him questioning everything in his life. They have become close - and Daniel is feeling things he probably shouldnt. Will these two lonely men figure it out? What will happen when Phillipe decides to come back to Seaview and reconnect with Will?

You have to be willing to fight for your love. Daniel Archer, Alpha bear, sole son of one of founding families in Seaview, AK, is expected to start a family and lead as mayor. His bear decided that Will, human, ignorant of the shifter world is his mate. Will came to Seaview with his boyfriend, Phillip who seems to have detached, distanced himself and become frosty toward Will, to try to slavage their relationshp. Phillip leaves Will and returns to Boston. Will decides to stay and revamp his life. Will and Daniel strike up a friendship. That slowly builds to more. Will is wary of straight men and Daniel is conflicted. Then Phillip returns, wanting to rethink the relationshp. There's more going on than just two men, friends looking at more. Good story! Mr Harris keeps getting better. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

3.5 stars
This story for me was just okay. I liked the fact that Will manages to decide what he really wants in his life, that his break-up doesn't ultimately break him. He was able to focus more on his work and develop a connection to his new town. Daniel thinks of himself as not responsible enough for being mayor of the town, but at the beginning it shows him taking care of the smaller, but still very important, problems of his people. He seems very unaware of exactly how important he is to his town. I thought it was nice that Will and Daniel developed more of a friendship at first before going for a relationship. I think Will was good for Daniel, but I wish we got to see them over more than just a few short weeks.
Can a special town & a man with a big secret heal a broken heart? If Fate has a say, oh yeah!
This is a wonderful, feel- good book. From the first pages, I was grabbed by the characters & the setting; never letting me go. I didn't want to put it down. I loved this book! This book has it all: loyal family, shifters, an arrogant, insufferable ex, misconceptions, and awakenings. The angst is low, the sex is hot- but not the focus of the book, you have to wait for it. You are gonna love this book! This is Daniel & Will's story. Will is a travel writer on vacation in hopes of saving his failing relationship. When he gets dumped on the first day, he is angry and not nearly as upset as he should be. Deciding to turn this into a working trip, he is in need of a guide to show him the hidden wonders of Seaview. Too bad his guide is straight. Enter Daniel, owner of the Inn where Will is staying, and the mayor-to-be. Daniel is a bear shifter who needs to grow- up and settled down. None of the women he's ever been with have awoken his bear. His bear is awake now, and he wants Will! It takes as while, some soul- searching, and determination to bring these two together for a wild night of "firsts". Will's ex showing up will test their relationship. Don't worry, HEA is assured. You will love this book! This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
You'd think Phil could have had his first revelation before they were in Alaska! @$$hat! Phil was a bullet that Will dodged none too soon. I was glad Will found his backbone, eventually! This story just reaffirms that family doesn't have to be blood. Family is the people/place you choose to love. A safe comfortable haven you create for your heart and soul. I liked when Will and Dan decided to explore their possibilities. They were like curious tentative teens. Sweet and hot. The twist was magnificent, and Will came through like a storm trooper! Cute ending. Warm and fuzzy feels. Great holiday heat !
A Supernatural M/M romance with a caustic relationship & breaking free to find true happiness & love
Noah Harris has been writing supernatural Gay romance novels (found in the Kindle app) for years and this is one of his heartfelt best. It's starts with a caustic relationship which one partner trying his best to salvage while the other is manipulative, degrading, selfish and cruel. It's filled with heartbreak, self doubt and feelings of not being worthy of true happiness and love. There's a lot of soul searching, wonderous revelations and most of all love between two people who didn't know or even believe that they deserved the happiness they found in each other.
Bear Secrets by Noah Harris is a shifter mm romance set in Seaview, Alaska. This is a slow burn lovestory where the characters meet and build a sweet and strong friendship while fighting an attraction. Will and Daniel connect and are great together. I love their interactions. The story has drama, humor, and sweet romance. Loved reading about Will and Daniel's journey into love set in such a wonderful town.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest post review and recommendation.
Will sets out on this trip to repair his current relationship. His boyfriend is a terrible person, but Will does not seem to want to face he chose poorly. Daniel loves his town, but the mantel of responsibility feels too heavy. Meeting Will has him rethinking all his preconceived notions. A great story of Will and Daniel getting to know one another and discovering they are both stronger than they think.
A lovely story between Daniel and Will. I give this 4 1/2 stars. It would have been 5 had the epilogue extended further into their relationship. They just got together, the end!. The enjoyment of a book for me is not 99% getting to a HEA and then 1% we made it. The end. I like to bask a while in their togetherness. Too many authors seem to end stories abruptly. Leaving me feeling bereft more often than not. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve written this.
Noah Harris continues to impress. This book is heavy on the emotional character arc, and has a gorgeous setting- a small town in Alaska, where bear shifters have lived for generations. I really liked the main characters, both the town playboy with a difficult past, and the travel writer trying to find himself after a difficult vacation. This was a fun quick read, and the setting hit the right winter notes for me. I recommend this!
For the most part this was sweet if a little boring. Nothing much happened and I didn't feel overly engaged, but it was still enjoyable. The characters spend quite some time in their heads making all kinds of plans which they don't seem to follow through on...oh well. But the end part killed me, it was utterly ridiculous! So very cliche, an obvious misunderstanding and unbelievable overreactions and just as quick and over the top came the reconciliation. Meh.
I want to start by saying, I’m a little unsure about my review. I enjoyed the book, but I don’t think I (or more like my brain) was in the mood to read this. It had all the markings for me loving it, shifter bears, GFY/BFY, friends to lovers, all feel good things! I found myself pushing through to get it read. The writing was good but I just wasn’t feeling it. I think I’ll wait to try this author again when my brain is more cooperative.
What can I say, this book was absolutely fantastic and I loved it. Definitely a must read, the characters were awesome, excitement galore, mysteries solved, sexy moments, a very different, but beautiful love story. This can't be the end, knowing this amazing Author, he's got to have more! So many thanks, Honey Bee 🐝💙🔥🥰🎭🤩📚❤🎶
This story was definitely filled with lots of drama, suspense and unexpected twists. I enjoyed spending time reading Daniel and Wil's journey towards their HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Noah Harris sure has a way of creating characters that are flawed, but immensely redeemable. This story is truly wonderful and well worth the time reading it. Highly recommended
