I really enjoy this author but I struggled with this book. From the beginning I couldn’t build these characters in my head unlike issac and Luke.

Lone Wolf is Scott Medbury's final novel in the America Falls series, although I understand there is a novella that Mr. Medbury has written that recounts the events following Lone Wolf. Unlike the previous six novels, Lone Wolf occurs on the west coast around Sacramento, California and relates the circumstances of Jack Monaghan and his sister Katie following the breakout of the Pyongyang flu.

I can't say the book is amazing, but, darn it, I couldn't stop reading this book any more than I could stop reading the other six volumes. They are exciting, engaging, and well told. I believe the only drawback to this book, and maybe it wouldn't be for readers that are into that type of literature, was the horrifying sequence at the beginning of the book related to Jack and Katie and a neighbor next door. In addition, as in some of the other books, our characters make some stupid mistakes, but isn't that what horror is all about? It's that time in a typical horror movie when the beautiful young girl walks into the dark room saying "Hello?" and never turning on a light, and the viewer is sitting there yelling, "Hey stupid... bad choice!."

In any case, Medbury is well adept at writing books that keep the reader fully entertained, and not wanting to stop reading until the book is finished. In a way, I'm sorry that I finished this series of books, but maybe some more will come along.

Unnecessary and completely disappointing

I really enjoyed the first six books of this series. I am extremely disappointed that the author chose to take this book in this direction. I forced myself through the disgusting scenario in part one because there hadn't been anything of the sort in the first six. Then Part Two takes the same direction with much worse graphic descriptions and results.

I am done. I will not read anymore of this series. I do not recommend it. I highly advise anyone with sensitivity to intimate violence to NOT read this book.

disappointed to find out this book didn't have anything to do with the first 6 books. it picks up right after the Chinese come in and set up camps for the kids. this book has a whole new group of kids going in a different direction of the USA than the original group. jack, Jen and Robert are the main characters in this story. jack just lost his sister and having no food or supplies he must adventure out in to the new world by himself. after sometime he winds up running in to a work camp the Chinese have set up for the kids. seeing how they are treated jack decides enough is enough and he will break them out or die trying. luck is on his side and not only does he free the whole camp but takes out every guard on the ground and then some. The kids know they can't stay it's not saft and more Chinese will show up to see what happen. breaking up into groups all, with different places in their mind the kids set off. jacks group piles in to a Chinese truck, hoping that they wount draw attention to themselves on the road. setting off to the Mexican border looking for a safe haven they will encounter some troubles but they are hoping the pay off will everything will make up for the trouble.

3 stars, maybe. This book started off far more interestingly than book 1 from the original series; however, there are the same issues with this series: the girls are all expected to take on traditional gender roles, which is idiotic given the world they live in, the same as in the first book; the MCs are two guys and a girl, same as the first book; they run into a Chinese American who is a leader and helps the characters, same as the first book… you get the point.

The dialogue does not progress the plot in any meaningful way. The characters are flat, lacking any sort of personality. I couldn’t tell you what any of them were into, and their backstories are mostly missing.

Oh, and let’s not forget the shade the author throws at Taylor Swift for her “revenge song” or wherever stupid shit he said. Lol. I’m not even a TSwift fan, but I know a dog whistle when I hear one. #incel.

I would not even be continuing this series if it wasn’t for the fact that I was asked to read it and review it for a local library to help other readers find books they may be interested in. My full review is on that website, but this review is mainly just notes for myself if I later wonder why I ever read this shit show of a series.

Great Read

The. Story begins with an apocalyptic event that unceremoniously takes the lives of the majority of the adults and only leaves children. It reminds me of the movie. Red. Dawn, Jack is the hero that was forced into the position of defending the people that he cares about ,realistically he can't protect everyone. Action from the beginning to the end,just disappointed that it ended so abruptly

I enjoyed this one!A flu kills all the adults,well not all.One bad man survives and causes major trouble for Jacks sister. That is just one of the things the new future holds. Adam Barr was a fine narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

It’s hard to say this one was as good as the others because this was introduced new characters and I just naturally think people are inclined to not like it as much because of that. However if you take that out of the equation it’s actually a pretty good book but I didn’t connect with the characters as much besides Jack

Exciting, tense a definite read through.

This book grabbed me from the beginning. It is face paced and we'll plotted. I couldn't sleep until I finished the book. Looking forward to the next in the series. Can't wait to start the next one.

Scary book

This book shows how a small group of teenagers manage to survive when all of the adults are gone and enemies invade the land. It is a very frightening time and they have many losses. Loved it.

The only reason I have a 4 star rating is because the book ended too soon. Great characters, good story line. Always give the hero a little more complication than they need. Would like to see more of Jack in the near future.

The lone wolf fights back

After the invasion of America, by the Chinese, the kids left alive band together to fight back. Jack loses all of his friends and sister to the Chinese, so he decided to free other kids who have been captured by the Chinese.

Good story

The blurb was a bit misleading but the story itself was really good. So much loss and death is to be expected in an apocalyptic world and this book had plenty of it. I would definitely recommend!

Another Gripping book to read.

Lone Wolf is the seventh book in the America Falls and it's a fantastic book. It's double time on the pages getting turned and the pace is so fast it's amazing. It's a great read.

I listened to books 1-7 and I enjoyed the slightly different take on the end of the world. I did not learn as much about how to survive as in other books but I did love how it continued and there were years post disaster so you know how things go. Looking forward to seeing what’s next.

The characters all had the same personalities. It also felt like a part of a book, rather than one cohesive story.
