From USA Today bestseller Crystal Kaswell comes an emotional roller coaster about two damaged souls trying to piece themselves back togetherOn paper, Alyssa has everything she wants. Booming career. Or or will they come apart?Come Apart is the second book in the Come Undone series. While it is a complete story, reading book one first is recommended.
Crystal Kaswell is the author of the Sinful Serenade series. She writes steamy new adult romance with flawed characters. She loves police procedurals, tea, and The Hunger Games series. She lives in Portland, OR with her husband.
What ??? What did I just read ??? The guy runs after his ex every time she snaps her fingers because he's afraid she'll try suicide again and feels obligated to protect her because she was by his side when his mother passed away years ago ... Until then I can understand. But what happens is that this same ex had an affair WITH HIS FATHER FOR TWO YEARS !!! The same father he always hated and blamed for his mother's death !! Yes, my people, she cheated him with his own father! He never wanted to take anything serious with her and died when she went to tell him that she loved him !!! And the worst ??? The cuckold still begged her to come back to him!Ohhh and she did. But he could not overcome the betrayal (swear??) She was very depressed because of the death of her lover (HIS FATHER) and attempted suicide. And he feels guilty for what for Gods sake????? Is there any sense in this ??? And he considers her a friend ???? And was undecided when the heroine gave him ultimatum?? Tell me about the second best here! The feeling I have is that the author has no idea how to turn one book into trilogy and has decided to create this completely absurd and unnecessary drama. I haven't read the third book (nor will I) but I have the feeling that her ex and his ex will be together and everyone will live happily ever after. Pleeeeease give back my time!
We met Luke and Alyssa in Come Undone. They are together and trying to make it work. Luke adores Alyssa. She adores him. She struggles with her recovery every day. And Luke wants to be there for her.
But...
Luke has his own struggles. And a manipulative ex.
Told from Luke's POV.
Full of feels. Angst. Heat.
Deals with mental health. There may be triggers for some. I love the emotions Crystal gives us.
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review .
In this second part of Luke and Alyssa's story, it's more of the same - back and forth between them, angst, and steamy times. Luke really lets Alyssa down in this one, allowing himself to continually be manipulated by his obnoxious ex. Alyssa is still not wanting to give him her all, especially since Luke is drifting further from her every day.
I really wanted to know if Luke and Alyssa were ever going to be on the same page, but I'll have to wait for the conclusion before I find that out.
This is the second book in the Come Undone series and can be read as a standalone. But for the best enjoyment I recommend that you read the first book. This was an emotional book that will have you crying one minute and laughing the next. Two lost souls , Alyssa and Luke will grab your heart. The drama increases with the emergence of Samantha, Luke's ex girlfriend. The story is told from Luke's point of view. The characters are well defined and likable. The chemistry and steam between Luke and Alyssa is off the charts. A good story that was fun to read. "I received an advanced copy of this manuscript and am voluntarily leaving an honest review."
I received an advanced copy of this manuscript and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. The table is turned when the shoe is on the opposite foot Luke gave Alyssa an ultimatum to either choose him or Ryan months ago and now she turns it on him when his ex fiance who tried to kill her self once ends up back in again and when she calls Luke to come to her rescue he dose because he feel like he owes her from being there when his word fell apart when him mom died even though she was cheating on him he could not see she was manipulating him to get back with him Alyssa see's though it and tries to tell him multiple times but he doesn't see it in till it's almost to late and he loses Alyssa for good when she gives him the same ultimatum he gave her
Bleh. That’s a great review huh? Here’s the thing, in the first book you fall in love with Luke-strong, kind, alpha male. This book? He gets walked all over by his Ex Samantha. I just did not see that in his character. Nor the “I’m madly in love with Alyssa” thread either. A true player goes from player to ready to settle down in the span of 3 months? I was just disappointed in the direction the author took his character.
This second book blew me away! There is so much emotion, angst, love and sexy times throughout this book, and what really surprised me was how much I liked Alyssa. I'm the first book, her character annoyed me, but my wish was granted and she finally started fighting for what she wanted! My only issue here? Luke. And I didn't see that coming.
At the start of this book, we have Alyssa and Luke who are building their lives together and experiencing what a healthy love is like. They are still the same lovable characters, and just when you think everything is going perfect, a blast from Luke's past shows up.
Samantha, Luke's ex, is unstable, and the way that she emotionally manipulates him made me shake my head a few times, but I could help but feel bad for both of them. Knowing that Samantha is perceived as the "bad guy" in this book, much like Ryan is to Alyssa.. But with how honest this author is about mental health, and the way these books showcase the importance of making sure your mentally healthy and keeping yourself that way is something that I think will be very relatable to reasers. As a society, we are becoming more accepting to those who need help, and I just so wanted to see Samantha get better. I felt Luke's pain so well.. and even though he didn't necessarily like Samantha at some points, the fact that he was indebted to her (or at least felt that way) showed his drive to always be there and protect her. I wish he was more open and honest with Alyssa, especially knowing what she went through with Ryan, but it still felt so honest to me. I also really loved how this was in Luke's POV.
I think these books open a much needed dialect about mental health, and I'm so glad this author is showcasing how important it is.
**I I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
Emotionally charged heartbreak Come Apart (Come Undone Trilogy Book 2) by Crystal Kaswell is another remarkably well written romance that has blown me away with these characters, their flaws and emotional baggage. I love how this author can create a single point of view story and make it such a well rounded book for the reader. Her characters are extremely real and completely relatable through the character’s self talk as well as the amazing dialogue. Often witty, frequently honest and at times sensitive or serious. The plot of this book is a continuation of the first book, Come Undone, but with a twist in that the focus is on Luke rather an Allyssa. While the romance continues, it’s not all hearts and flowers. Luke has some real issues as well as a manipulative antagonist creating havoc for their happy ending. Overall, a very well written book in this trilogy that has me anticipating the conclusion with the happily for now ending. I just know there’s more unresolved or new drama yet to be revealed in the conclusion. I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
Alyssa and Luke are together and happy. But the past keeps interfering. Ryan refuses to end his partnership with Luke and Luke's ex-fiancee, Samantha who slept with his father is constantly calling on Luke for something. Alyssa gets tired of sharing Luke with his ex and asks him to end their friendship and Luke must decide which is more important the past or his future. I loved how strong Ally has grown to be and that she is really willing to fight for what she wants. I didn't like Luke's relationship with Samantha, I thought she was manipulative and took advantage at every turn and I was happy when he cut ties with her. I look forward to the third book to see how all of this wraps up.
Come Apart is book 2 in the Come Undone trilogy and you should really read Come Undone before reading this book to get a full comprehension of the characters and backstory. I loved Come Undone and understood a lot of the angst and back and forth that Luke and Alyssa experienced to finally be together. In Come Undone I loved Luke and got frustrated by Alyssa’s delays in admitting her feelings for him however Come Apart completely changed how I felt about the characters and story. Luke and Alyssa are finally in a great place in their relationship and his ex-fiancé comes back into his life to cause issues between them. I got very frustrated with how long Luke let Samantha manipulate him and come between him and Alyssa, especially with how much he actually dislikes her. I was able to sympathize with Alyssa more in this book but I still found her to be immature as a character because she refuses to communicate and she has a lot of insecurities.
Overall I liked this book but it was not my favorite from Crystal Kaswell and I felt that Come Undone was a much stronger book than this. I am eager for the 3rd book to see how the relationship progresses and hopefully to see the characters mature and get beyond all of their communication issues. I received and advanced copy of this book for an honest review.
Come Apart is the sequel to Come Undone and continues the journey of Alyssa and Luke. Alyssa gains confidence as she continues to work on herself and overcoming her eating disorder. Luke adores Alyssa and wants to be there for her but struggles with his guilty need to support his ex, Samantha. Luke and Alyssa have a deep connection, but Samantha is always using manipulation to get Luke's attention. Will Alyssa continue to be understanding when Luke continues to drop everything, including her, when Samantha says she needs him? Will Luke every see Samantha as the manipulative person she is? Will Luke finally walk away from Samantha before he loses Alyssa? Why does Luke stay at the law firm with Ryan, Alyssa's ex? I love Crystal Kaswell! Come Apart is a great book that has drama, manipulation, steam, and emotional overload. I would definitely recommend getting Come Apart by Crystal Kaswell. Crystal Kaswell is a MUST read author for this reader. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
"I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced copy of this manuscript"... and i cannot get enough of it!!!!! "Come Apart" is the sequel of "Come Undone" but also its return of boomerang!!!! Or maybe the other side of the coin... After the POV of Alyssa and her triangular inner battle with Ryan in book one, we get Luke's slightly different triangle in his POV!! Luke and Alyssa's roles are somehow reversed which tests their love, yet again!!!! In this book, the psychological traumas of the main characters are highlighted, dissected and allows a deeper comprehension, connection and understanding! The passion, still burning red hot, subsides a little to the "real" core of the relationship! Still completely addictive, emouving, witty, funny... So well written that the end will take you by surprise and rush you to the next one!!! Amazing, amazing, amazing!!!!
This is the second book in the Come Undone series. Alyssa has finally found peace with Luke, but the one thing she won't do is share him, and that is exactly what Samantha wants to do. His ex-fiancee, the one who cheated with his father, said she loved him more than Luke and went to be with Edward just before he dropped dead of a heart attack, has still got Luke listed as her emergency contact. And considering she has tried to kill herself several times, Luke has a certain amount of guilt associated with this relationship. But Alyssa knows that Samantha is still in love with Luke and isn't willing to let him go - despite her proclamations to the contrary - and she will do anything to keep Luke in her life. But Luke can't see this and until he cuts ties with Samantha, Alyssa isn't willing to be all in. Told from Luke's point of view, he can appreciate the turmoil that Alyssa went through with Ryan in book 1.
This is a fantastic follow up to Come undone book 1 in this series were we continue Luke and Alyssa's romance. I really relished learning about the aftermath of book 1 and what happened to these Amazing characters.(I recommend reading book 1 first you will love it). As with all great Love stories Nothing ever goes smoothly, as Alyssa finds herself fighting for Lukes affection when an old flame of his comes into the picture. Although the chemistry between them is still electrifying, this unexpected problem puts a strain on their relationship and Alyssa and Luke once again must work through it to find their HEA...Or maybe its too late . Come Apart is another Excellent book by Crystal Kaswell, her writing is as addictive as always and I found it hard to put this one down.I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
This is the second book of the Come Undone series. It's highly emotional, filled with angst, tragedy and betrayals that leave your heart breaking and your head reeling. The underhanded moves, the lies and positioning that Ryan and Samantha use to manipulate their former fiancees, Alyssa and Luke, are so sneaky that there were times while reading this book that I had to walk away from my Kindle so I wouldn't throw it against a wall! Alyssa and Luke are wonderful together, and though you know they love each other and want to be with each other, there are times in the book where you wonder what exactly keeps these two going and so connected. I wanted to root for their relationship, yet there were times I just wasn't sure about the true level of committment or loyalty between them - do they have what it takes to make it, long-term and for forever? Can't wait to see what happens next!!
This book follows Come Undone, and is a continuation of Luke and Alyssa's story. This book focuses on the relationship triangle between Luke, Alyssa, and Samantha. There is more backstory here, and the author connects the characters’ flaws. Luke's guilt, anger, and frustration spill out. Alyssa may have an eating disorder but she sees things clearly, and is working on being strong for herself and by herself. The characters have come alive in this story, and they are all wonderfully flawed. I'm enjoying the triangle aspects of this trilogy so far, and found myself flying through the pages. I'm looking forward to the final book of this series, and can't wait until Come to Me is out. Be warned if descriptions of disordered eating are triggers.
I received a copy of this book. My honest review is voluntarily provided.
This book carries on ffom book1 in the series and i think it is more relatable if you've read the first book so you know the back story . The characters are likeable and you get thoroughly caught up in the story as it unfolds. I didn't want to put it down once I'd started it. Alyssa and Luke are both trying to overcome obstacles to their relationship . Samantha, Luke's ex girlfriend is back on the scene after trying to commit suicide for a second time. She's very manipulative and uses Lukes guilt against him. The tables are now turned and it's Alyssa turn to deliver an ultimatum . Who will Luke choose ? I really enjoyed this book and would thoroughly recommend it
I received this copy from the author in exchange for an honest review
Book two in the Come Undone trilogy. Book one Come Undone is full length and reads as stand-alone with HFN. Book two Come Apart is told solely in the male POV and takes place after book one ends, so it is better to read book one first. It is full length but, in my opinion, very repetitive with Luke’s thoughts and conversations with his ex being the same in all their interactions. There is OW drama for most of the book, but no cheating. I love Crystal Kaswell books because her characters are not perfect but very real with real life problems. There is a lot of steaminess and an HFN ending.
I loved the first book in this series, the second was a great addition. I have enjoyed that this isn’t like other books that I’ve read, and it touches on real problems that others may have experienced. Alyssa has finally found the man she is meant to be with, who can love her even with her busy work schedule and her battling an eating disorder. Just when they have found their groove his ex comes back in the picture. Luke loves Alyssa with all his heart but he feels the need to help his ex. He has a huge heart but is blinded by her intentions.
I received an advanced copy of this manuscript and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I loved the second part to this series. I had been left feeling that I wanted more after the first and I wasn’t disappointed! I love that they know they aren’t perfect, they don’t pretend to be perfect but they know how strong they feel for each other. They author doesn’t shy away from the difficult topics and deals with mental health in a really sensitive way but isn’t afraid to show the darker parts. I was almost ready to scream and shout at Luke but it’s ok now, I love him again. I want these two to live happily ever after so I can’t wait to see what the last instalment has in store. As ever another great read from Crystal
Even more layers. The emotions and angst leap off the page and into your mind and soul.
Luke and Alyssa’s journey is not an easy one, but, oh my, is it enjoyable for us readers. I like her more this book as she alone, and they together, deal with life’s messy reality. Regardless of the past, you can't help but root for them in all areas.
I requested and received arc copies of the whole series and chose to read them all before reviewing them. This is my honest opinion and not influenced in any way. I do recommend reading when you're able to read the trilogy together - it enhances the experience.
Come Apart by Crystal Kaswell is book Two in the Come Undone Series. This continues the story of story of Alyssa and Luke, so I do feel you should read the previous book first book "Come Undone". Alyssa in the last book had to choose between Luke and Ryan along with dealing some really hard issue. Now Luke and Alyssa are together trying to learn their way around each other and their feelings when Luke's ex Samantha shows up. Samantha is very manipulative toward Luke which of course causes issue between Alyssa and Luke. So the tables are turned in this book. This series deals with a lot of issues along with mental heath. For me it was a page turner.
I enjoyed this book much more than the first. It's told in Luke's POV. I don't know if that made the difference. This book revealed the questions I had from the first book on whether he was vindictive in his chase of Alyssa. Luke feels guilty about his ex's bad luck and circumstance. He has done so much for her that he really has no reason to feel guilty. I understand the need to help others and you feel like a failure yourself if you don't help them. Alyssa, not knowing her inner thoughts, handled this complication very well. This has a happy ending and I enjoyed this book the best out of the series.
This is the second book of the Come Undone Trilogy and the saga continues. There is lots of angst and drama in the story along with some pretty good steam. The main characters face lots of challenges and inner turmoil that need to be dealt with in order to move forward. Will Alyssa be able to address her insecurities? Will they be able to overcome everything and be in a good healthy relationship? While this is not Crystal's typical bad boy book, its a story that draws you in and keeps you reading. Lots of emotions that are dealt with well.
This one was told from Luke's POV. I appreciated this story from another perspective, but it wasn't an easy read for me. I don't think Luke's story was much different than Alyssa's was. I think it was all too familiar. It is easy to see when someone else is making a mistake, but harder when you are the one who is making it. They both have the same struggles with former relationships. They both feel the need to repay debts and hold guilt. Its interesting watching the couple deal with each other's struggles. I received this advance and an voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is book two in this emotional love/life triangle. I recommend that you start at the first book Come Undone. This trilogy is different than the other books that I have read by this author. There are three key characters and you see their POV in the books. These characters have to navigate an emotional minefield with trauma, drama and angst. These characters are flawed, damaged and vulnerable. The storyline is intense and captivating. I can’t wait to see the aftermath of this journey in the next book in the trilogy. I am volunteering to leave a review for this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is the second book in the trilogy and they need to be read in order so you get the full package. Alyssa and Luke are trying to navigate their new relationship while letting go of their ex's. When Alyssa has to point out to Luke that his ex doesn't just want to be his friend and Luke has to keep dealing with Ryan and their firm things get heated on both side. This book is told from Luke POV. I am just in love with Luke. He is funny and snarky and has tattoos. What more could you ask for. Bring on the next book!
I love reading anything by Crystal but I will admit, the first of this trilogy was not a favorite. When I saw the second book I told myself to give it a shot.
The story of Luke and Alyssa is complex.
Luke has a misguided sense of responsibility towards his manipulative ex, Samantha.
Alyssa has a difficult time allowing people in, including Luke.
More frustration and more hot make up sex.
Still not one of my favorite of Crystals books or series but this is still is a must read as a fan. You won’t be disappointed.
From Luke's point of view. His mum was killed in car accident on a foggy morning after a fight with his dad about something Luke had done but his mum stuck up for him so he blames himself. Luke calls Alyssa Ally for short. Luke's ex Samantha can be suicidal and is incredibly manipulative. Alyssa gives Luke an ultimatum her or Samantha. Ryan shows his true ugly colours in this book and wants to buy Luke out of partnership but Luke wants to dissolve the practice.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Characters in this are good, again a little bit of a slow start. Alyssa and Luke are very likable. They have some issues to deal with but are hitting them head on. The 10 page sex scenes are boring to say the least. Someone should shove Samantha off a bridge somewhere, the way she manipulates and pushes is ridiculous. Not sure if I want to read the third book since half of it is wasted on the boring sex scenes that last way too long
