Is Love Enough didn't work for me. TaMia is unhappy in her long term relationship with Davin. She's changed and molded herself into the woman he wants her to be and she's grown tired of not being able to be her true self. When she's laid off from her job, TaMia finally decides to pursue her dream of owing a restaurant. Davin is not very supportive which, cause a rift between them. She decides to go home to spend time with her ailing Grandmother. While she's there, TaMia runs into her ex-boyfriend from high school. The author tried to convey this instant attraction between TaMia and Austin but, it came off as very manufactured. Their supposed chemistry just didn't come across as organic or believable. It felt fake and phony. Even the arguments between TaMia and Davin felt staged and fake. The author was trying too hard and it didn't work. At least not for me. Is Love Enough is my first book by LaKesa Cox and it will be my last.

The story follows TaMia, a highly successful marketing executive whose place of work is suddenly and unceremoniously closed by the FBI. Having grown tired of the marketing world and the lack of representation she sees day after day, TaMia is looking forward to a change. Her boyfriend, Davin, is less enthusiastic.

Having grown used to his girlfriend looking and behaving a certain way - conforming so as not to cause him embarrassment - he is less than thrilled when TaMia expresses an interest in running a food truck in preparation for her entry to the world of the professional restaurateur. Even when she wants to visit her family, including her delightful and elderly grandmother, MaDear, he seems put out. But when she returns to her family home, what secrets will TaMia unearth, and will she learn to live as herself with or without Davin?

I really enjoyed the dynamic and modern writing style. The dialogue was comfortable and felt friendly and familial. The story was really well-crafted and emotionally charged. I really enjoyed the change in my own feelings towards the character of Davin. To begin with, I didn’t like him. Later, I had to wonder what TaMia saw in him. I was delighted when she started to wonder as well.

Looking forward to reading more from this author.

This is a great storyline of how a person doesn't have to change their mindset and way of living for someone else. The characters were well developed and I could feel the emotions that they were going through of love, anger, hurt, betrayal and controlling.
I even found myself laughing at some of the scenes and ready to choke a character in the book.
This storyline held my attention from the beginning until the end and left me wanting more. Even though the book didn't end as a cliff hanger, hopefully the author will continue another book to explore some of the back storylines of other characters.
I highly recommend this book if you love romance, secrets, lies and some drama and look forward to reading more books by this author, she is an excellent writer.

Sometimes love is not enough.. 😨

This short read definitely captured my attention and did not let up until the end. It had more drama than I expected. TaMia is at a crossroads with being in a relationship with Davin and being her true self. What I loved most about this book is how realistic the topics were. Unfortunately for TaMia everyone noticed how much she had changed while being with Davin. I think it’s really easy to lose yourself in a relationship but fortunately for TaMia, she found herself and chunked the deuces up to Davin. Austin was the better man, anyhow. I appreciated the twists that the author added to this book, it added good depth to the storyline. I enjoyed it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this story

Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. There were intimate moments that fit the story nicely. I was okay with the way the author told this story. TaMia had a perfect match and Austin had a perfect match, I hoped their universes collided. Davin and TaMia's relationship never appeared to be solid like a rock. Rocky, yes, and going in opposite directions. A Hilary Banks and Braxton P. Hartnabrig (the dude from Jamie Foxx show) couple, they were too bougie for words. When a man wants you to be something different, it's time to let him go. TaMia made the right choice. Her story was a great lesson for young adults. Always be you.....

Is Love Enough...Well is it?

TaMia and Austin This is a perfect example of easy. I found the journey of these two to be sweet. I don't talk plot in reviews but I will say, this was a completely developed storyline. I enjoyed the backstory of TaMia's family. They were not perfect, they were good and believable. The humor was present! I laughed out loud when she said that she had watched enough Investigative Discovery to know to be near the door! Austin was hot and open to her. This was a good read. Love is ALWAYS enough.

Is Love enough??! HELLLL NOOO!! Especially what Tamia went through with Davin. It's crazy because women actually go through this in relationships and think this is okay. I mean a man doesn't have to put his hands on you to be considered abusive..OKAY???!! Okay. LOL

Anyways, now that I have gotten that off my chest, this was a great read. It definitely kept you on your toes. This novella is longer than what I am use to, but I didn't mind. Now if the book started to drag, we would have had a problem! Excellent job Author LaKesa Cox!

Great short

Loved the flow of this book; it immediately grabbed my attention. This well-written novella packed a punch with family, relationships and love. Tamia's journey was relatable and I rooted for her all the way. Davin was truly an undeserving, selfish man and I pondered why Tamia tolerated such 'love'. As much as I dislike series books, I would love to see how this plays out, including her developing relationship with pops.

Beautiful story

This story makes you stop and appreciate who is around and who you hold dear but more importantly to appreciate who you are. Watching TaMia struggle trying to decide the next chapter in her life and decide to be a strong woman is a beautifully wonderful story. I highly recommend this book...

I loved it

The accuracy of how women sometimes change to suit their partner's needs instead of what they want to truly do😮. I love how Tamia's family and friends helped her to see what she had subconsciously been doing. Austin 🤤 true love always wins

Well written. Great flow. Not too little or too much of anything. The right amount of love, solemn, joy, thought provoking, etc. Very realistic and relatable. Perfect pace. Just a great book.
