Wow. Building Bridges by Lia Fairchild really tugged on my heart strings! So many feels! Logan Bridges is one of 4 brothers. He's a former soldier, who has returned home to take care of his family, after they were devastated by an unimaginable loss. As Logan tries to juggle his family's needs, he is also battling demons of his own. When a girl from his past offers her assistance, this is where the fun and feels begin! I loved Mollie and Logan! Right from the start there were sparks between them. Their budding friendship turned into deep caring. They were so good together! Their chemistry was front and center, but it was their mutual admiration and respect for one that really got to me!
By the way, did I mention how dreamy Logan is?
He has the biggest heart and is not afraid to wear it on his sleeve.

Molly is a fiercely independent woman, who lives a solitary life. Being a nurse has given her a nurturing heart. I loved how she fit into the overwhelming Bridges family perfectly. Her relationship and interactions with all of the family members brought a smile to my face. She truly became the light in their darkness. Hers and Logan's relationship wasn't without challenges. Their road to an HEA was not easy but I can say it sooooo worth it!

Each and every character in Building Bridges was so endearing and special. From Logan's Grandpa Bud to the youngest of the Bridges children. All of them brought so much to this story!
Each book will focus on a different brother.... Mason is the oldest. His book, Broken Bridges will be out next on Feb 5! I can not wait to to read more!

Building Bridges by Lia Fairchild is the first novel in the Bridges Brothers series by Lia Fairchild, a new to me author. The series tells the story of four Brothers, who are attempting to get their lives on track after suffering a devastating loss. Building Bridges delivered a heartfelt romance with well-developed characters while focusing on the effects of the loss of loved ones and PTSD. This is Logan’s story.

After surviving an ambush, which killed most of the members of his team, Logan returned hope to take up the responsibility of caring for his family. This was no simple task as Logan had issues of his own, which weighed heavily on him. However, when a beautiful woman from his past stepped in to assist him, he found himself on the road which led to healing and love.

I enjoyed the romance, which developed between the main characters. Despite their immediate attraction to each other, they spent time getting to know each other on an emotional level before engaging in a physical relationship.

Logan struggled with PTSD. He had no memories of what happened on that fateful day, but he blames himself for the death of his men. Stepping in to help with his family in their time of loss was a way to compensate for what he believed to be his fault. He proved to be strong, dependable and a real-life hero.

Mollie was a compassionate soul. A loner by nature, she gravitated towards this family w who were in dire need of healing. Everything she did was with good intentions, so it was easy for them to embrace her into their fold.

I enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters, especially Logan’s youngest cousin Belle, aka Belly Bean. She was such an adorable child and smart for her years.

If you choose to pick this one, prepare yourself for an emotional journey. Building Bridges was a beautifully written romance that dealt with a wide range of issues with which many readers can relate. It made me angry at the situations the characters faced. It brought tears to eyes watching the characters trying to get over their loss, especially the younger ones. Then there were the humorous scenes that aided in balancing out the sadness and the anger.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Overall, I had a wonderful time with this book and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

There is a lot to love about Building Bridges, but let me tell you my top five reasons (in no particular order):

1. Slow build - yes, there's somewhat immediate attraction, which I expect to see in a Romance novel; however, true to her form, Fairchild doesn't throw her characters right into bed, which I appreciate. And I know I've mentioned it in other reviews about her past novels, but the author's ability to write sex scenes and romance without "bodice ripper" words takes her romances to an entire new level for me. Fairchild can write an intensely hot scene without making me want to gag over words or skip pages whilst rolling my eyes so hard back in my head that I may lose them ;) (thanks for that, Lia)!

2. Strong, developed characters - romance is the name of the game so that will be a focus point; however, Logan and Mollie have issues and lives outside of their attraction to one and other and those things are fully explored in the story and don't just serve as quick words in between sex scenes. Additionally, the entire Bridges family is lovable and some of my favorite characters to have read about in 2019 (I read a very early copy and am only writing my review now that the book has published).

3. Heart - Logan is back, somewhat hesitantly at first, with his family after serving in the military. Readers will not be able to avoid being touched at how he finds his way to the hub of a family in pain and in desperate need of support.

4. Story - combined with the strong characters, I appreciate the work Fairchild puts into ensuring her readers get a developed story that has the sexy romance-y parts that lovers of the genre savor, while also including humor, fun, intrigue, and even whimsy. I was invested in this family, the couple, and the evolving story from the first page.

5. Friction - the story has pain, anger, frustration, and more. There are familial issues, mental issues, past demons, and normal, daily struggles that readers can connect with and relate to throughout. I like that about novels that do it well (and this one does). Yes, I read to escape at times and I know many readers do, but escaping while also learning about people and issues you may not have experience with is valuable and authors who make it happen authentically while simply putting together a great story are my favorites.

Bonus reason: try not to ADORE Belly Bean and her relationship with pretty much anyone she interacts with during the story!!

I am once again a raving fan of a Lia Fairchild novel and set of characters. I've thought about Mollie, Logan, and the entire Bridges clan many times since reading this book - almost as if they are real and I can call up and check on them if I like (wouldn't that be nice, readers?).

A sweet and safe romance, the kids in this were a good touch.

I didn't find myself as invested in the romance between Logan and Mollie as I had hoped but still a nice light one time read.

I grabbed this one because a friend of mine raved and raved about it. I am so glad I listened to her, and bought it! I loved it! The writing is impeccable, and I'm a total sucker for a redemption story.

Wow! Such an amazing story that really tugged at my heartstrings. The Bridges family is such a special family. After a family tragedy, Logan tries to help them pick up the pieces of their broken hearts, even as he tries to push aside his own pain from PTSD. His former friend and classmate, Mollie, tries to help and immediately gets attached to this broken family. Can just her friendship be enough to save Logan and his family, or is Logan the hero that will heal their broken hearts? I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I am also attached to this family now.

It had a good plot but maybe it was just me but IDK I was not as invested in the characters? It was safe, sweet but they also had some angst/ issues but it was resolved. I also was confused a lot cause there were secrets, I just got lost lol

Anyways great filler read between some heavy books lol

Swoon-worthy!

Before today, Lia Fairchild had not crossed my TBR list with any of her books. After reading, Building Bridges, my thoughts are screaming, “Where have you been?” I was blown away by this book and Lia’s writing. I cannot wait to see what she comes out with next.

Logan has been serving in the military for a bit but now he is back to raise a house full of kids. Logan has set aside his own grief and left his PTSD untreated to make sure his family is taken care of. What Logan did not count on was Mollie. Logan and Mollie have known each other for a long time but never crossed that line. Now that Mollie is around full time with helping him raise the kids, will they cross that line?

From the beginning, Logan and Mollie have had incredible chemistry and never acted on it. I love that their story is slow-burning and not full-on flame. They both have their own personal things to work through before they could ever be happy together. Logan is a family man and that says a lot about him. He is a bit frustrating at times to the point where I just wanted to scream but I restrained. Mollie is a lovable person as well and I loved how caring she was. These two could not be more perfect for each other.

This is a new to me author. Building Bridges is the first book in the Bridges Brothers series. Logan is the second oldest brother and has come home after serving in the Army to help his family heal and move forward. Needless to say, things are a hot mess. During the course of events, he meets Mollie. She offers to come help out the family and Logan and Mollie agree to strike up a friendship and nothing more.

We know how that goes, right? What I liked about the book is that slow burn. Logan took time to get to know Mollie and went and her speed--actually slowing things down even more, when she wanted to jump ahead. The big reveal toward the end of the story was not at all what I was thinking it was going to be. I am not certain it needed to be that complicated, but it allowed for some reflection time so I guess it served it's purpose.

I loved the family. Lots of complex characters going on here. It will be great getting to know each of the brothers better in turn. I am guessing the series will jump forward in time, since the youngest are still in high school. That's fine with me. Hopefully we will see Logan and Mollie again in future books.

Not a bad start for a new series. It holds promise for stories to come.

It only takes a minute and your life can change forever. The author handled the emotional traumas facing this family with sensitivity and grace. Logan, a Vet returning with PTSD, fighting his demons. He is preparing to transitiona nd move on with his life. His step-mother, Nina and aunt Sheri, die in a tragic accident. Two families are devestated and move in together to share the grief and recovery. Gramps, Dad Edward, older brother Mason, half-brother Justice, 16, Ryder, 13 and Aunt Sheri's family, Frank, unemployed husband, Colton 8yo and Belle 3yo all live together now. Nina, ran a tight ship and with her passing, the ship is lurching. Mollie, a nurse who expresses concern over Belle's care, went to high school with Logan. She steps up to make sure Belle is being treated right, and stays to spend time with the dysfunctional family. Can Molly, do some good? Will the family accept the presence of a new female? Will Molly and Logan deep dive their relationship? This story really pulls at your heart. The author handles all of the family going through all of the human emotions navigating through the stages of grief. Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Nice cover art!

Perfection! Not just a romance, no this book is so much more a book of acceptance and hero’s. Logan, the man that survived horrors and came home an Mollie the nurse that saves everyone. Hero’s most people don’t like or want to be called that, they just do what has to be done. That is the truth for both of these powerful characters that is their truth. Connected from youth and so much more, but time and circumstances have robbed Logan of some of those memories.
Small things connect Mollie and Logan but most of all his family. A family that has suffered more than most, and in desperate need for order and help. So instead of asking her out and her calling him out the decide to help each other because of their past. For him because he sees more than what she offers and that scares him. For her she fears he will remember their more recent past and recent her. Overcoming it all makes them stronger and for us one heck of a romance to read. Again, perfection.

This is my first book by Lia and Ioved it. Logan is one of four Bridge Brothers and he has returned home from the military and their family has lost two prominent women in their life. The family to say the least is struggling. However in my opinion, Logan is now the rock that is caring for everyone. Logan surly is a hero and swoon worthy.

Mollie is sweet and caring and alone. they develop a friendship with fantastic chemistry between not only them but Logan’s family.

Let’s talk Logan’s family. I LOVE LOVE them. I love their interactions and his relationships with his brothers and his cousins. Nothing better than that.

I highly enjoyed this story and the characters and look forward to reading his brother Masons book next.

This was my first story by Fairchild and she did not disappoint. Building Bridges is the first book in Fairchild's newest series Bridges Brothers. It's the perfect Contemporary Military Romance and will pull on those heartstrings as it has all the feels. At least it did for me. I love each and every character in this story and can't wait for more!

Logan served his country and never could have imagined he would be helping raise a house full of children. He's the second oldest of the four brothers. As Logan is thrown into this new life he has to deal with his own demons in the form of PTSD. He finds help in someone very unexpected.

Mollie and Logan have a past but watching them go through such an unimaginable loss she just couldn't handle. She's got a sassy independence that's for sure. Mollie just fits so perfectly into the Bridges family. Like she should have always been there.

HEA for sure with this one even if it was a long hard road to get there.

Wow! That was a really emotional read. I must have cried a river at all the feels I have in my heart right now. I simply could not put this book down; so many fabulous characters and so many raw feelings. The writing is just wonderful and made me need more.

Logan is struggling with PTSD and it almost broke me. I could feel him pulling me to him. He is just such a hero in every sense of the word; strong, dependable and oh so sexy.

Mollie is an angel. She is so caring and has her heart in the right place. She slowly becomes the light in the huge family that belongs to Logan and makes everyone fall in love with her.

The tears rolled down my face as I read a lot of this book but the plot thickens as I became more deeply involved with this couple. I was breathless, just waiting for them to get it right. I simply can’t wait for the rest of the Bridges family to have their stories.

There was more to this book than meets the eye. The first thing that appealed to me about it was that Logan and Mollie are meeting again after knowing each other before. But there is a twist to it that surprised me...no spoilers in this review though! Honestly I was so torn on whether to give this book 3 or 4 stars. I was thinking 3 stars because although it was a very good story I thought there were some inconsistencies and slightly unbelievable parts of the story. I decided on 4 stars because towards the end it really redeemed itself and the twists and turns really pulled me in. Overall it was a good story with a war hero and a caring nurse and a whole cast of interesting characters! I’m looking forward to reading about the other Bridges brothers!!

What a story!! So beautifully written and full of emotions from beginning to end. Logan and Molly gave me the feels BIG TIME. Ms. Fairchild pulled off not only characters who were the complete package but a plot that encompassed his family and their needs, Logan and Molly's needs and moved their relationship along beautifully and in some unexpected ways. I often had tears in my eyes as I read and my heart was always full. This story was perfection personified.

I had a hard time getting into it at first because I was wondering where it was going. But once I realized it was basically what we call in French a “tranche de vie” (a moment in life) about a dysfunctional family with a delicious romance thrown into it, I couldn’t put it down. The point of this kind of story is to see what becomes of each character.

Of course, we’re most interested in Logan and Mollie–the veteran who came back from war somewhat incomplete and takes care of his broken family, and the devoted nurse who personally knew Logan and wants to help him and his relatives. And their burgeoning relationship, from old acquaintances to new friends to maybe more.

But Logan’s family and Mollie’s neighbor are colorful characters who also experience some change during the story. I particularly enjoyed Ryder, Logan’s half brother who has unusual interrogations. And the relationships between all those characters are the most delightful.

Logan is a veteran, but this isn’t a military romance; Mollie and Logan knew each other in high school, but it isn’t a second chance romance either; although Logan thinks of himself as a manny–a male nanny–because he takes care of the younger members of his family, he’s much more.

Go and spend some time with the Bridges family, they’re a bunch of nice people. Can I become an honorary member?

Quickie

- Series: Bridges brothers #1 (but can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #veteran #nurse #dysfunctional family #friends-to-lovers
- Triggers: not graphic depiction of war bombing and its consequences
- Main couple: Mollie Fisher & Logan Bridges
- Hotness: 3/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + positive message about handicap
- – not always well written

This is the first book I have read by Lia. I love seeing Lincoln and Mollie grow as a couple but also seeing them try to keep things simple to not disrupt the family that both are trying to protect. These two have history together and some of their past is remembered but some is not. Lincoln left home right out of high school to join the Army and during his time he was injured. He is dealing with that while also dealing with the death of his step mom and aunt. It was the loss of these two women that brought him back home to help out. One night his niece Belle gets hurt and is taken to the hospital where he reconnects with Mollie who he remembers from high school. She has concerns that Belle isn’t being properly taken care of so a desk is made that Mollie will come over so she can see that Belle is loved and taken care of. Feelings grow during this time. Not just feelings of love but for some feelings of hurt and betrayal. This is the story of love, second chances, healing and forgiving. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

“I’m still having this book hangover! Building Bridges was such a good story! Before starting to read I kind of forgot the blurb honestly so technically I started reading without expectations and it was so worth it. Right after finishing chapter one, I was completely hooked up until the end.

Logan, my heart ached for him. He suffered his own tragedy and crumble while trying to recover until he stood up. I cried for him. On the other side we have Molly, they used to went to school together now, she has came back into Logan’s life and as a nurse. She was like savior to him. They relationship was a want it all or want it all.

You will fall in love with Logan and Molly’s story. Plus the interactions with the kids were adorable. Like I said, some parts were sad and hurtful specially for Logan, I suffered for him but I’m so happy how this book ended. A not so common romance story that will melt your heart. Building Bridges was a story of surprises, healing and love.”

One of my favorite things about Lia Fairchild is her ability to write interesting, full characters who pull you into their stories. You become a part of the Bridges family, watch them recover from a terrible loss, and celebrate their triumphs.
In the first book of this series we meet Logan, an Army vet who, like so many others, is trying to find his place in the civilian world and within his family now that he is home. Into his life walks Molly, a strong, smart woman who is no damsel in distress. Watching them fall in love is a journey of tenderness, give-n-take, humor and desire.
Building Bridges sets up the characters for the rest of the series, but does it without taking away from the main story. By doing this, even the secondary characters are full of life.
I was a beta reader for this book and enjoyed it so much, I read my copy 4 times and bought a copy from Amazon when it was released.
I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book.

I felt like I was picked up by a tornado but came out better then I went in! Debra @ Janise’s Jivin’ Book Blog

Building Bridges is a story filled with surprises and awe moments. The Bridges family is a family that could use some good, happy moments and Mollie brings some of those to them after an incident with the youngest of the family.

Logan and Mollie share a past and come together to help his family and in so doing get closer but as friends. Or at least that is what they try to only be. Their chemistry though leads them to thinking maybe they could have more.

This book brought me to tears in several places and made me want to hug my family tight. What you see from the outside is not always exactly a clear view, take the time to look deeper and wipe away the fog of a moment.

Beautiful and heart filling as well as tragic. What a read!

I really enjoyed this book and loved the development of Logan and Mollie's relationship. The way the book starts out really draws you in, giving you a look into the lives of the characters without giving too much away, and leaving you wanting to know more. The more I read, the more I found myself unable to put the book down! The romance is steamy, without being too much, and the chemistry between the main characters is off the charts. This book got me hook, line, and sinker, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good romance that's more than just instant love! Thumbs up to Lia Fairchild for writing such an amazing story! Can't wait to read the next one in the series!

Building Bridges, Bridges Brothers #1 is by a new to me author, Lia Fairchild. While well written, the story tended to slow at some points. The characters were remarkable, Logan as a disabled vet with PTSD that returned home to care for his family and Mollie, who was a lot more than a high school friend and nurse that cared for his cousin.

The story tugged at your heartstrings and with an unexpected twist made for an enjoyable read. 4 Stars #2OCCMS
