Rate this book
The explosive new prequel to the much anticipated Dark Days of the After series.

America is changing fast.  Cities are becoming dangerous.  Time to bug out…

Security Engineer, Logan Cahill, and a woman who may or may not be his girlfriend, Skylar Madigan, live together, but only because it makes their conspiring that much easier.  Logan, like Skylar, is tormented by the notion that time is running out for America. As the nation spins perilously out of control and foreign forces make their foothold in the country known, Logan is tasked with investigating the mysterious Harper Whitaker, a programmer he believes to be working under false pretenses.  Is she caught up in cyber espionage, or something darker?  And how does Skylar fit in with this?  Has she been using him to get to Harper?

Things are not as they seem, and the lid is about to blow off the whole city, maybe even the country.  The question that plagues Logan is the question of when, and how.  When does he bug out?  How will he survive a total collapse of society?  The good news is, Skylar has a plan and Harper just might be a part of it.  Will they be able get off the grid before all hell breaks loose?  The apocalypse is coming, which means the end is near…

The USA is overrun by China, Mexico etc and one nerdy guy learns what revolution is about. Very good book that kept me reading to the end. Really good characters and this book leaves you looking for the next one in the series. I enjoyed it and it is an original plot.

There is peace in relinquishing control.

Enjoyed the book. Kind of eye opening that this could happen if the leftist political climate continues.

This statement is the premise of the whole book. ....and we are allowing this one law at a time. Incidents happen, poof..a new law.
"You think the apocalypse is going to be a world of zombies and starvation, the heart of a nation roasted to a hard cinder? It won’t be. It will be a lot worse. Long after the embers of our dead world blink out, the remembrance of freedom will live in our hearts, torturing us with what once was, what will never again be. That will be worse than any hell you or I can imagine. We must not let that happen."

Fav quote : “Losers are always making excuses for themselves. Are you a loser, Logan?” “No,” he’d replied. “Then stop acting like one."

The prequel to Days of The After. Tells the story of how Logan went from fearful pawn of the Chinese to lynchpin of the resistance. Not knowing his own girlfriend (sort of) was an infamous resistance infiltrator and grooming him to help them, he discovers one of the people he's charged with spying on is indeed a dissident. Before he can turn them in, however, all those feelings of rage and resentment against his Chinese overlords are given an outlet. Unwittingly or not, he realizes fighting back was exactly what he needed to be doing all along.

It gets the blood boiling.

The Last Light of Day is the Prequel to A Dark Days of the After series and I'm so glad I came across it before really getting stuck into the series. It is an action-packed page-turner with a lot of death. It has a way of getting me worked up and there were times when my blood was boiling over. Definitely read this before the series. I loved the story and the characters grew on me.

I loved the new type of twist this story gives to the end of America as we know it. The struggles of the characters to live their lives in a totalitarian regime controlled by China is remarkable. One character, Logan finds himself torn at first but then finds a new path to follow as things begin to heat up. I loved the story and can't wait to read the next in the series.

Recommend this

An actionfilled stand-out beginning that makes me want to read on to know what happens. It's very unique as opposed to others in the genre.
Some editorial errors!? Or grammar misses...made a few really odd sentences, enough to notice, which put the stars down to 3 only. However the storyline is good enough to like and read,I recommend it!!

I NEVER leave reviews (but always rate) the books I finish, but I had to comment on this series. It is absolutely eerie how true to life this series is as relates to what is happening in our country at this very moment. If you want to understand how a country falls from the inside, absolutely read this series.

Outstanding

The prequel was an interesting look at what happened in the beginning. Now knowing what started all this is going to be just the beginning. I am glad that Logan is the way he is now.

Great story

I really loved this book because it could actually happen if we don’t watch ourselves . Logan became a badass and it was really cool to watch his character develop.

Sunset

It all starts with a subtle nod to the Swann series, then quickly darkens. It’s a new age, a deadly age, very little light remains...
