One of the hardest parts of "The Christian Life" is matching our spiritual intentions with the reality of life's chaotic busyness. This book is an amazing tool for anyone (like myself) who has ever wanted to live life more in sync with Jesus but can't seem to find the time. Here are some of the things I loved most about the book:

[+] BIBLE BASED: I LOVE that this book is clearly based on Biblical principles. Rather than using Biblical references to affirm his own ideas and perspective, each chapter and topic starts with a Biblical foundation, and is developed further by the author’s clear understanding and appreciation of Scripture.

[+] WRITING STYLE: While the topic and scope of this book is anything but simple, the writing style was very approachable and easy to understand. Distracted is laid out and flows in a way that is clear, easy to understand, and impactful. I especially appreciate the bullet lists, section titles, and formatting that help to break down each idea into bite size nuggets of wisdom.

[+] PRACTICALITY: I love the practical examples used throughout this book, and the reflection questions provided at the end of each chapter. For me, these help to transition the book from being an academic exercise into a practical interaction with the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and my distracted imperfect priorities.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book, and I pray that it will help you to start seeing and overcoming the distractions of everyday life to have a more fulfilling relationship with Jesus.

As Christians in this modern world in which we find ourselves, we often let the distractions of life get in the way of the need of serving and glorifying God. We fail to devote any significant time to Him outside of our weekly attendance at church because our work or hobbies get in the way, our kids need to be taken to soccer practice, or any other number of a thousand excuses. Pastor Burkhead sheds light on this in a very profound and understanding way. What he is able to do through his writing in this book is give us the tools we need that makes us want to grow more spiritually-minded, drive a passionate desire to seek out God in all that we do, and give God the time and devotion that he so deserves as the Creator of all things.

I highly recommend this book and I could easily see using this as a daily devotional that supplements our reading of the Word.

Great book, packed with TRUTH, wrapped in love, not condemning but definitely makes you take a step back and think. And then surrender these different areas over to Christ for TRUE healing.

This book showed me things that I put in front of God. Sherman puts lots of truth from scriptures. If your a new Christian or have had the Lord in your life for a long time this is a book that will bring you closer in your relationship with Jesus.
