Lilac - Yesha Fernando: An example of a new approach in literature......
A review of this book in English is shared below.
Yesha Fernando's 'Lilac' costs Rs. 400, and have 96 pages is an innovative approach to literature.
This book contains free-verse poetry and prose.
Syringa vulgaris (lilac or common lilac) is a species of flowering plant in the olive family Oleaceae, native to the Balkan Peninsula, where it grows on rocky hills.
Mo. La. Senavirathne (මො.ල. සෙනවිරත්න) in his preface to this literary work emphasizes the value of this book as follows,
"Lilac invites us into a romantic atmosphere or space.
Life expects an enjoyment of experiences.
Therefore it is vital to share your feelings, not through pressure but a positive spark of emotions through aesthetics."
In the prose passages of this book many deep and complex human situations are depicted in a beautiful manner.
The freedom of love and humanity is felt throughout this book.
Poetry is filled with creativity and humor.
I gladly invite literature lovers to read lilac because of its simplicity and humanity.

යේෂා ෆර්නැන්ඩු ගේ ලිලැක් යනු රු. 400 කට මිල කර ඇති පිටු 96ක් පුරා දිව යන සාහිත්යමය නව්යතාවයකට උදාහරණයකි.
මෙම කෘතිය තුළ ගද්යය මෙන්ම පද්යය ද ඇතුළත් වේ.
ලිලැක් යනු දම් පැහැති මල් වර්ගයකි.
මෙම කෘතියට මො.ල. සෙනවිරත්න ලියන පෙරවදනේදී මෙම ග්රන්ථයේ ඇති වැදගත්කම පහත ලෙස උපුටා දැක්විය හැක.
"ඉතිහාස කතන්දර දිගේ, කලබල සිහින මැද්දේ තමන්ගේ රිද්මයට ගලන්න පුළුවන් ජීවිතයක් කියන්නේම අපුරු සිත්තමක්.
අත්දැකීම්, මේ මොහොතේ අත් විඳින දේ සහ අනාගත සිහින ගැන කියන්න හැමෝටම උවමනාවක් තියෙන්න පුළුවන්.
ලිලැක් අපව කැඳවන්නේ ප්රේමනීය අවකාශයකටයි. එහි ඇති වැදගත්ම දේ මිනිස් හුස්ම-ජීවය ඒ තුළ තිබිමයි. ප්රානවාසි මිනිසුන් අතර සැරිසරන විට මිනිස් සබඳතා ඉරි ගසා වෙන් කළ නොහැක්කක්.
ඒ බැව් වටහා ගන්නා අසමත් වීමෙන් අපි කරන්නේ විඳවීමක්. ජීවිතය ඉල්ලා සිටින්නේ විඳීමක්.
කලා-සංස්කෘතික වැඩබිම ගොඩනැගෙන්නේ මෙතනදියි. තමන්ව රිලැක්ස් කරගන්න අනෙකා මත පීඩනය පටවනවා වෙනුවට අනෙකාවද ස්පාර්ක් කරමින් සංස්කෘතික මිනිසෙක් බිහිවෙන්නේ එතනින්."
මෙහි එන ගද්යය තුළ මනුෂ්ය ජීවිතයේ සියුම් හා සංකීර්ණ අවස්ථා ගැඹුරු ලෙස විවරණය කර ඇත.
ආදරයේ නිදහස හා මනුෂ්යත්වය මෙම ලේඛනයේ සෑම වචනයක් පුරාම දිව යයි.
පද්යයන් තුළ ඇති හාස්යය සහ නිර්මානත්මකභාවය ඉතාම ඉහළයි.
මෙම සරල කුඩා කවි සහ සටහන් එකතුව නුතන සාහිත්යය රසිකයන්ට සතුටින් පරිශීලනය කරන ලෙස යෝජනා කරමි.
