The last time I saw my brother, he told me to run.
So, like a good little princess, I ran away from all that I knew and never looked back. I lived on the literal edge of the realm with a band of gypsies who took me in and showed me my true self.
Now, centuries later, I've returned to take a seat on the Infernal Council. I should be excited to be making waves as the first woman on the council. Instead, I'm faced with the aftermath of the realm being led by a tyrant and a bunch of close-minded pricks.
The vampire that should be my biggest ally hates my guts for running away. Will he forgive me or forget about what we once had?
The gargoyle wants to protect what is his. Should he accept me?
The squirrel shifter knows my secret. Will he hoard it like he hoards his nuts?
The brownie has lived a life of solitude. Can he overcome his fears and embrace companionship?
Then there's the archangel who is from Earth. Can he learn to accept our differences even though he asked if I had tentacles growing out of my lady parts?
I like that this series goes alongside the Celestial Academy books!
In this book, we meet Samara, a royal demon who is trying to take back the crown that belongs to her family. If you’ve read the Celestial Academy books, you know how Reve (her brother) went into Inferna to get back Lucifer, Oliver, and Danica from Lilith. While she is trying to prove that even though she’s a woman, she’s capable of ruling hell. She has her best friend who won’t reciprocate her love, a vampire she was once betrothed to, and a Jaguar-gargoyle guard, a loyal brownie who is one of the last of his kind, and an archangel with her. As they figure out what happened to the missing councilman, and why there’s abnormal vacants, Samara finds that the lightning that keeps striking her from the frequent storms might be giving her some sort of powers, but what kind? That kind of information could be deadly if it lands in the wrong hands.
It’s a wonderful story that kept me turning pages. I was captivated with the storyline and the progression of each character was truly fantastic! Can’t wait for the next book

Abandoned a quarter of the way in. Started off interesting and well written but by the time the second main male character was introduced it just became a little too ridiculous, and the writting style changed enough that it put me off.
I love all the character in this book! And the ups and downs are insane! There was a few spot that I did not see coming and I love not being able to predict a book. This was a fantastic book that's for sure!
I loved the series this is a spin-off of so I just had to dive back into this world with this book. I love Sammie she is such a fun character and I love the uniqueness of all the male characters and Sammie. How many other books to do see that has a Muscular male character that is a squirrel shifter in basically hell and a curse panther shifter that is also a gargoyle because of the curse. I really enjoyed the new look at this world but also the crossover with the characters from the previous series. Looking forward to book 2!!!
Very good read - could barely put it down (salt had to to tend to my 2 year old but finished it once she was in bed!!) and can’t wait for the next one. Love everything by Maya Nicolle!
What an amazing read! I can’t believe it ended like that I need more! I love everything about it and Sammy and her guys. So many twists and turns the story that’s created is simply wonderful. Excited to read the next book.
This is the first book that I have read from this author and it was amazing. A good plot, unique, and fantastic characters. I can't wait to see what's next and to check out her other books.
I loved this book!! I thought it was unique (a badass squirrel shifter!!) and was a joy to read. I devoured it in one sitting. It might just be my favorite book of the year!
Wow, just wow! This book had me with a squirrel shifter who likes to collect nuts and protects the FMC fiercely! Then throw in a sexy Vampire, brute gargoyle/panther shifter, stuttering Brownie and a delicious arch angel... couldn’t ask for anything better! Loved the lead Samara so much, as she felt real and authentic, with a love for all the guys that I understood. Loved the twists and turns that the story had and am so sad this books over! But knowing book 2 is out and I can jump back in has me super stoked! Must read guys!!
4.1 stars. I’m really enjoying this series so far.
It’s really fast paced. More so than I expected honestly and it sort of threw me for a bit.
I think I’ll hold my thoughts for now though. I want to know more before saying anything. It’s So fast paced, I’m not even sure where it’s all going. The path I thought we were on ended already, sending us down another.
Wow! What a great story! Loved Samara, Nico, Val, Amari and Kage. And the surly archangel too! Really cool premise - a princess long lost with unexplainable power back to claim the throne? Thwarting those that want to take the power for themselves and connecting with old and new Love interests? Yes! BAdarse FMC with magic, snark and steam. Definitely can’t wait to read more!
Loved this book! I don’t think I’ve ever read about a squirrel shifter. So fun to read about. Many great new shifter, demons, angels etc.. it touches on everything! Great book and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
Omgosh, I never thought of a squirrel shifter. It's FN hilarious. So what does a Squirrel, Vampire and a Gargoyle have in common? Read the book and hang on tight.
Well I loved this book. It was fast paced all of it was from the romance (in different ways), to the action, the problems, the revelations. It was like there was always something new but in a good way. I love reverse harem, why choose romance and I'm not sure how I didn't know about this one but it is a true gem and I'm so glad I found it. This author has done a wonderful job weaving a tale to keep you on your toes, building a world with so many layers, and complex characters In already calling in love with. This story is paranormal, and it mostly stays true to what these monsters should be but with a twist, turn or little extra flair to keep things interesting. The romance and passion is seriously hot(there is m/m and group moments which I love). Every character has depth and personality and I have yet to see any place holder type characters. All the guys, I don't even know where to start but I have nothing to complain about and I can't wait to learn more about them. Seriously I don't want to ruin it or give anything away because it's really great to go into this story kind of 'blind' if you will. What I will say is if you like reverse harem/why choose, paranormal, romance, adventure, urban fantasy or any thing similar give this a shot. A very good book would recommend & I can't wait to see what's next!
This book is shitty. Half of it is cause it’s a spin off and unless you’ve read the celestial academy or whatever it’s called series, you don’t understand some major parts. Other half is just it’s plain old shitty. Talk about excessive insta-lust and TSTL. *eye roll*
Infuse is the first book in the Infernal Council series by Maya Nicole.
The writing: Is the first and foremost mark against this series. It’s very disjointed, and robotic sounding almost. Not only in writing style, but the way in which the story flows as well. Transitioning between individual scenes was very stiff. Slightly disappointing.
And the dirty talk is practically instant, starting on basically the second page of the first chapter. For Nico and Samara, who aren’t having sex even though they both deeply desire to, they talk a lot about each other’s genitals. It got a little ridiculous.
Then there’s her first sex scene with two of the men. Where they start going at it on the beach I’m clear view of her and Nico, and since he won’t take her to bed she joins them? With barely any provocation having taken place in the story line.
I, however, enjoyed each of the men’s contrasting and individual personalities. Which, as you should know by now, is a defining grading component for me.
The men: Nico, her (nearly)life long friend, a squirrel shifter. They each care deeply for one another but due to Nico’s loss of his previous mate they never truly crossed over into such a relationship. He was definitely infuriating. Val, her childhood lover and once fiancée before the night of her parents murder, the vampire demon. I feel for these two the most, honestly. Maybe with exception to the relationship between that of Val and Amari. Amari, Val’s only long term relationship after she fled, a weird hybrid of panther shifter and gargoyle. Truly the most interesting and unique in nature. He has some intriguing reactions to the unnatural and overwhelming light magic Sammy possesses. Kage, as yet only Nico and her brownie and a potential harem love interest. He’s so sweet and strong. He spends his entire life fighting through nearly equates to transferable-ptsd and a deep seated fear of being discovered. Raphael, an acquaintance of her brother Reve, and Archangel. They yet to really explore this instant bond they share, but I think he will come to be my favorite, or perhaps tied with Kage. He’s professed to never having been in love. Let’s unpack that please.

Loved this book! It’s great seeing things from the demons perspective of Infernal after learning about them in the Celestial Academy series. Sammy has been in hiding after her brother told her to run. After she hears of his return she return home as well. She finds herself in the middle of a takeover and anyone can be an enemy. The characters are unique and do not necessarily like one another. We have a squirrel shifter who has always been picked on, we have a panther shifter who has been cursed as a gargoyle, a vampire prince, a brownie and an archangel. Sammy is not sure what she is and is holding lots of secrets. It seems that they all have some secrets and will have to decide if they can trust in one another for the fate of Inferna. Multiple POVs. Very Steamy. Hot MM.
I really wanted to like this one but unfortunately it was only okay.
First off, the story and idea were great and I would have loved it to have been more detailed because it’s different than the books I’ve read lately.
The problems: all the characters were very surface level, all the guys into girl situation, and they were never in one place long enough to get to know anyone or anything other than maybe one sentence each time.
The positives: loved the combinations of different personalities, loved the quickness of the story even though sometimes was a hindrance to the information, and loved the mystery behind the things that were happening.
Overall, I probably won’t read the next one but this was a good book for a quick read and something different than the usual supernaturals in reverse harems.
This is a good start with good potential, and I know it says fast burn but i thought it’d be only in relation to the relationships. It’s not one of my favorite things, but some instances were done good. The plot moves really quickly, to the point where i wasn’t sure if i had missed something or a prequel novella. I wish there had been more of a backstory with what had happened and with how much time passes from the prologue to the first chapter. Also, everyone seemingly takes Sammy back when she goes back home and no one has any questions if it’s been centuries? Her brother barely spares her a glance lol.
I also wish there had just been more character development with their personalities. I did like that there are multiple POVs.
I spent a lot of this book feeling as though I missed something being said or explained at some time. I mean I’m going to check out the authors page now to see if there’s a series prior to this one that explains some things or not because I was lost when it came to Reve and even Taylor. So yeah, this series has potential, but right now there’s a big gap of information missing that’d have made this a lot more enjoyable
ETA: I see that the goodreads description does say this is a spin-off from another series, would be nice if Amazon had listed that as well. I don’t enjoy reading spin-offs that link so closely to an original series without reading the original series first.
Soooo, I didn't realize this was a spinoff initially. I couldn't understand why things were happening so fast in the beginning: heroine has to escape, heroine comes back, bad guy is defeated, savior leaves.
However, I do still think the book was rushed. We barely get to spend time with the characters - which is a pity, they seem interesting. Honestly, the boom went downhill for me : characters acting out for no reason, male interests being introduced and then kind of fading in the background, a conspiracy pops up and then fizzles out, characters going around in circles with their attitude...
All in all, this is not a standalone series. And if you're ok with little character development, then you should like it.
Samara older brother told her to run and she did. Her family was all slaughtered and she was in hiding. But how older brother was captured by Lilith and tortured, he got out. On the night Samara run for her life strange things happened and she was found by a squirrel shifter that ended up becoming her best friend. The gypsies they're staying with need someone on the council to speak up for them. Samara knows that this could lead to them knowing that she's alive she has to help her people. Things start to unfold and Samara is trying to figure it all out. Throw in her feelings for all these guys and she got alot on her plate.
I did like this, the plot and the setting of Inferna were interesting. From the little bit that I have previously read of Sammy I really liked her so I was super excited to read her books. The guys are interesting to say the least, I did enjoy them all and I like how they are all different types of demon/angels which gives them each individuality and makes it easier to keep them all separate. I really do enjoy Maya's books, they are all very easy to read and fast paced and this one was no different. Overall I really did enjoy this and I can't wait to see what happens next for Sammy and her guys.
