Richard Rybicki was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He joined the Chicago Police Department in 1977 and served 29 years, retiring in 2006. During his career he was assigned to a wide variety of positions including: Patrol Officer, Tactical Officer, Gang Crime Specialist, Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. The bulk of his career was spent in the Detective Division serving as a Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. At the time of his retirement he was assigned as the Commanding Officer of the Area Three Homicide/Sex Crimes unit on the north side of the city. Having fallen in love with Florida’s gulf coast over the years, he and his wife relocated to the Sarasota area in 2006. Soon after, he began teaching. He shared his expertise and knowledge with his students at a small, private university until 2011 when he retired for a second time. He and his wife Sharon have two grown children, Andrew and Timothy, and still live near Sarasota and the crystal sands of Florida’s gulf coast.
Rybicki delivers again with his third "Laska" thriller. Good story, engaging dialogue, compelling characters make for a most enjoyable read. Book four will be a must read for me.
