Waste of Handsome

Rate this book
He can bring the heat, but she’s a curveball he never saw coming…

Hannah

My plan is sound: Fix the major league ballplayer’s PR crisis and ignore the annoying crush I have on the cocky jerk. I’ve had a front-row seat to how he conducts his personal life for years, and I want nothing to do with it—no matter how hot he is, or how weak he makes my knees. But my sound plan crumbles as I spend time with him and discover that maybe—just maybe—Jack Reagan’s more than a waste of handsome.

Jack

Baseball is my life. I don’t have time for unnecessary drama. So when my ex-girlfriend publishes a tell-all book, I know I need Hannah Adams. She’s worked PR magic for my team in the past, and I need all the help I can get to repair my reputation. Once the job’s done, all I’ll be left to figure out is…when did Hannah turn into a sexy-as-hell woman who makes me want things—forever kind of things—I never wanted from any other woman?

It’s the bottom of the ninth. Will Hannah and Jack go deep, or strike out for good?

A baseball sports-related romance that puts Jack, the shortstop for the Waves and Hannah, the PR representative for the Waves together. They've known each other from a business distance for ten years. She's had a major crush from afar. Finally, when Jack's near-wrecked career is basically in her hands for safekeeping, he wakes up and finds a himself with a whole lot more than baseball in his future.

Fun-to-read with several really well-written trips to the baseball diamond included and an opposites attract match-up that turns into a homerun. I really liked Jack and Hannah, along with some very entertaining secondaries. I'll definitely add another Waves' game to my schedule.

Jack is a professional baseball player who has always been cautious about the woman he lets into his life. Due to his past he likes to keep his relationships casual however the last woman he was involved with has chosen to write an expose and he finds himself trying to deal with the media fallout.

Hanna works in the PR department for the team and has been tasked with remaking his image. As a result they find themselves spending time together and she realizes that there is much more to the charming athlete than she believed and for the first time Jack realizes that relationships don’t require an end date.

Both Jack and Hanna are dealing with some family issues which creates some turmoil, but I enjoyed seeing Jack open his heart to Hanna and realize he doesn’t have to shoulder everything alone. I listed to an audio copy of this story and enjoyed the performance of the narrators as they brought the characters and their journey to life.

CR. We know CR books tend to have sexual: innuendos
+ actions. I preferred this sexy couple more out of bed
than in. It was emotionally satisfying.

This featured MLB shortstop Jack whose female squeeze
wrote a tell-all RE their time together. And the team's
PR lady Hannah who the owner charged with doing a
media blitz w/ Jack. Jack knew Han as efficient and not
his type, until she was. Jack and Han spent more official
time together to achieve the purpose of the owner.

Han created fundraiser events for nonprofits favored by
Jack such as MADD, which also gave baseball fans +
experiences w/ Jack. Jack + Han both carried emotional
baggage related to their dads.

Jack went from a serial monogamist to a man crazy in love.
IMO, the emotions shared was the best part. Kudos to his
supportive friends/ teammates.

Oh my, Jack and Hannah are probably one of my all time favorite book couples. Tina Gallagher hit a grand slam with this baseball romance! The characters are relatable and their chemistry is palpable. The baseball scenes are thorough and make you feel like you are at the ballpark. I’ve read all the books in the series and am anxiously awaiting the next!

Waste of Handsome by Tina Gallagher is a sports romance that I listed to on audio narrated by Michael Gallagher and Juniper Young. This is the second book in the Carolina Waves series and can be read as a standalone.

This is the first book of Tina's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Jack and Hannah. I liked that we got both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Michael and Juniper did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like contemporary romances or sport romances.

I love Baseball - I love the sport, reading books about it, playing it (in my mind) - and I love author's that actually write about it and know what they are talking about! This is one of the best series I have found and read so far! I love the characters, the plots, the baseball stats, the overall vibe and best of all there are lots of players for the author to write about! I hope the series continues for a long time!

This is the perfect book for that long winter of no baseball - and best of all the story takes us to Florida for spring training! If you love baseball and reading then this is the series for you!! Grab this one and all of the others and be prepared to fall in love!

Waste of Handsome is the first book that I have read by the author Tina Gallagher. It definitely didn't leave me lacking! This is a sweet rom com that will give you everything from the laughs and steam to the serious and touching. I absolutely love sports rom coms and this one did not disappoint! Hannah is a PR person for the Waves baseball team. She loves her job and tries to fly under the radar and out of the lime light. Jack is the top player for the Waves and has gotten himself into a bit of hot water. He needs Hannah's good PR to get him back to being known for his skills on the field and not the false accusations from a bitter ex. He's known to be quite the player both on and off the field. The only problem is Hannah has been secretly harboring a crush on him for YEARS! Will these two with pasts that leave them jaded be able to overcome everything and find love? I won't spoil it and tell you. You need to read to find out. You won't regret it. I can't wait to read this authors other books! If you love sports rom com then you NEED to add this book to your collection. I for one need to see what happens with the other characters you get introduced to in this book!

Extra Innings, Based Loaded

This novel was a homerun on so many levels! First, I was Impressed with the author's ability to convey the subtltIes of the game of baseball in terms I could easily understand. Second, I was Immediately drawn into the protagonists love story because they were so believable. Finally, how could I not be totally captivated by the end game!!!!!

Loved it

I didn't really understand Jack's philosophy in the first book about Dan and Sabrina, but it makes total sense now. It's so true though, how we can be around someone and not see them until it's time. I love the relationship between Jack and Hannah. Loved the ending especially!

Waste of Handsome: Carolina Waves Series Book 2
Tina Gallagher

This is the first book that I have read by this author, and it certainly will not be the last. I plan to go back and read the first book, and read the rest of the series as they come out. I did not have a problem following this book so I believe they can be read as a stand alone. Some of the characters carry over, so I'm sure I would know more back story had I read them in order. This book captured my attention from page 1 and kept it the entire book. I loved both Jack and Hannah - they were real people. Hannah and Jack have known each other and worked together for 10 years, but Jack really never noticed her until an event they attended to give him good PR. Hannah had noticed and been secretly in lust with Jack for all that time. I loved that the interactions between the two (and everyone) seemed so natural and like it could happen in real life. The details about baseball were awesome, and made me feel like I was at the ballpark. I loved Jack's interactions with kids and most especially Lexi. I loved how he treated her and how she was always so excited to see him. Oh and I can't forget Hannah's elderly neighbor, Mrs. Button's. She was hysterical in that she loved Jack and was not afraid to ogle him and let him know it. I hope I can be as funny and out there as her when I am her age. Bonus for me was the baseball team Jack played for was located in Myrtle Beach, which I absolutely love. Jack and Hannah made it through a lot of obstacles during their relationship - the tell -all book about him, Hannah's dad and her past. I really look forward to reading more of these to see how Hannah and Jack are doing. And let me tell you, Jack would be an amazing guy to have - not only is he handsome, he cooks and cleans up the dishes and knows how to take care of his woman. He is my new book boyfriend! You seriously should pick this one up and read it!

Unfortunately, I had a very tough time making it through this title. The story line is decent. The writing style is okay. My big struggle came from the editing. A poorly edited title will shove my brain out of the story expeditiously, and that happened in this title. Repeatedly.

The biggest issue fell during the dialogue driven sections. Several locations, where an exchange of quick conversation took place, multiple dialogues fell within a single paragraph. I'm talking about lines from differing characters. My brain had to dissociate from the story, mentally correct the layout, and read it again as it should have been before I could move to the next part. This occurred so many times in the first few chapters that I almost DNF'd this title. Almost, but I persevered.

My 5 points I grade on: Story Line / Writing Style / Editing / Spice-to-story ratio / Drive to finish

The story line: This felt on par with nearly every sports-based romance I've read to date. I appreciated that the author did not cross certain lines for these characters (i.e. keeping the 'activity' out of the office). I appreciated even more that she showed a character who could still function in a professional capacity around her love interest and was not simply overcome with her attraction.

Writing style: The way it was written (beyond the editing issues) was decent enough to keep the story moving.

Editing: As mentioned above, I was very distracted by the editing issues. (-1 star)

The spice-to-story ratio: Most of these scenes fell in a natural rhythm, meaning that the spicy scenes did not feel as if the author had to shoe horn them into the story just to say it was spicy.

Drive to finish: It took me multiple days to finish this title, which I should have been able to accomplish in a single sitting. So, unfortunately, I was not driven to finish this title. The story was okay, but it wasn't strong enough to keep me 100% interested. (-1 star)

Waste of Handsome
Carolina Waves #2
by Tina Gallagher
Narrated by Michael Gallagher, Juniper Young

Jack's reputation is at stake. This shortstop has a tell all book coming out and to combat the bad publicity, Hannah has been assigned to set it all straight. She has had a crush on this arrogant player for years, and now, years after being in the same work circles, Jack is taking notice. This is a sweet and spicy sports romance. Tina Gallagher has written a sweet and spicy sports romance that captured my heart. She leads us on a journey that is fun to be on, from the secret rendezvous to the interactions with kids. And we can't forget the secondary characters, my favorite being Mrs Buttons! It's a great, easy listen, not too angsty, full of passion and an all around feel good love story.

Michael Gallagher and Juniper Young are our story tellers, and they are fantastic. Gallagher is a favorite of mine, and he always falls into character creating a realistic personality. He uses his inflections to give us just enough emotion to know Jack. Juniper Young is new to me, and as Hannah, I go a wonderful feeling from her portrayal. She knows her role, gives the emotion and made great story. These two made my weekend.

The only things that I didn't enjoy in this novel were the baseball game descriptions, but that's just because I am not a fan and didn't understand all the references. This is a sweet romance read of two people who have known each other for 10 years, but who only discover their attraction to each other after being forced to spend time together. After a tell all book is released about Jack, the owner of the Waves decides that some good PR is needed to counteract the book and it's writers effect. In steps, Hannah and her recommendations for how to go about upping Jack's goodness factor. Jack decides that if he has to go to all these new functions then Hannah has to attend, too and because of this, Jack begins to see Hannah in a whole new light. The attraction between them grows stronger the more time they spend together, but will their feelings be strong enough to withstand all the challenges that are headed their way. Enjoy the book and learn the answer in this second installment in the Carolina Waves series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was so cute and a lot of fun to read! I loved both Hannah and Jack, especially together! It was a shame they had to wait 10 years to get together but that what happens when one of the people were focused on the game and not the hot PR rep. Hannah has definitely noticed Jack but never said anything. Jack is the star and golden boy of the Waves baseball team. He has a lot of secrets but when a book comes out, things get shaken up a bit. Hannah has a way of moving things along and making Jack look good. I must say while I loved Jack, Hannah, Cal, Dan and the rest of the crew but Hannah's neighbor had me laughing so hard. She had a crush on Jack and wasn't afraid to oogle and talk about his attributes lol. These two were incredibly adorable together and even when things came up, they handled them like adults. Sure Jack had a blonde moment but he made up for it in a big way. Even finding out about Hannah's secret couldn't break them apart, it only made them closer. I really did love everything about this book and want to read more from this author.

ONE EXCITING WHIRLWIND!!!
One exciting treat! Tina hits pay dirt, blazing the fields and mastering the game, fusing this little gem together fluidly. Amazing well rounded scenario's that punch dead center with such intensity and glittering precision, blowing this baby wide open. Seizing the moment, hurdling the trials and tribulations with such exuberance and style, thrusting this gem into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, blasting it into a tailspin with shocking results. Sparks fly as drama, intrigue and suspense spirals, adding the thrill of the chase rocking this baby to the core. The chemistry and attraction is undeniable and palpable as it transforms into an unbreakable bond. The personalities are well matched and blended with just enough flaws for diversity. The characters and scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and colorful descriptions so rich and lively, they blend and flow magnificently. Remarkable job Tina, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

I’m really sad about Waste of Handsome by Tina Gallagher; I found that the beginnings of the book were really well executed and that Hannah and Jack’s characters were both sexy and full of fun. I think both of them had lots of baggage to overcome that really made you feel like they had to fight to let themselves fall in love.

I didn’t mind the twists although I did find that a couple of them were pretty obvious. My upset with this book comes from the ending, I thought that it was rushed and didn’t really feel quite like the characters anymore. (Jack did a 180 turn that didn’t feel very conceiving at all.)

I was really quite saddened that we didn’t get to see a epilogue that showed Hannah and Jack into the future. If its a HEA I want to see the characters still in love and happy. I felt like I just got a lot of questions at the end. Really wish there was more.

Would’ve been four stars but three things:
1. I struggled to truly feel the connection between the two of them and I think it was mainly due to the MMC.
2. The drama with her Dad wasn’t handled good enough for me for the severity of the situation. Her best friend and father started dating and we’re together behind this girls back for over a year and didn’t tell her until they were engaged with a baby on the way. I felt like the timing was deliberate and manipulative so if she acted like a bitch and cut them off, she’d be the bad guy because she’d be cutting an innocent child off as well, her own baby brother. I wouldn’t told them to kiss my ass personally.
3. The whole break up drama at the end was stupid and childish and honestly didn’t make much sense.

Sighs. Such a great book. Amazing story. Loveable and interesting characters.
Every emotion possible ties this into one of my favorite books of the year thus far. And I've already read quite a few.
Hannah and Jack's story will absolutly leave you wanting more. This story follows Hannah, head of PR for a baseball team and her secret crush, Jack, a star player for the team she works for. So many twists and turns. Crazy, crazy, moments make this one fun book to read. I'm hooked. I cant wait to read the next one on another character in this book. A home run for sure. 5/5. Grab it!

Super sweet

Hannah works for the Waves for years and has a crush on Jack. Jack has always had a girl for the season and then dumps them before the next one starts. Jack had an ex write a book about him and the owner wants Jack to go out and show a better side of him. Jack requested for Hannah to be with him all the time. Jack has no clue what a beautiful woman she is till now. There’s a few things that come out about Hannah and Jack. Will they live a happily ever after? Sparks start but will they last longer than a season?

Jack is a star for the Waves baseball team. He is a handsome athlete that flits through a woman a season. Hannah is the PR guru for the Waves team.
She is called to aide Jack after his reputation is put to the test in a tell all book from an ex.
Hannah has crushed on Jack for years from the bleachers. As she helps Jack he discovers that there is more to life and love than a season.
This baseball romance checks of every base in a grand slam way.
Awesome characters, great dialogue and storyline. I am volunteering to leave a review for this book.

Hannah has had a crush on Jack for as long as she can remember. Jack has known Hannah for ten years, and in those years, he has never really looked at her until now. I fell in love Jack the minute I knew he was a baseball player. All his qualities are front and center in this story and once he realizes how much he wants Hannah, there’s no turning back. Hannah’s neighbor is exactly how I hope to be if I ever become a widow.

This author knows baseball and we are treated with lots of detail that had me sitting at the game. Great story! Love the characters and perfect as Spring training is around the corner.

A great baseball story. Hannah works in the PR department of Carolina Waves and has known Jack for ten years and has had a crush on him for most of those. It takes a book written by his ex girlfriend to make him see her in a different light. She is told by the owner that she needs to push his PR to make the public ignore or rubbish the book. Turns out her father is a famous actor who has fallen for her best friend. Their road to HEA is a tad rocky due to his father not coping with the death of his mother and her freaking out about her father and best friend. This is a must-read page-turner.

Main Characters: Hannah and Jack
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
4 1/2 out of 5 stars
I loved this story. These two m/c have known each other for a good amount of years but it is not until Jack has a problem with his pr that we get to see Hannah needing to help him out. Great characters and a really good, sweet story. I would love to read more books by this author.
