Too many sweets can cause tooth decay, cavities... and death.
Valentine’s Day with the NYPD: love is in the air, alimony payments are due, and a two-timing dentist is dead after a bad batch of holiday chocolate. As the detectives follow the chocolate trail back to its source, they uncover a rich assortment of suspects. Every step of the investigation reveals new motives, secrets, and agendas.
Meanwhile, Detective Erin O’Reilly is trying to juggle the demands of the case with her ongoing relationship, but mixing business and pleasure can get complicated. Carlyle’s Irish Mob colleagues have agendas of their own, and it’ll take all of Erin’s ingenuity and guts, along with her K-9 partner Rolf’s trusty teeth, to chew their way to the heart of the mystery.
Steven Henry is the USA Today bestselling author of the Erin O’Reilly mysteries and the Clarion Chronicles.
Steven learned how to read almost before he learned how to walk. Ever since he began reading stories, he wanted to put his own on the page. He lives a very quiet and ordinary life in Minnesota with his wife and dog.
There's no way to rate Steven Henry's books any higher! I love them so much, I want to read everything he has put out! His growth as an author is growing in leaps and bounds. His knowledge of subject matter and history is superb. They are so well written, high level vocabulary, no nasty or explicit language, but I think a wide variety of ages of never vacksd therefore still have their souls intact, people, will enjoy them. Bless you, Dear Steven. I just bought the next in series and even though I had promised to try to stop reading, I can't!! It's just past midnight and it's a New Year! God bless Steven Henry! Grant us peace and end the Track and Trace shots! Give us the stamina to fight for each other like Proud Irish!
3 murders, an ever changing suspect list, and a drug raid thrown in for good measure. No shots fired this time around, or anyone blown up. Erin has put herself into quite the predicament getting involved with Carlyle. What a slippery slope this could be, and on that note cannot wait for the next book. I expect we will see more of Mickey in the future.
A great read on Valentine's day, not! But what a way to go, chocolate ( might have to examine mine before I eat another piece) 😂 Loving how Erin's mind works thru things, plus the interaction with Vic & Webb! Then there's how her life keeps getting more complicated! Another great read with engaging characters, plot twists to keep you guessing till the end!
Again, lots of tight action and detective work with homicides. And Erin is up to her ears trying not to be hooked in with the O’Malley gang. Makes me tense then I remind myself this is fiction. Phew.
Although Valentine's Day has ended, there's still some chocolate out there, and the squad catches a murder. The dead guy is a dentist and the murderer is his younger girlfriend, who is also the girlfriend of a mobster's son. The dentist is naked and has some chocolate mashed into his mouth. The chocolate had been filled with cyanide. But the case isn't solved, as the box of chocolates has been passed through the hands of several people before ending up in the mouth of Dr. Ridgeway. Now Erin and her colleagues have to investigate the Italian mob. Things get even wilder for Erin as she's now considered a dirty cop due to her relationship with Carlyle and she is forced to meet with the head of the Irish mob. As always, there's some humor, a lot of excitement and even worry, as Erin struggles with her feelings for the sexy Irish gangster.
Another good story in the series. Kind of a farce, really, with all the bone-headed screw ups by the characters. The only thing I'm not liking is the romance part of it. Those of you who have read the whole series up till now know what I'm talking about. Sorry, but I'm not one of those guys who believe, "Love will find a way." I've become more cynical in my old age. Such a relationship, out in the real world and in the fictional one, will not come to a good end.
I do love detective story's and especially ones with dogs in which is why I love these type of books, and especially Irish in new york, as it reminds me of the television series in the 1865 year I can't remember the name of the series of was about Irish coppers in new york brilliant books.
What a great series!!! I really wish it wasn’t over. The books just kept getting better and I couldn’t wait to start the next one. I hope another series is in the works.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is well written and well thought out. I am eagerly awaiting to see how the relationship between Erin and Carlyle is going to work out. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys reading a good mystery.
I have read all the books in this series, but this was a nice change. No big gun fights and a twisty plot. Am anxious to see what happens with Erin and Cars. Will be looking for the next book!
The ins and outs of being love by a good cop and a good mobster, knowing the line to cross,I can't wait to see what happens next to Erin and carley. See if they stay together or be torn apart.
This is a fairly good series, a bit different with the main characters a police detective and an Irish mob boss in a relationship. The plots are well written and keep you interest making the book hard to put down.
I hope this author writes more books with Erin and Cars as the lead players. I hope they get to live happily, maybe have a child.. This series was GREAT.....
All your favorite characters are back in this one as the Precinct 8 NYPD major crimes unit take on a Valentine's case. But this time, Erin's love life complicates matters. There's just something about Carlyle that she can't refuse. He's handsome, charming, and somehow a good man, despite being a senior member of the O'Malley crime syndicate. Erin struggles a bit to juggle her relationship with her job and tries her best to keep the two separate.
