Sheesh -- the very last scene/paragraph of this book called Joseph "Lincoln," an example of the worst error to overlook in a published story!
The concept of his old flame's offspring becoming Dr. Joseph Nielson's soulmate was intriguing, and while the book was as corny as her other books in this series, it was preferable to the way-too-bizarre and intimate mating themes created by our writer, such as "uncle-stepdad," or " cousin-half-brother. " While there isn't anything wrong with step-siblings marrying each other, especially when neither Kade or Alec knew each other before their parents got together, the idea that there are people who do find something wrong with such a relationship is upsetting. Also, I get that Ms. Hawke pushed the bizarre, questionable and unusual to write this series, I still nearly had a toothache from my teeth grinding while reading Kade's, Zeke's and Marion's stories. The comedy and humor of Kade was just too, too overdone. He was the one character that I couldn't tolerate after one or two snarky comments, and HE ends up with the sexiest, most beautiful of the alphas around? Yes, his two alpha brothers weren't anything close to being losers, but Alec was as gorgeous as Joseph is, aside from being a dozen or so years younger, and he is matched with Kade, who was just so flamboyant! Sorry for whining about Kade and Alec - I just cannot reconcile how Alec fell for him. Laurie, Dusty, and Marion were well-spoken, intelligent, and beautiful; Kade was no less attractive, but when he opened his mouth, I felt tense, and I actually grimaced at his remarks and behaviors. Yes, he has a big heart and was kind and affectionate with all the kids; however, his mouth and attitude were just as huge, overpowering his beautiful heart. I'm unable to overlook tactless comments and offensive body language or attitude, as once voiced, harsh words are never forgotten.
Anyway, this book's about a sweeter, more personable, level headed young omega who is as gorgeous as his alpha. I enjoyed reading this book, in spite of the frequent mistakes and typos (I did take off a star for that - there isn't any excuse for using the wrong name, especially one belonging to one of the other characters, for either of our main characters. This story brought home the idea that fate is not coincidental; rather, events, moments in time, circumstances, happen for a reason and purpose. Joseph was a wonderful, skilled, well-loved and admired as well as respected alpha and doctor. He may have blamed his loneliness on Marion's father, but in reality, he was too busy doing what he loved, and living in solitude despite moments of loneliness, to actually have time for dating and finding someone to settle with. He stayed single, as did Marion, so when Marion's life choices and circumstances brought him to the hometown of his now deceased father, Joseph was available, open to (after initially resisting), and ready to accept that fate had led Marion directly to his soulmate. Lovely resolution. Perfect would have been a story without snarkiness in it.
