Standing With Grace

Rate this book
It is astonishing how much influence one person can have in raising or depressing the spirits of the whole company. Grace Avery’s consistent life of love and conviction has the effect of leaven among her wealthy, worldly friends. Every unselfish act or gentle word has a profound impact on even the most devious chracters.

When the gospel is lived out in simplicity and power, none can resist, for indeed, "when a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone, but if it dies, it will bring much fruit."

This is a beautiful story about a young woman, Grace, who was so unashamed and outspoken about her love for Christ that it changed the lives of those around her. Her unselfish nature was questioned by those who lived for their own pleasures. Her faith was envied by those who had everything but lost hope in the future when loved ones are nearing death. Grace lives her life by the Scripture, "A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough." Her actions and her kind words plant seeds in the hearts of the selfish family she is living with and show them that 'religion' isn't a word she uses lightly.

This is an old book. It is at times slow and meandering. However, it is a very nourishing read as are so many other books that have been rebounded and released through lamplighter.
