Dammit! Did you know chinchillas are mammals, not marsupials?
You know what? Being a freelance journalist is tough. A lot of low paid crap gets thrown at you. Chinchillas for one…don’t ask! The only good thing is getting to do things your way, taking the rough with the smooth.
That’s why I was delighted to hear from Trevor Collins. The guy had just hit the national news for saving a group of kidnapped girls, and he wanted me, Cole, to be the one to tell his story to the world. This was my chance and not a sleazy politician in sight. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the guy was sex on legs and flirting with me from the moment we met.
Right up until he disappeared on me. But when I found him and found out why he was hiding out, things really started getting interesting! In so many ways…

I really love Romeo's most recent thriller books so I could not miss this one.
This novella was nice and entertaining, it has mystery, romance, a coming out story and great chemistry between two sweet and witty characters.
Definitely recommended for a quick read!

Cole is a freelance reporter who gets an interview with a cop named Trevor. He saved some girls from a sex ring. In the middle of the interview Trevor says that something came up and they would have to continue tomorrow. Three days pass and Cole still hasn't heard from Trevor. The more Cole investigates the more questions he has. I really enjoyed this book.

This is a laugh out loud romantic suspense story. Trevor is a small town cop who happened to be in the right place at the right time to break up a trafficking ring. Lauded as a hero, and pursued by everyone for interviews, he calls Cole, a man he believes will do the best job of interviewing him, and invites him to his town. While doing the first day of interviews, Trevor gets a message and leaves, saying he'll be back the next day. Three days later Cole has to go looking to find him. Trevor is hiding out because he's being blackmailed, and they start investigating. And omg, Cole and his assistant are hilarious, Trevor and his mother are smarta**es and Trevor and Cole have the same dry wit. I could have read another 300 pages of dialogue between these characters. And the storyline is fascinating.

Cole is always chasing the next big story. He’s always been full of questions and wants nothing more than to tell the truth.
Trevor is always chasing a little bit of solitude. He became a cop to protect the small town he loves, but when he accidentally busted up a human trafficking ring, the fame of being a hero might chase away what little peace he knows.
It was Trevor’s mama, Shirley, who convinced him that his story need to be told. Common people need to know that they can make a difference. So Trever tracked down Coke, A reporter with some integrity… Then he disappeared mid story.
I really like the gentle giant that is Trevor. Cole, on the other hand, seems a little Squirrley. Together they are quite the mixed pair.

Sometimes, your story is not as bad as you think. Cole is a journalist who relies on old school techniques to ferret out the truth. Trevor is hailed as a hero, but he has a secret. He is deep in the closet. He presumes his hometown, can't handle the truth! Cole is interviewing Trevor to publicize his heroism. Then Trevor disappears and Cole has questions. He will deep dive to find out why his subject left. Will Cole handle Trevor's life with discretion and compassion? Trevor is brave, can he be brave for himself? Nice story, good action, fantastic characters. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Maybe it was me! Even though I enjoyed this story, I felt like there were pieces of it missing from time to time. Just little pieces of information that my brain needed to get the whole picture but they were nowhere to be found.
The "missing pieces" aside... I always found that this author's stories will put a smile on my face and usually they cover issues that need to be brought out into the light of the day. This little mystery brings home the fact that for whatever reason there are still many that don't feel comfortable or safe in being who they truly are... we need to work harder to make this a safer place for everyone!

This was a bit slow to start, but then I was all in and my intrigue and mystery were full on! The way Cole and Trevor bumbled around each other in the beginning like inept teens had me smh. Wth? The mystery centers around jealousy and these two bumpkins finding their way into each other's hearts. The reveal/revenge was so sweet. They didn't see it coming! Karma, pure and simple! Another feel good read.
I liked Alyssa's character , because she kept it real.

The Case of the Disappearing Hero by Romeo Alexander' is a contemporary m/m romance that includes a mystery thriller theme. It is a quick novella but delivers an interesting and entertaining story with intriguing characters. Trevor and Cole are fun, and sweet, and have an enjoyable lovestory to share.
