After visiting Nevada, California, and two Apocalypse Gates, Alvin was tired. With Gothy, and now Kuro, beside him, they faced necromancers, an undead army, and saved a Queen from assassination. Alvin could only wonder what was going to be thrown at them next...First, however, a vacation was in order. Returning to Green River, seeing the first settlement he had helped build, and revisiting old friends was cathartic. Alvin knew that he would not be able to stay long, as something was bound to happen to push them back on the road again.Alvin had to decide where they would go next, and had narrowed it down to two choices—south into Texas, or head north and east into Colorado and maybe the Great Lakes. Either choice would mean meeting new friends, new enemies, or both.

First, my review: “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”

Over the past year it has become apparent that my reviews are somewhat antagonistic and I apologize to those of you that have taken offense. I think I had hoped to change peoples’ minds about reviewing works of art and that seems to have backfired spectacularly. However, I am still going to be true to myself and write what I believe.

To the author: Thank you for this chance to escape reality and enjoy the world you created! Keep up the good work.

To my fellow reviewers: Messaging me and reviewing my reviews is as productive as trying to shovel water out of the ocean. Stop. I get it. Let’s just all live peacefully.

To potential readers: Art needs to be experienced at an individual level. You are the only one that can determine what you like and don’t like. Don’t let others make that decision for you. You should definitely read the book and completely ignore all of the reviews. You are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.

Cheers

Love Apocalypse Gates and Binding Words series!

I haven't been able to get into the Alpha World series but I live AG and BW. This particular AG book was not quite as fulfilling as the other four. Although it was nice to have them reconnect with characters from earlier in the series it was that, a road trip and a way to quick trip into a new world. The new chaeacter, D, is great but I liked the more involved story of when they went to the elven world better.
I can't wait for the next BW book. I went to your website, I'm glad you've become a full time author, because I'd read a new one of these two series as often as possible. I generally read the new story in one sitting. Sometimes I reread the others before reading the new book.

Another good read in the series

So this book lessens the BDSM slightly at the same time increasing the group sex, which I thought was good. What I wasn’t thrilled with is how the world(s) is turning more game-like in each book. I fear I will be inundated with stats and figures trying to figure out what is going on with the characters getting 12 hour boosts to specific stats and the implications on what is currently happening in the story. Hopefully the universe won’t change so dramatically that I loose interest in the story. Anyway, I enjoyed the read while holed up in my house during the Christmas break with so much smoke in the air in Australia that it was hurting my eyes. Keep up the entertainment Daniel!

Gunfights & Girls. Classic Schinhofen goodness.
A solid next chapter in the Apocalypse Gates saga. The downtime is a nice touch as Alvin, Gothy & mousey take a breather with old friends and weather the endless changes and updates.
Not as much nonstop fighting and danger, still plenty of sexy time back at base.

Still not sure this book works better as a harem. there are a hundreds of harem novels and they all end up feeling exactly the same. Apocalypse Gates was the only Erotic game lit book that had explicit sex scenes and a monogamous couple. For that alone it was a stand out in a crowed field. now it's just another harem novel, though still one of the better written ones.

Love this series

So enjoy this series. I enjoy the gaming aspect of the world and find the on the fly patching humorous. This leaves the author much flexibility in the future as he continues to expand the world. Alvin is still and add but I like seeing some good in him. The apocalypse has brought out the worst in a lot of people and I like it when he stands and helps some but not be a sucker. I wish the author wrote more on this series as his other series tend to get awkwardly mushy after a few books. Looking forward to more.

Fantastic

Mr. Schinhofen has made this volume of the series a perfect blend of slice of life and story progressing action. I enjoyed the peek into the downtime of Team Asshole, but was glad for new settings and the introduction of a new major character. Great series! Lots of fun! I can't Waitangi the next one.

Pretty good

This is a good series. I like how actions seem to have consequences and the characters react and develop accordingly. This is a nice continuation of the series but maybe a bit flat, it just seemed less action oriented then previous books. Saying that I enjoyed seeing some of the older characters and hope to hear more about others in future books.

Damn

This is the kind of series that makes me want to be able to hibernate for a few years so I could enjoy a whole bunch of them together. Daniel Schinhofen is one of the few authors who pay particular attention to the small details. He somehow manages to write a simple dinner scene as fun and enjoyable to read as a large battle scene.

I don’t know why we need head lines for reviews

Book five has a lot of going on and I feel that I’m going to need to re-read books 1-5 once book 6 comes out just to keep track of everything. I’m also hoping that they make friends with a dragon to use as a mount. I’m now picturing a dragon holding 2 50-caliber machine guns like pistols while breathing fire.

A great resergence

This was a great addition to the series bring the books back to what drew me in, in the first place after the last book.

While some areas felt rushed and some changes seamed a little meta, the characters where on point and developed nicely and there is a lot of world to explore in the next book.

Story has really grown on me

Murder hobo in a sci-fi/fantasy world. Add in different races of amorous wives, arrogant sentient dragons, intelligent zombies and lets not forget bad humans that need to be purged from the gene pool.

Yup, its really growing on me. On to the next installment.

A good change of pace.

A good change of pace. This book was pretty mellow, got to see how the settlements are coming alone. I like how they wasn't just forgot about. I like how the devs are still changing things. There wasn't anything that made me not want to put down the book however.

Munch improved

All of the issues I had with previous two releases were improved in this release. It felt like the story was back on track. Enjoyed as much as first two releases in series.

Excellent

I'm conflictted, just like with the previous book. Loved 99% percent of the story, the other 1 percent not so much. My other big complaint is that I have to wait so long between books, but that is always one of my complaints.

Must read

I just love these books. The characters are great and the things that they say are just so funny sometimes. The books of this series are just so hard to put down. I can’t wait for the next book, I really hope that the next one comes out soon.

Slower story but well worth it.

Great story overall enough action that it didn’t drag but not so much to make the storyline frantic. Well played. Looking forward to seeing “reality” transition to more game like. Also can’t wait to see what other races they find.

Another great book in a wonderful series

Once more into the gate? At least they didn't break everything again. . . Hopefully. I really enjoy this series, if you like antagonistic heroes and dominace games you will likely enjoy it too.

Apocalypse Gates scores another hit!

The 5th installment in the Apocalypse Gates series brings more intrigue, another race, more changes for Alvin & Family, and a cliff hanger ending.

Awesome!

What srarted as a zombie apocalypse has become a whole melting pot of ideas! Dragons, dwarfs, elves and others now roam the land! Love the idea of it being watched as a program! Hero is the perfectanti hero!

Going strong

Series is still going strong. There are enough adult scenes without it feeling over done. Wonder if he will tame a dragon in the future as that would be cool and make the dev's. mad.

Not bad at all

Love the series , this one was a bit draggy in spots but not enough to be an issue. Have to admit the sex play was sort of off this time around , needs to be tweeted just a tad.

Smoothed out the rough spots.

It is settling into a nice stable world view and some OP options that plague other settlement books are being fixed. A good character addition that fits without being forced and that brings it right back up to a five starr series.

So good to be back

I stopped reading in 2018 due to life so I'm super excited to binge the next few books. Took me a moment to remember the plot from the previous book but other than that I really enjoyed the book.

Life in the badlands

Alternate universe, LitRPG, portals, fantasy races, post apocalypse, BSDM, harem adult situations

More game tweaking, a visit to Green River, a road trip, a dragon, and dwarves, oh my! well edited, and absorbing. Will buy book 6.

Still loving this series.

Normally I get tired of a story if it has a lot of books mainly because there's no growth but Daniel Schinhofen has hooked me on more than one series.
