Mr. Derek Crawford & Mr. Jackson Gibbs
The event will be held at the Silver Fox Ski Lodge in Whistle Ridge, British Columbia. Daily activities will include skiing, ice skating, hot chocolate by an open fire--and of course, a respectable amount of one-on-one time with your own partners to allow you guys to find other ways to generate some heat.
Expect cocktails, fun, and laughs with friends...as well as a few delightful surprises as we walk down the aisle, on the way to our very own happily ever after.
xoxo
Bottom Boy & His Daddy
PS: No RSVPs necessary. We know our crew will be there. Love you guys!
Hitching It is a 22K-word story that follows the characters you know and love from the Metropolis series. Before reading Hitching It, it's best to read the other books in the series, starting with Faking It.
Riley Hart is the girl who wears her heart on her sleeve. She's a hopeless romantic. A lover of sexy stories, passionate men, and writing about all the trouble they can get into together. If she's not writing, you'll probably find her reading.
Riley lives in California with her awesome family, who she is thankful for everyday.
I loved this series! This book was an awesome catch up with all of the characters from Metropolis! Classic Metropolis snark and heat! This is not a stand-alone but a treat for anyone who read and liked the series!
I really had fun with this book . I listened to it on audio and boy I tell ya, you have to experience it. The narrator was so into this story. when I realized that this book was about Daddy Jackson and his boy Derek, I had to read. Loved them. They’re getting Married and all the gang is together to celebrate. You know it wouldn’t be a wedding if there weren’t issues along the way. Things start to go wrong Derek almost caves under pressure. It Was a cute story that showed the love between the couple and the loyalty they shared with their friends. Other than cringing from the multiple references of Derek’s ass and his bottoming capabilities, I ate this book up. It was fun meeting up with the metropolis crew.
This was the BEST surprise! A new Metropolis story AND it's my favorite couple from the whole series! Daddy Jackson and Derek are just perfection, and I love seeing them years later and now tying the knot.
Great story, fun times, sexy times, and I loved getting to catch up with all of the other Metropolis guys and seeing how happy they are still.
Thanks you Riley and Devon for the holiday surprise!
I love Riley Hart and Devon McCormack as writers both separately and as a dynamic partnership. I’ll admit I own all the Metropolis audiobooks but haven’t yet listened to them. After listening to Hitching It, I’ll put them higher on my to listen to list.
This is a cute novella and would be better listened to after hearing the others. That being said, I was able to get a lot out of the story despite my not being up to date with the other stories. I was drawn in to Derek’s fretting over wedding plans and Jackson’s musings about his life before Derek and how far he’s come. I enjoyed the adventures of the men and their friends and family. There’s something special about a wedding, to be sure. Also, a quick Canadian thanks for setting the book in beautiful British Columbia. Oh, and thanks for slotting in the Fever Falls reference. How are Carter and Sawyer doing these days?
For a quick listen and to catch up with old friends, this is the perfect book. Now, I just have to listen to all the other Metropolis books…
Finally, a quick shout out to Michael Dean (formerly Michael Pauley). His narrations are always amazing and I can’t believe how many books he puts out. They’re always high quality and I appreciate him helming this book as well.
I am drowning in a wave of all the fuzzy, happy feels. This book was the perfect novella to end an epic series. I am so sad to see it end, but honestly I am completely satisfied with the series, I just don't want to let this amazing group of men go.
Watching Derek and Jackson get married was everything I hoped it would be. Over the top, a little drama, and a lot of emotions. While they have always had a sizzling chemistry, to watch them be honest about their feelings when saying their vows had me tearing up. I was so overcome with joy that for just a moment I wish Metropolis and these wonderful characters were real, because they truly deserve all this happiness.
You get see the whole crew in attendance for the wedding. Travis and Gary are in marital bliss, Hayden and Cody are content with how they are, and Ev and Frankie are still thriving. From the laugh-out-loud moments to the more tender and vulnerable ones, this was truly perfection. With the type of ending that has me hugging my Kindle and smiling.
The authors surprised their fans with this addition to the metropolis series. Derek and Jackson are my favorite couple in the series so I was thrilled to read all about their wedding day! Everyone is present for this sweet story and I quickly remembered why I fell in love with this series in the first place. It was filled with steam, sass, love, devotion and so many feels!!!
Alright, so I have finally finished this series! While there were some fun times and I’ll miss some of the characters, I’ve realized that this might be one of my least favourite m/m series I’ve read so far. Yes, the books were spicy and some of the emotions were great, but the spice sometimes felt formulaic and like there was no real lead up to them. Yes, the spicy moments were super spicy, but something was lacking. Even when the books were emotion-heavy, the spicy factor felt unrealistic and too hurried. I don’t know how else to explain it without being crude.
Also, I finally accepted that there was an issue with diet culture with some of the characters and it was normalized in the books. Like, characters starving themselves for certain events and constantly commenting on carb avoidance. I hadn’t read anything like that in the past m/m books I’ve read (and if I have, I apologize for not fully cataloging it—but it happened a lot in some of the books in this series).
Also, though Derek and Jackson were one of my favourite couples, I wasn’t the biggest fan of this novella. I might have skimmed the ending in hopes of seeing something with Evan and Frankie. But alas, no. I did love their vows though!
I’m not giving up on this author duo, but yeah, while entertaining, this wasn’t my favourite series.
I was so happy to see a surprise Metropolis release. I missed that gang. I was even more happy when I saw that it was about Derek and Jaskson my fav couple in Metropolis.
So glad that we got a follow up on them and that they got their HEA. "Every boy needs a Daddy". They are sweet, funny and 🔥🔥🔥.
This is a short one. Less than 2 hours and I loved every minute. If you've read 3.5 this is the same idea but I enjoyed this one a lot more.
Southern gentleman Devon McCormack grew up in the Georgia and according to his biographical information from a very young age ‘he spun tales the old fashioned way, lying to anyone and everyone he encountered. He claimed he was an orphan. He claimed to be a king from another planet. He claimed to have supernatural powers. He has since harnessed this penchant for tall tales by crafting whole worlds where he can live out whatever fantasy he chooses.’ Devon is a gay man and focuses on gay male characters. In this book HITCHING IT- Book 4.5 of their Metropolis Series (FAKING IT, WORKING IT, OWNING IT, TRYING IT are the four previous volumes in the series) he joins California author Riley Hart who states she is a hopeless romantic, ‘a lover of sexy stories, passionate men, and writing about all the trouble they can get into together.’ The team works very well together!
Why label this volume as 4.5? It is a novella – and a good one, maintaining the quality of the other series components. It may be short, but it calls up the characters we’ve grown to know - the ‘hitching’ of the title is a wedding – and a seasonal one just for the Holidays.
The fun begins on page one – “who would have thought?” I say as I survey my button-up and tux pants in the mirror. I shift to check my profile. “I’m going to be a bride!” Gary brushes some lint off my shoulder, “Yes, the most beautiful bride there ever was,” he says, his tone dripping with sarcasm. ‘Superass, you were a pretty bride, but come on, These blond locks, the blue eyes bestowed upon me by the gods themselves…they’re a curse really.” He laughs. “Guess what the gods giveth in beauty, they taketh in modesty.”…And that tone of fun fills every page.
The synopsis, as an invitation, makes the story clear: ‘Pack your jockstraps and snow coats, Metropolis boys. This is very fine writing and the voice sounds like one author instead of two – a factor which is as high a compliment one can pay to a duo who have joined efforts to write one book!
It was so nice cathing up again with the guys from Metropolis. It has been a while but I was sucked right back in. This book describes the usual wedding shenanagans and stresses but as usually Riley and Devon are doing their job getting you addicted to the story. Daddy is so proud of his boy opening up to his emotions and the boy only wants to please his daddy. Even the friends they met on their first time on the slopes together are there to celebrate. But after trousers that don't fit, shirts full of ink whilst trying to write vows and one disappearing groom all ends well with the marriage of these two loveable men. If you enjoyed the Metropolis books you defenitely need to read this last addition.
I’m not going to lie, I squeed a bit when I got the newsletter that a surprise Metropolis book was out! And Daddy Jackson and Derek too! I love all the guys from Metropolis, but I’ve always had a soft spot for Derek. Their wedding story was everything we didn’t know we needed! It had shenanigans and was funny, sexy and HOT - everything we’ve come to expect from these guys! I devoured their book and now I’m trying to figure out how I fit in a re-read of this fantastic series!
We’d been in bed, and I’d just fucked him. Derek was lying on my chest like he loved to do, his fingers twisting in the hair there, and he’d just said… “Do you ever want to get married again?” in this soft, vulnerable voice that he only allowed himself to give in to when it was us. My heart had thudded against his cheek as I teasingly replied, “Are you tryin’ to ask me something?” And he’d said, “Yes.” He’d leaned up so he could look down at me. “But I didn’t know it until this econd. What do you think? Does Daddy wanna put a ring on it?”
Derek and Jackson, one of the four Metropolis couples, experience a series of mishaps before their wedding. While it was nice to spend time with all the guys again, there’s a Ground Hog Day feel about this, it’s pretty similar to Finding It - faux chaos in the lead up, someone goes missing, someone rips up his vows - the plotlines and dialogue felt pretty tired. If you just view this as overly sweet icing on the Metropolis cake and don’t expect much, then it’s inoffensive fluff. It’s probably me, but even audio narrator Michael Dean just seemed to be going through the motions.
Another cute little jaunt back into the Metroplis gang’s world.
I enjoyed the crap out of this novella. It was another one just like the first—a totally insane situation that just overflowed with good feels and happy vibes.
Side note: I love the full-on inclusion of all the characters throughout each and every installment, especially because they make the stories so much richer. Nothing in this series would work as well without the satellite characters woven into everything.
This was a very welcome surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the series and was sad when it ended after getting to know all the characters so well so it was lovely to catch up and see where they are all at in their lives. This is something that could be repeated from time to time (hint)
The Daddy and boy duo return in this short and sweet winter book! Jackson and Derek return to the ski resort to get married with all the guys from Metropolis tagging along for the big event! Loved catching up with everyone in the series and really seeing that Derek gets his happily ever after!
This book was a great unexpected surprise, I was so happy & couldn't wait to read it. Took me a while to get to reading it but is was worth the wait. I loved Derek & Jackson & I'm so glad they got their HEA. It was also great to read about the other couples for a catch up, loved them & missed them. Thanks for the story Riley & Devon!
Omg that was so dang cute!!!! Derek and Jackson’s chaotic wedding adventure lol. I love all these guys so much and I’m so sad that the series has ended. I’m kinda hoping there will be a book about Zane!! I’d love to see his journey!! Absolutely great stories Riley and Devon!!!
Bottom Boy gets his Santa Daddy to put a ring on it! This short Metropolis book rounds off the series perfectly. All the characters are there, including Finn (I hope he gets his own story some day). Fun and sweet.
Riley and Devon never disappoint.. if you haven’t read the Metropolis series you need to read it... it’s funny, sexy and with the perfect amount of kink... love you guys and love the guys of Metropolis❤️
Derek and Jackson are back! They've planned a wedding. The closer they get to the wedding the more things happen. You don't want to miss this book. Riley and Devon have done a great job with this story. Hurry and one click.
Derek is quite rightly a bit stressed, and Evan's description of him as "Groomzilla" is appropriate. Lovely story for Derek and Jackson's pre-wedding celebrations. A few mishaps along the way to HEA.
I loved this series! This book was an awesome catch up with all of the characters from Metropolis! Classic Metropolis snark and heat! This is not a stand-alone but a treat for anyone who read and liked the series!
The Metropolis guys are so much fun! It was nice to check in with them all, as they navigated Groomzilla the runaway bride. Thankfully Daddy came to the rescue, multiple times!
Funny, sexy, irreverent, just like the whole Metropolis series has been. This novella brings the whole crew back together to celebrate Derek and Daddy Jackson's wedding, and of course things are bound to get messy!
