Laura writes sweet romance and fantasy with steamy kisses, thrilling suspense, and mystery.
A self-confessed Potterhead and Once Upon a Time fan. Laura marries her love of 1990's romcoms with her obsession with Pretty Little Liars and writes fast-paced books written especially for readers who need an escape.
Laura Burton is a British author who lives in Wiltshire, England with her three wild sons, alpha-male husband, and positively loopy Poochon.
Another billionaire romance. There's so many billionaire romances out there, and a lot of them are kind of similar and unmemorable, but although this one was quite 'shallow', it was still enjoyable to read. The romance was not very realistic, I mean they fell in love after 3 days... and there were a few unbelievable aspects in the novel, but if you look past all of that, there was a certain charm to the characters and story. There were also some suspenseful moments and plot twists, which was an interesting addition to the story. Was the novel a bit predictable? Yes. Was it a bit cliche? Yes. But did I still enjoy it? Yes. Probably not my favourite billionaire novel ever, but if you like this sort of genre, I think it's worth giving it a go.
A HEA, but the epilogue does set up the next book in the series.
I found Harry/Harold to be a rather weak and pathetic hero. He is beaten to a pulp while Julie takes on his assailants, and they scatter. He is intimidated by his mother and his ex-fiancée. That is not my idea of a romantic hero. I found the whole concept of Harry and Julie meeting and falling in love almost immediately to be unrealistic. Harry’s proposal and her acceptance after such a short time were unbelievable. I also found it incredible that 85% of reviewers awarded 4 or 5 stars for this travesty.
A fun, clean romance with a twist of mystery! Julie and Harry's new relationship is challenged by someone who does not want them together. I enjoyed that even though they had a "love at first sight" experience, as they got to know each other, their love deepened. A quick, fun read for anyone who enjoys clean romance!
Laura Burton has written a 5-star intriguing, page-turning book that has a little mystery, betrayal and some twists and turns you will not see coming. Julie is a fashion designer but she is working as a seamstress for a fashion line. Her friend Emily is known for her matchmaking and somehow sets up a blind date for Julie with Harry. Harry can not believe that he is doing this, but when he sees Julie he feels a connection to her. As they go on another date, he gets a note telling him to walk away from Julie or he will be destroyed. He ignores the note and asks Julie if she would like to go to England with him for the weekend and she agrees. As they are going back to his apartment they are stopped and there is another note across the road. This is the first Julie knows about the notes and it upsets her. They decide to leave his security team behind and go visit her parents. They are out on a walk when they are attacked and Harry is hurt, Julie puts up a fight to protect him. Harry is taken to the hospital and while there Julie thinks the only way to keep him safe is to leave him, so she goes home. Will Julie get over her feelings for Harry? Will Harry go after Julie or will he let her go. Will he find out who has been setting up the attacks on him? This was a wonderful book to read and will have you from the first page to the last page. I received an ARC copy of this book for my voluntarily and honest review.
Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. It's cute, it's sweet, and it's everything you want in a clean romance novel. I loved the suspenseful element that Laura included in this story. It kept me turning page after page, eager to find out "whodunit". Harry is quirky, which I absolutely adored! And Julie is a very sweet character who doesn't like attention. Perfect for him. The way they complement one another was sheer perfection! Laura's writing style was clear and easy to follow. I found myself laughing and gasping with almost every scene. It was a very fun and lighthearted read. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
I am a little skeptical when it comes to billionaire romances, so this story was going to have something to prove. I like rugged blue collar men. Then the romance almost seemed too easy.... That’s when the cryptic messages began. I didn’t see them coming, and the mystery hooked me. In the end, the love at first sight-sweetness won me over and the guilty party came as an interesting surprise! I received this book as an ARC, and I’m giving a voluntary review.
This books was cute, an insta-love story with two adorkable people, with a mystery/suspense twist. It seemed a bit like a modern fairy tale in parts, and just when you thought you knew how it would end, something happens to change everything. This book easily held my interest from beginning to end. And the next book in the series looks like it will be just as good
It had a lovely, love at first sight love story with an underlying sinister dark side which will keep you guessing for a while and then gasp out loud at the outcome.
It has a message too, that those with money often feel that they are not loved for themselves but for their bank accounts, and his ex sure proved that. But it also showed that not everyone cares about that, and they can see the person beyond the $ signs and love them despite all that goes along with the wealth.
A story not to be missed
I received this as a complimentary copy and I am giving my honest review voluntarily
The two main characters are sweet, shy, awkward and overall very likable. This sweet insta-love is made even more interesting by the dark events, suspicion, obstacles. The relationship between Julie and Harry has sort of a fairy tale vibe, it was a really sweet story.
Wow! I didn’t expect some of the curveballs in this one! Who Wants to Love a Billionaire is a clean romance full of drama and suspense. The main characters have great chemistry. This is a page-turner. I received this book as an ARC and have chosen to give my honest opinion.
This was so puerile and facile, that most fanfiction written by teenagers is actually better. I mean it. I've never read anything like that before, not as a professionally published book.
This is a fast-paced, fun story. Julie doesn’t like attention and her friend hooks her up on a blind date with a billionaire she finds herself in the center of attention and also drama she doesn’t want when His ex comes back wanting her man. There are some twists and turns and lots of romance with a touch of mystery. Connie Shabshab does a great job narrating. I liked that she didn’t do odd voices for the men and the acing is good. She made the story sound believable and interesting.
I like how the epilogue set up the challenge for the next book. I'm very curious about how Edward is going to accomplish his task; which I'm certain he will do , maybe just not how he thinks it will happen. It probably isn't going to happen how he thinks or maybe wants it to happen.
“Who Wants to Love a Billionaire?” by Laura Burton Wow, what a suspense filled sweet clean contemporary romance story. I received an ARC of this story via Bookfunnel from the author with the hope that I would post an honest review. And, honestly this was a really good read.. as a matter of fact. I was so caught up in this story I couldn’t put it down for more than just a few minutes at a time. Had to answer the phone, get something to drink, one cannot just read for hours without giving the old eyes a change of pace every once in a while. So by now you know I really, really, liked this story. Sure hope you enjoy your time in this story as much as I enjoyed my time with Julie, Harry, and Emily, too! Happy Reading ! !
2nd read was the audible audiobook. “Who Wants to Love a Billionaire?” by Laura Burton Wow, what a suspense filled sweet clean contemporary romance story. I received a free copy of this audiobook via audible from the author with the hope that I would post an honest review. And, honestly this was a really good read.. This story had some amusing moments; Harry said some funny and awkward things sometimes. That was probably my favorite part of the book. Otherwise, it seemed pretty corny how Harry and Julie talked or viewed each other. Which, I know it's a love story and I do like some cheese but this felt a little over the top. I also didn't like that they seemed to jump right into the physical, making out in the car with their hands all over each other. It didn't get more detailed than that but I don't consider this a clean read. Laura Burton's author bio said she writes in keeping with Christian values but I would disagree about this book. They also "fall in love" extremely fast, way too fast. There's some action scenes and suspense as Harry's being threatened. I liked that Julie knew some self-defense but Harry needed to stand up for himself more. I had to listen to this audio at 1 1/2 speeds as 1 was way too slow. Overall, I can't recommend this book as there just wasn't enough to redeem it for me.
I received this Audible audio from StoryOrigin. I was not compensated for this review. All opinions are my own.

MY TAKE This was a cute story. I like beta males who are sensitive and don't feel the need to push their weight around. Harry's quirky and so is Julie in her own way. There are threats to add to the tension, though I suspected who the culprit was.
This is a case of insta-love—like serious insta-love. Add to that all the talk about how hot they find each other and the "sizzle" is over the top. Though this is a clean read, it made me wonder if they were in lust and not love because we didn't see enough of the nonphysical things that made them love each other. Both Harry and Julie had to learn to be assertive which both needed. The growth was good to see for both of them.
I listened to the audiobook (which I received in exchange for an honest review). The narrator was just okay. In the beginning, the way she made Harry sound when he spoke (he was nervous) did not fit the guy on the cover. I had a hard time balancing the two. She got better with him as the book progressed though.
***SPOILERS*** This books was cute, an insta-love story between two sweet, shy, awkward and overall very likable characters, with a mystery/suspense twist. Julie a seamstress agrees to go on a blind date her best friend organised with Harry Jackson. Harry can’t believe he was talked into using this dating app and now is "obligated" to go on a date with Julie. The date goes really well surprisingly and they arrange to meet up again before Harry has to go to London. Harry had inadvertently invited Julie without her knowing when his mother called badgering him about am upcoming event, where his EX would be.Harry convinces Julie to go with him, then he gets the first death threat thinking they where safe in London they get another death threat Julie thinks it is his ex Ebony. Harry gets attacked and Julie helps fend of the attackers, but leaves London thinking if she left him he would be safe and the threats would stop. Harry goes back to get Julie because he loves her, but then she is kidnapped. One of Harry's security team discovers where Julie is being held and they go to rescue her. They mange to over throw the kidnappers except in the turn of events some of Harry’s security are the ones involved with the threatening messages and it is his mum who is behind it all; as she wants Harry to get back with his ex Ebony. Harry gets injured and the whole time Julie stays by his side as he recovers finally admitting she loves him as munch as he does her. This book easily held my interest from beginning to end. And the next book in the series looks like it will be just as good! I received this book as an ARC and am leaving my honest opinion.
Great Story & Audible Listen🎧 A Sweet💘Romance with a Suspenseful Twist!
Who Wants to Love a Billionaire? Billionaires in New York, Book 1 By: Laura Burton Narrated by: Connie Shabshab
This is a sweet romance with a twist of suspense and mystery. I enjoyed Laura Burton’s writing style and the storylines she created, they were interesting and captivated me from start to end. The characters are likable and nicely developed. Julie is a dressmaker working hard for famous designer, she has hopes her own designs will be recognized one day. Her matchmaking friend Emily needs a date for one of her clients and asks Julie to go, she agrees and they meet at a restaurant. Harry Jackson is a nice guy, some say too nice because he is often taken advantage of. He is a busy Hollywood producer and a bit on the shy side so he turns to a matchmaker for a date. He meets Julie for dinner and the two hit it off and he asks her for another date. Then he receives a threatening note that he needs to not see her anymore. His feelings for her were too strong to end it and more threats come and they escalate further. This fast paced story is well plotted, there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, action, some mystery, thrilling suspense, twists and turns you never see coming, some heartfelt moments and sweet romance. Laura Burton, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Connie Shabshab is a terrific narrator and voice artist. She brings the characters to life giving each their own voice and personality. She does a great job performing the different accents and projecting the character’s emotions into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧
Brilliant book first book characters where strong. Julie a seamstress has a date to go to one her best friend organised it she is going to meet Harry Jackson. Hardy can’t believe he was talked into using this dating app he has got a date with Julie Andrews. The date goes really well and they arrange to meet up again before Harry has to go to London and he is going to take Julie with him then he gets the first death threat thinking they where safe in London they get another death threat Julie thinks it is his ex Ebony. Harry gets beaten up Julie helps fend of the attackers but leaves London thinking if she left him he would be safe and the threats would stop. Haaretz asks brother to toughen him up then he goes back to get Julie he loves her but then she is kidnapped. One of Harrys security team knows where Julie is being held and goes there. Julie still has her head covered when she hears Harry the covering on her head is taken off she mangers to get out of her restraints and they both mange to over throw the kidnappers except in the turn of events some of Harry’s security are the ones doing the threatening messages also it is his mum who is behind it all as she wants Harry to get back with his ex Ebony. Harry gets shot two of his security team are arrested and one has died Julie stays by his side as he recovers this time not leaving him she love him as munch as he does her. This the first book I have read from the author looking forward to reading more of her books
Julie is set up on a blind date by her friend who is the matching making business, with a billionaire no less. Harry said billionaee, nervously fumble though Thejr first date making juile smile with his cheesy puns and random comments and a 2nd date is planned before the end, the romance is cute, shy and a bit awkward. Then the 2nd date comes and they are having a beautiful evening and your really starting to fall for this slow building race and BAM ! Something crazy happens which made me almost put the book down and be like hang on one second WHAT?! butt I kept reading I was glad to see the faithful butler Benjamin has some sense too aha. There some sinister stuff going on and I straight away want to blame the rich guy. Harry fly's Julie London for a charity event and I got such feels during this chapter for the romance again - swoon! Harry takes juile to his mother's home to meet his mom and it's even more awkward then their first date and not in a cute way. Juile is made to feel much lesser class and way below Harry's very high standards. Who doesn't love a possible mother in law?! From here you are in for a hell of a roller coaster ride ! The ups the down the sudden twists! Not every one is as sweet as they first made to be. The only down fall is the ending was a little quick for me I would have liked to have know more what about happened to certain people. But Laura it's such a joy to read your work you are coming on as a writing amazing !!!
This book has everything you could possibly want in a good romance. Plus it will leave you breathless. If the swoon-worthy kisses don't knock the wind out of you, the nail-biting suspense will! Who's sending the threatening notes? Who's watching? And their kisses were to die for. No pun intended. Lol. This book was also funny! Harry is not an Alpha male. He's so quirky it's actually endearing. And Julie compliments him so we'll. I loved every twist and turn. Except when Harry gets beat up. Poor guy. But when Julie fights back and saves him, that's when I thought... They were so perfect for each other. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a clean, sweet read with kisses that will make you blush. This book will leave a warm smile on your face that will take days to fade. It tugs at your heart strings. Loved every scene, and look forward to the audiobook when it comes out! Can't wait for book 2!!
Harry and Julie had one of the most awkward/cute 1st dates I’ve ever read. I couldn’t stop smiling. Their conversations were easygoing and their shyness and awkward moments just made it more relatable.
I loved how the intrigue started early on. I could not wait to uncover the villain. However, all my excitement quickly wore off as the story only went downhill from there.
The MCs fell for each other way too fast. Two dates is way too soon to propose marriage. I also thought that Harry was too much of a pushover, which made him less attractive. The drama and angst was way too over the top. The more I read, the less sense everything made. Also, I felt that the “Villains” were not only unrealistic but they never faced any consequences. The conclusion was glossed over. It did not even make sense why the mastermind would go to such lengths to separate the MCs.
This had so much potential but it just fell flat, leaving me disappointed.
Julia is a simple seamstress who loves making others happy. When friend Emily asks her to go out with Harry as a favor, she hesitates but eventually says yes. Harry is a shy billionaire who wants to find love, but his ex and mother have left me a little broken. Their date starts out a little awkward, the chemistry between them develops quickly. By the end of the night, Harry knows that sweet Julia is exactly what he wants and needs, although someone obviously thinks otherwise. But Harry won't let the threatening messages stand in his way.
I really liked this book. A little suspense made it even better. I had an idea of who was behind the threats, but the depth betrayal through me for a loop. I loved that Harry wasn't the "alpha" male. He was sweet, kind, and not obnoxious. Some alpha males are just too much for me, but he was really likable. Julia as well. Very good story.
"Who Wants to Love a Billionaire?" by Laura Burton is a sweet, heartfelt and an engaging read. I appreciate Laura's approach of presenting a shy, kind and awkward billionaire who defies the usual alpha-male standard. The chemistry between Julie and Harry is instantaneous, and their journey of finding their strength and support in each other is sweet. This book is not solely guided by romance, but there's also an element of mystery that binds the protagonists together. There are some surprising twists and turns which elevates the pace of the book and an ending which I didn't see coming. Frank, Emily, Benjamin, Jonas, Tabby (you can never forget the cat) and Ebony are some of the supporting characters that flow well with the plot. It ticks all the marks when it comes to a clean romance.
I received an ARC, and this honest review is left voluntarily.
This book was a quick, fun, rather disconnected read. I was given a copy in return for a review. The main characters are Harold (call me Harry) Jackson and Julie Andrews (bad choice of character name, since I kept hearing The Sound of Music in the background). Harry is, of course, a billionaire and Julie is a fashion designer working her way up as a seamstress. They meet, oddly, via a matchmaker, who is, of course, Julie's best friend. They fall in love immediately, but trouble is on the horizon. One thing after another happens, and danger looms from the unlikeliest of sources. The whole book was fun to read, but it seemed disconnected, possibly because you don't know who is trying to keep them apart -- or why. It is a surprise!
